Detailed Reviews
Kathy has built what is the best hostel I've ever stayed at. The pool, open courtyard, and kitchen are all very enjoyable. I stayed in an 8 person mixed dorm. Hot water shower in room and 1 additional shower available outside. Laundry lines to dry clothes and towels. Free wifi.
About a 10 minute walk from the ferry. This area is not the tourist area so you need pesos and to try and communicate in spanish to buy food/shop in area.
Currency exchange and ATM nearby.
If you have any questions, ask Kathy, she's a great host.
As a solo women traveler who's older (42) I felt right at home here. It's not a party hostel, everyone's usually in bed by 11pm. I met some great people and had a wonderful time.
Important note, stores stop selling beer at 5pm on Sundays!!

I love this place, I have been there twice and stayed 3 weeks the second time. It’s quiet, it’s very clean, there is a nice garden with hammocks, a swimming pool with sunbeds, a kitchen with everything you need to cook, a poolgame and cute cats and turtles walking around. The beds are very comfortable, you have curtains and your own power plug, rooms is big enough and have lockers and AC. Kathy the owner and her son are very nice, they will take time to explain everything you need to know for your stay on the island and help you if you need anything like renting a scooter or a bike, booking a snorkeling trip for cheaper than anywhere else. I also had opportunities to talk in spanish with the cleaning lady who is also very nice (sorry I forgot her name), she helped many times. This place is also good to socialize with other travelers, most of the people who come here come for snorkeling or diving and it’s always nice to share experiences with others. I will definitely come back to this place if I have opportunity to stay in Cozumel again.

What a great stay! The owner Kathy took great care of us, she was helpful all the way with where and what to visit. The place had a great pool and other cozy outside areas fx the kitchen, were you can sit and chill, while people are making food. The rooms were great to. 10/10 stay! Thank you Kathy!

Had a great weekend in Cozumel at hostel Amigos. Really enjoyed the pool and the silence of the place. The rooms are extra clean, and the beds are great. The common areas are spacious, and all the green areas make you feel like in a country house. This hostel is a true hidden gem of the island.

It was great. All the facilities were super clean, so it is a COVID free place. It is a very good place to stay if you are getting your PADI certification. The host is amazing, she is really helpful. Also, the hostel has a very good location, everything is close.

My daughter and I stayed at Amigos B&B during Easter week 2005. The pool and gardens reminded us of the Garden of Eden; but, there were some problems.
1) Our room had black mold and mildew, and when I told Kathy, the owner, she did nothing to rectify the problem.
2) The airconditioners are extremely old. They're loud and noisy and do not work very well. It took a long time for our room to cool down, and we were not allowed to keep the AC on when we were out of the room.
3) The owners do not make you feel like "Amigos."
We really enjoyed the other guests at the B&B, many of whom were British. But Kathy Kopelman was quite inhospitable to us -- even though her husband is very gracious, she is very standoffish and not very warm to her guests.
When I made my initial reservation, I told Kathy that we had a 6 p.m. flight -- our airline only had one flight back to our home each day. So Kathy told me that after we left our room we could leave our bags in the palapa area until it was time to go to the airport. On our departure day, Kathy was obviously miffed when I asked her if we could leave our bags in the palapa area. It was quite clear that she wanted us out. So we hailed a taxi and spent the rest of the afternoon in the Cozumel airport.
We loved Cozumel and will return someday; however, due to the way were treated, we will find another place to stay.

Great value. Quiet neighborhood within walking distance from downtown. Wonderful pool, courtyard and palapa area. In a fun way, Amigo's is similar to a youth hostel for adults. We met other travelers with an adventurous spirit. We'll definitely book our next Cozumel stay at Amigo's.

Just came back from a week in Paradise on the island of Cozumel.. What made this so special ( we've been to Cozumel MANY times for the spectacular diving with El Gran Azul) is the place we stayed.. Amigo's B&B was super. It is tucked away on a quiet street, yet it IS in downtown,on calle 7.. Just a short walk to the water. The rooms are spacious and have a kitchenette with refrig to keep our XX beers cold.. The breakfast was Yummy and the hostess Kathy is about the most informative and friendly person I have ever met while visiting Cozumel.. This IS THE ONLY place I will stay when I return... Certainly worth the price.. Only three units that book fast, so plan your stays in advance..

The accomodations at Amigo's B & B was nice . . . . for the price. The grounds were very well kept and the pool was great. Bathrooms did need some work as there was a mild stench emanating from the Shower drain. And the sink in the "kitchenette" leaked. But Cozumel or Mexico for that matter, is not known for it's fabulous plumbing. Breakfasts consisted of cereal and a tray of fruit. (again...for the price) As for the hospitality, for the most part the owners were nice and left you alone but on occasion it seemed like you would catch them on a "bad day". Not good for one who works in the "hospitality business". Looking back it seems the Amigo's cat was more hospitable. He never had a bad day. And for next time we will find another place to stay.

If you find comfort and satisfaction in being on a schedule and following rules, this is definitely the place for you. However, for those merely seeking relaxation and not interested in following petty rules from an autocratic "host," you would be well advised to steer clear. Unless, that is, you have a taste for the ridiculous or the absurd in which case you are likely to find much entertainment in the long, trifling reprimands you can expect Kathy to be sliding under your door.

Hi Thanks for your question. Depending on the season when you plan to visit will kind of determine if you should pre arrange anything. Deep Blue Cozumel is the dive shop Amigos works with. Contact them if you want ahead of time, and mention you are staying with us for their specials.
