Guido's is one of those places that you debate whether you really want to tell everyone about this place because you want this place to be your secret, not share with the rest of the world. I travel quite a bit and always stay in 5 star hotels. Guido's is like a 5 star apartment. The bed is firm (which I like), the A/C is excellent, the location can't be beat. The furnishings are updated, clean and well maintained. Only downside is that I suspect the Island knows the Guido's WIFI password (WIFI is excellent in the morning, very little bandwidth in the evening).

I cannot imagine staying anywhere else, on future visits. An actual apartment, with a separate bedroom, kitchen, laundry, sitting area, excellent A/C, and a small balcony facing the sea, is immeasurably better than any hotel room at several times this price. I have also stayed around the world in AirBnB apartments, but real people's apartments have lots of quirks, every time. This apartment is how a suite hotel should be designed. The location is a spectacular base, ten minutes from the airport. On the sea, close to the Playa del Carmen ferries but far from the cruise ship tourist menace. Taxis on the street, we're north with Mexican locals. Cozumel is hot and sticky; absolutely do not underestimate the effort required in walking half an hour from an alternative hotel just to stage oneself at this base. Cozumel is a great value (much more affordable than, say, the tropical paradise of St. Lucia) because the only real reason to be here is the amazing water, a steady current between the island and the mainland. Don't be tempted by the ocean side, as charmingly remote as it is; it's a half hour drive back to town for any local food, and swimming on that side you could die. There are no real beaches on Cozumel, the movie "Against All Odds" notwithstanding. For 100 to 200 pesos cab fare one can travel south to constructed beaches set up like a Mexican Disneyland, then walk to true isolated beaches if one is persistent. Anywhere the coral is fierce; one might spend hours digging a splinter from one's foot. Bring or buy water shoes. Then, one can swim right from the front gate of these apartments. A half hour walk north along the shore, one finds rocks from which Mexican local families swim, in the best water on the island. The area food is great. I ate everything with no consequences, until I thoughtlessly had a snack at the airport itself, which arrived by courier from an unseen kitchen, and had the expected Mexican result. Eat before you leave.

Cant ask for more. They even allowed me a late check out. Very clean. AC all over the place. Good attention all the time. The restaurant is just under and serves delicious food. Amazing view! Highly recommended.

Great place to stay right downtown. Close to everything. Comfy bed. Nice living room with a small but functional patio. Washing machine and dryer were appreciated. Hard not to eat at Guidos every night

We recently stayed at Guidos boutiqe hotel. It is well located in town a five minute walk from the ferry terminal. The suite was fantastic, with a full kitchen, full sized fridge and dining room table for 8 people. Situated above the best restaurant on the island. My favourite thing was having dinner from the restaurant (Guidos) brought up to our room. What a luxurious way to vacation. The balconies overlook the sea front and would be perfect for carnival.
