Hotel's Favorite
Easily the best all-inclusive experience I've ever had. The grounds are extremely well kept and the layout of the hotel is perfect, you're never more than steps away from their perfect white sand beach. Plenty of loungers, cabanas and hammocks await you there, with drinks from the swim pool bar too cool off with. Don Julio and Herradurra are the tequilas of choice for this hotel and were much appreciated. We enjoyed the mini golf and all the other fun games they had on site, as well as the nightly shows. No stoned was left unturned with the new Covid regulations. Someone was always cleaning something at all times, hand sanitizer was everywhere, and I never once saw an employee without a mask. Traveling during these times of course doesn't come without risk, but me and my wife felt as safe as is humanly possible in these conditions during our stay. The new food system takes some getting used to, its still buffet style but you have to point to what you want and they put it on a plate. Yet if you don't even want to go up to the food they do have a menu that you can order from your waiter. There is only one place for food and we did miss having several specialty restaurants to choose from. Two slightly negative things in an otherwise perfect vacation; First is that it is very confusing to find your way around and figure things out at first. Reception just hands you your room key and sends you on your way, no explanation about how the new food system works or were anything is. We kind of just had to figure things out as we went. They said to use the app, but it is useless in helping you get around or figure out how the hotel works. It tells you the time of special events at night, but not the location and not all of them. One night we went to go walk on the beach and walked right into an outdoor cookout, complete with music and dance lessons. No notice was given of this event, either in person or on the app. They need to find a way to be clearer with how things work and events, but its a minor complaint. Secondly, they got really unlucky with the current of the ocean blowing the sargasm into a concrete pier next to the hotels beach, creating a seaweed pool in front of their hotel. It's random, sometimes its the most beautiful clear water you've ever seen, and sometime its a murky brown. For us it wasn't a big deal, as you can still swim in sargasm and it didn't ruin relaxing on their gorgeous white sand beach, but I know others will be more picky to this experience. Last but no least a huge shoutout to the staff at Melia. Every single employee was so nice, gracious and attentive. They really hand select the finest at this resort. They are all so genuinely nice, and not in that fake just fishing for a tip kind of way. Special mentions to Enrique, the best bartender we've ever had at one of these resorts. Never have I ever had a good old fashioned in Mexico, but even using a crappy bourbon like jim beam he made one of the best I've had. Gerardo from reception was so helpful and accommodating as well. The biggest shout out goes to Francisco, the executive chef at the restaurant. All of these all-inclusives in Mexico use the same ingredients and I know exactly what it's going to taste like before even eating there. That is why it was truly remarkable what he could do using these same ingredients to make some outstanding food. Seriously the best food we've ever eaten at this kind of resort. Francisco is a gem, and just a kind and gracious person in general. He made our honeymoon truly special and we felt lucky to have him. Melia isn't just the best all-inclusive in Cozumel, it may just be the best in all of Mexico. We already can't wait to go back.

My husband and I had this trip booked a year ago and luckily the resort reopened in time for us. We have both been looking forward to a week away. Covid precautions are in place just as they are at home. I believe the staff are doing an awesome job with all the new restrictions. The food has been good. You have to download the menus on your phone. It would have been helpful to know that ahead of time, even during checkin. There is no information handed to you. No map of the resort, no list of entertainment or directions on rules regarding masks. After we were checked in we were given our room key and pointed in the direction of our room. We have stayed at many different resorts over the years so had no problem. They brought the bags up shortly after. The staff are all wearing masks and everyone is expected to wear them in buildings and the restaurant except when sitting at the table. There is some info on room service and other things on the tv in the room. The staff has been very helpful even though they are short staffed. Breakfast is a buffet that you point out what you want and they put it on the plate. Along with the egg stations. They do have had nightly entertainment which has been good. Ladt night the had spanish dancers and food outside early, it was set up very mice. The first full day the beach was perfect, very clean. It has been windy and the water rough yesterday and today but still plenty to of places to lounge. It is pretty empty, lots of large families mostly hanging at the kids pool that seem to be locals. Think they are running some specials. They are working on getting things fixed up again. Only one elevator in the high rise is working. As we are on the 10th floor I will be glad when both work. The drinks have been wonderful, those guys are awesome. We have a few more days here and will enjoy every minute.

This hotel has only just re-opened with Covid health precautions in place. For example there are guidelines about social distancing and the use of face masks and hand sanitizer. And the 3 specialty restaurants are closed with only the main buffet style restaurant open to allow the staff better control of the food service. The staff all wear face masks and those handling food also wear gloves. Guests are told that face masks are required in public areas but tonight at the buffet there were some people who did not wear masks at the main buffet, the salad bar and the dessert table. No one asked them to use masks when at these service areas. I brought this to the attention of the staff and was told that rules are more relaxed in the restaurant. I suppose you have to decide if you consider this as safe and reasonable behavior around buffet service points. I don’t and I don’t understand why the management is not enforcing the rules.

Dear Janmarsh52, Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We appreciate the time you are taking to express your opinion regarding our reopening protocols, these protocols were conceived to keep offering a high-end service always taking into consideration our guests' safety and well-being. Our staff follows these rules carefully, and we are surprised by the situation you witnessed at our restaurant. Please know that there is no self-serve service available at any of our resorts. Nonetheless, we offer an assisted buffet and a la carte service to all our guests depending on the occupancy we are having. We apologize for the perception you left with, you rest assure that we will reinforce our hygiene protocols for your next visit. Best regards. Guest service Center Management

We had a wonderful experience , staff were friendly, food was good, drinks were great. Beach was chill! My only disappointment was booking side trips in the hotel lobby. We found the price wasn't what we thought, and would have preferred to not have done then. Other than that we had an amazing experience
