Since 1998, owner Sherri Davis & staff personally take care of all guests on a daily basis. Six spacious, comfortable villas are situated around a relaxing tropical garden, pool, waterfall & jacuzzi area with hammocks. Villas are nonsmoking & have king beds, A/C, Flat Screen TVs/IPTV, free Wi-Fi, kitchens with dishes and porches. Located in a regular neighborhood behind the downtown tourist zone, many “locals” eateries, a park & neighborhood grocery are just around the corner.

Detailed Reviews
We enjoyed our week long stay at IslaMar!
The property manager Andrea was extremely helpful all throughout our stay. She was prompt with replies on WhatsApp. She gave us great recommendations for snorkeling, car rental, restaurants, and more!
We had a fun filled week in Cozumel and also spent quite a bit of time lounging and catching up on some work in our lovely villa. We had a very comfortable bedroom, living and dining area, kitchen, and bathroom.
We love staying in places more in the local part of town to be able to experience the local culture, restaurants and shops. The location is only about a 20 minute walk or short taxi ride to the waterfront and tourist areas. But we honestly preferred staying further away from the hustle and bustle. We loved walking around and getting to know the area. We had absolutely no problems with the neighborhood and everyone was extremely nice! We enjoyed eating at the local taquerias, going to the local supermarket etc!
We would stay here again next time in Cozumel! Thank you to the staff at IslaMar for making our trip to Cozumel even better!

We had our first stay at Islamar Villas, but hopefully it won't be our last. A quiet place to crash in between all the fun we had in Cozumel for 10 days. Rooms are nice and clean, people are friendly, and it felt very safe to us. We were able to walk around the neighborhood and find places to grab a bite to eat, and we actually started to learn our way around pretty well. Thanks, Sherri, for opening up your home to us, and thank you Andrea for taking such good care of us. Can't wait to go back.

I just got back from a week of diving in Cozumel and staying at IslaMar Villas and it was great. Sherri is very helpful and accommodating, the condo was nicely furnished, the bed was comfortable and the courtyard area was very tranquil.
Their are lots of "local" restaurants around which was nice and the other guests at the Villas were very friendly and not your typical tourists. Overall a really nice stay.

My daughter and I stayed at the IslaMar Villas in July 2003. We had a one bedroom/one bath and we loved it. It was extremely clean and roomy. There was a TV with local cable which has some English channels, a VCR, a double burner stove top, microwave, fridge plus everything you need for cooking and eating. There was an AC as well. The "compound" is surrounded by a wall and a secured front gate. There are 5 total units so you don't have to worry about big crowds. There was a nice pool and whirlpool, dive gear storage, rinse tank and a beautiful garden. It was like a home away from home. Around the corner was a convenice store and it's close enough to walk to town. I never felt in danger. All in all it was a great experience. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for something different from the standard "tourist trap".

I recently returned from the best vacation of my life. I stayed at the IslaMar Vacation Villas. They are centrally located to Town and the beach... very spacious... clean and all the ammenities one needs to spend a week or a month.... I dove with Dive Paradise.. Wow..what an operation. They picked us up, not far from the IslaMar Vacation Villas, at the Baracuda hotel..and left from their dock... Had the best diving. Say 3 turtles on one dive. Also saw a nurse shark swimming... WOW. I saw so many species.. on this week of diving... that I have already reserved another trip this coming winter.... Thanks to the Villas and Dive Paradise for making this a trip that will never be forgotten... Jim Piere

We stayed at Islamar from the third week in Feb to the third week in March 2015. Although this was our first visit to these apartments, it was by no means our first visit to Cozumel, having been to the island several times over around 15 years. The property has its good and bad points:-
Pros
Situation. The building is five blocks back from the downtown area, which is an easy 20 minute walk. The neighbourhood is quiet (barking dogs excepted) and we always felt safe. The supermarkets are a little further and we usually walked down and took a taxi back ($3-4US). A local convenience store always seemed to be open and stocked a little of everything. There are two restaurants nearby, Casa Mission and Pescadoria Carlos, which also sells fresh fish in the morning (closes at 6:30 and all day Monday).
Outside Facilities. There is a very pleasant outdoor area with a small lawn, sunbeds, a small pool and a BBQ grill. The area is maintained every morning and very well kept.
Apartment. There are two good sized rooms and a shower room. It’s possible to eat either inside or outside on the shared balcony. The balcony was also handy for drying dive gear. The bedroom has A/C, a large clothes closet and a huge bed.
Staff. The staff was invariably cheerful and pleasant. Our apartment was cleaned twice a week but this could probably be more often if required.
Cons
We were staying a month and planned to take advantage of the cheap and good quality meat, fish and produce available on the island. So we were taken aback when the “full kitchen” described on the website turned out to be a small, rusty, two ring hotplate, a tiny toaster/grill and a microwave, plus a fridge/freezer. We were not the only guests who were disappointed by this. There were no tools for the BBQ, so we had to buy tongs and a wire brush.
There was a general lack of attention to detail. The first things we bought were two wine glasses and two coffee mugs. Not everyone drinks wine but most people drink tea or coffee and one cracked mug was not going to suffice.
There is not much to do on Cozumel after dinner so we were delighted to find a closet full of DVDs. However the DVD player turned out to have a mind of its own and only worked when it felt like it. We mentioned this to the staff a couple of times but nothing changed and we gave up. Even when the machine did work, watching a wide screen DVD on a 19” non wide screen TV was a bit of a chore. Even the cheapest of motel rooms have a flat screen TV with disc player.
The bathroom door would not stay closed so it was possible to see the toilet from the sitting room, a simple hook would easily solve this issue.
The general feeling was that the apartment needed a refurb, new appliances and a redecorate.

What more could you ask for. I travel alone and look for smaller places where it is clean and quiet. I hate those all inclusive places where people seem to just sit around and drink at the pool. I came down for diving and the package with Dive Paradise and Isla mar Villas was a perfect fit. 15 dives over 5 days and a villa all to myself at a great price. I was out most of the time but always found my villa clean and the grounds wonderfully maintained when I was there. It is a 20 to 25 minute walk to the shops and stores down by the water front but I enjoy meeting the people that live where I am staying and had some great experiences with many locals I met each day on my walk. (Taxis were cheap but as I said I like the walk). The owner Sherri even drove me to the airport on the day I left. I definitely recommend Isla mar Villas to singles or couples who want to be part of the community and who want the freedom to experience Mexico for real.

We have and will continue to stay at IslaMar Villas. After staying with Sherri for about eight years in a row, there is not another place we would rather be. We have stayed in various hotels over the years, but we love all the space, the huge king-size bed, being able to cook at home, having a refrigerator stocked with cold beer, spending an afternoon in the pool, having our bicycles in the bike rack right inside the door of the villas. The neighbors around IslaMar have become familiar faces, and although we don't speak Spanish, we are greeted every year with a wave and big smile. We can easily walk/bike for groceries and if we do want to go out for a meal, everything is close. Tacos at No Name Taco, pizza at No Name Pizza, tortas at El Hit, fish at San Carlos or a fancy meal at La Mission--all within walking distance (some of those being within 2-3 blocks from "home.") There is nowhere else we would consider a second home as we do Islamar.

My husband and I just spent two weeks at IslaMar. I can echo what others have already said. Our suite was spacious, clean and had all the necessities. Sherri and Zuri are very, very helpful. They answered all our questions and on the day we left, Sherri gave us a ride to the ferry. The pool looks great. We didn't use it, but saw that others did. We loved having a balcony and spent every morning and evening sitting there enjoying the warmth and listening to the sounds of the neighborhood. We enjoyed staying away from the tourist zone and loved trying out many of the local eateries! We live in a very quiet area, so we did notice the level of noise around Islamar (dogs barking, scooters honking, marching bands practicing, children playing, vendors playing music as they moved through the neighborhood selling their products, etc.). However, we were out a lot during the day and it was quiet at night, so wasn't a huge problem. Would certainly recommend this place to others.

This year we enjoyed three months at IslaMar Villas. We are returning visitors who have enjoyed visits to IslaMar for more than five years. We always look forward to returning to IslaMar, it is like returning home. Zuri and Miguel take excellent care of us as needed. One of these days, Art will shock Zuri and speak an entire sentence in Spanish to her, as Zuri has been trying to teach Art Spanish for over eight years. Sherri and Mauricio always stop by to check on each guest and make sure we all are enjoying our time at IslaMar. IslaMar is in conveniently located and in a nice neighborhood with a lovely park one block away. The neighborhood has many great restaurants walking distance from the Villas. There is an in-room guest book, which lists a variety of Island restaurants. There is free Internet and a guest telephone for local calls. The Villas are wonderfully maintained with all needed amenities. The beds provide a good night’s sleep so you’re energized for each new day’s activity. The swimming pool is maintained daily and the grounds are beautiful. You can relax in a hammock, read your book, and if you run out of books, there are extras in the commons area of the Villas. There is a good rinse tank if you have scuba or snorkel gear to rinse. IslaMar makes a wonderful kickoff point for each day’s activity. IslaMar is a great place to stay for a short or long visit. We suggest a long visit so you can see all the wonderful things the Island offers and if you stay long, enough you will become one of the regulars is IslaMar. We look forward to returning to IslaMar each year that we can!
