While the resort setting was beautiful ( occasional stink from swamp ) the food was horrid. There wasn’t one good meal we had while staying there. I think most of it was frozen , thawed and reheated. It was tasteless and low quality. Do not drink tap water as it has a high salt content and it permeates into the drinks. The beach although narrow due to erosion was nice and secluded. One day there was a croc sightings so for a whole day we were not allowed to swim. Beware of the freebies they offer to entice you to listen to their selling platform ( to buy vacation time at their resorts ) they are aggressive and it will not take the time they say it will, it’s double and they make you feel dishonest and petty for not taking them up on their offer. No sales staff is friendly but I never did get any decaf coffee . I think any positive food reviews are bogus on this review platform, no sea views at all.

Hotel's Favorite
This all -inclusive hotel is one of the best in Cozumel. The rooms are well equiped, meticulously cleaned each day and situated in a well-manicured jungle. There is easy walkable access to the private beach with a boardwalk over the gorgeous swamp. The pool and beach area are well taken care of and the people that work here are very friendly and accommodating. Jesus provided our grandkids with hours of entertainment. And Hector is always a friendly face at the front desk. The food was good for an all-inclusive. Try to book one or two nights’ dinner in the restaurants and enjoy a pretty good meal with excellent service. During Covid some of the activities are limited but the ones they have are enjoyable. All of the staff wear masks at all times and you will be wearing masks in the lobby area as well as when you enter the restaurants. They take your temperature each time you enter the restaurants so it feels safer overall than some places. This was our second stay here ( we were here in March too) and I would recommend it for all you beach babies!

Lovely place. Great staff, honestly these are one of the most hard working I’ve ever met. The kitchen staff and servers were all amazing. A huge shout out to Kelly, Libo and the manager of the restaurants. If you are looking for more of a lively, young vibe this is would not be your go to place, this is a very family centered resort. Please do keep your money in the safe but other than that I definitely recommend staying here. It would have been beneficial if the resort offered more activities and entertainment.

This restaurant is an excellent choice for everyone. There is a significant choice in menu items. I would recommend beef dishes. Deserts are excellent. Danny, Andrea, Noemi and Julio will make your visit very pleasant.

We arrived on 5/14/22 and stayed a week. This was our 2nd visit to Occidental and we absolutely love this resort! The resort is beautiful and we love that the pool is right by the beach so you can view the ocean while poolside. It’s not overcrowded as well. None of the rooms are ocean view so if want that this resort is not for you. The resort is a jungle like feel with the vast greenery. Iguanas are running around but that’s it for wildlife. The sunsets from here are beautiful!!!! The staff are amazing HUGE shout out to Pedro (Activities) he is sooo kind and provided loads of fun during our stay!! The night club/disco is closed as they are using it for a covid testing area but Pedro did a great job with nightly entertainment in the plaza area!! Also a BIG shout out to the waitresses Kelley and Selena who rocked it out pool and beachside!!! Super sweet ladies!! Cleanliness: The rooms were cleaned very well every day by the housekeeping staff Food: we ate at the Steakhouse and it was very good! Let me add Thomas can make a wonderful Sangria :-) The breakfast was always fantastic! Lunch and Dinner buffet are just okay. Masks are required to enter all restaurants right now We enjoy staying at Occidental and will return!

Food and service at the steak house were outstanding! Chef Braulio is a true talent, and Danny, Noemi, and the rest of the staff could not have taken better care of us. Excellent dining experience start to finish.
