I booked this through PADI and it was listed as a hotel for divers. It isn't. As much as I love the charm, there's a tub to rinse your gear that they don't keep filled. I was going to fill it, but for 1, it's not my job, 2 the water came out so slow, it would be tomorrow before I could rinse my gear. So every day, I had to lug it to my room, across the slippery when wet beautiful marble tiles to the bathroom and rinse it all in the shower and leave it there because there was nowhere to hang it to dry. I also found rooms across the hotel to do that, but I wasn't going to leave my equipment alone on the other side of the hotel.

They advertise 5 restaurants, there's 1. Owned by Chris, who made our trip amazing! He made special meals for us that were so delicious. So if you do come here, even if it's only for his meals, it's so worth it. We ate almost every lunch and dinner here.

They advertise a hot tub and room service. It's not hot and no room service. Although if we asked Chris, I'm sure he would have even though he isn't with the hotel, he just rents the space. But he is that kind.

If you're coming to just stay and expect nothing, it's great for the money. The staff is so friendly and the room is great.

I would suggest bringing your own beach towels. We had to ask for them, got only 2 the 1st day for 3 of us and couldn't get any more even when we asked. No biggie.

It's a beautiful older resort with really nice garden like grounds. It's right off of the main road, but it seems a little more private than other resorts on the main road. The staff is great and the property is well maintained. The location is good with a couple restaurants, dive shops and smaller convenient stores all close by. You can walk a little bit further to the two cruise ship terminals for more dinning and shopping options, but will need a taxi or other transportation to get into town. I had a superior room which I recommend getting. The bed was comfortable and the rooms are older, but were high end back in the day so they are still pretty good. A full size refrigerator was a nice surprise.

My only complaint that is they took my booking in USD and converted it into Peso's at a bad rate (10% less than the current rate) and sent it to my credit card company which converted it back to USD at 10% more than my booking amount. 10% isn't a big deal at $50 or $100, but at $500 or $1000 it hurts a little more. This does happens in Mexico (the rental car company did the same, but only at 5%) and they did post their exchange rate, but I didn't realize at the time what meant until I saw the Visa bill. Be aware and prepared for this and try not to get caught in this trap.

I’ve been staying at this hotel, two to three times a year, for many years. It’s not the nicest hotel in the island but has a good location across from the beach. The real reason I return over and over is because of the wonderful staff. Fatima at the front desk makes me smile. She is so helpful and honest and makes you feel like you’re family. Jorge is the manager and he makes sure your reservation is always correct. And Fannie, the upstairs maid, cleans your room spotlessly and is very trustworthy. The hotel needs some TLC but I’ll always return because of the wonderful staff. Muchísimas gracias Fatima, Jorge, y Fannie!

I booked Villablanca through Hotwire because of the seemingly good deal, totally ignoring the famous “get what you pay for” advice.
Pros:
Location is good as it is directly across the street from the ocean. There are several restaurants within walking distance along with the one on site. Very good Live entertainment at one of them several nights a week.
The staff is friendly at the office as well as the on site restaurant.
The gardens are beautiful.
Cons:
We arrived before the 3pm check in time and had to wait for our room to be prepared. That’s normal, so I’m not complaining about that, it’s that when we got to our room, it smelled very musty as if nobody had stayed there for a long time. The room was all the way in the back of the property away from everything else. After the maids made up our room on the second day, it smelled much better, so I’m convinced that nobody had been in there for a while.
Our ceiling fan didn’t work and when someone came to look at it, they couldn’t figure out what to do so they just left it like that. It made a humming noise, so it was best to leave it off for fear of starting a fire.
One of the bedside lamps had an issue with the shade not staying on and when I tried to straighten it, I got shocked.
Absolutely no internet back where we were and I really need that when I’m away from home.
Hot water was good one day and non existent the next.
I’ve been to Cozumel 25+ times, stayed at many different hotels and this one ranks down at the bottom.

This is one of the oldest hotel on the island, the structure and the hospitality is beyond words. These people treat you like family. They go above and beyond to help you with anything you need. Sharky’s Restuarant is own and operated by a local individual name Chris this man has been so sweet and will cook you anything you want even if it’s not on the menu. We took a fishing trip and he cook our fish for us in 4 different ways, it was delicious. Sitting outside in the garden surrounded is absolutely comforting. These people here on this island are more cautious about Pandemic then we’re I live in Texas. Very very safe. I like it so much I’m staying another week. Very nice rooms and the service is awesome in the middle of the island beach is right across the street walking distance to any restaurant. Will be back.

Never again. Been staying here for years. Have written many positive reviews but the last two stays have just been - bad! I won’t stay here again and that’s sad as it’s been the go to place three to four times a year for close to 10 years.

Pros-
Location good to dive shops , always stay in superior room.
Rooms always clean ( always musty too) with honest maids

Cons-
We paid for breakfast, but never received one. No coffee, no food, no service and no apologies . So had to go next door for food and pay again with no apologies nor refunds. One night the foodless restaurant was open ( no food though) Went to ask if they may have food in morning and was told to try their“special margarita”. It was SPRITE and a half shot of tequila.
The Musty rooms make clothing smelly and actually grow mildew on them overnight!
Rude staff ( other than maids)
SUPER loud cantina that plays music until 2AM.
Door locks don’t work. Was locked out of the room on second floor 11 times!!! Missed dinner with friends and wasted hours of car rental time.
No apologies.
So paid for room that we couldn’t access and breakfast that was non existent! This now has happened on more than a couple trips.
Also floors near pool are very slippery so take care. Oh and over Christmas there were no hand towels nor wash cloths.

My wife and I were at the Villablanca for 4 weeks in January. The Rooms were very clean and comfortable bed. The grounds are well manicured and not very busy as most guests are divers and are out for the day. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable of the island. Location is great away from down town but only a 100 Peso taxi to the action.

I liked how the property was kept nicely; plants & trees trimmed, pool & statues were clean. The room had a spacious bathroom and bed/living room. Plus a large refrigerator and refreshing, cooling air conditioner. The chilaquiles for breakfast were tasty, but took a long time to be served.

Been to the island many, many times . This is my first time staying at Villablanca . For the price, it is great. Stayed in a superior room . Very large and the fridge was a added bonus. Bathroom is a nice size also . Did have a problem with getting warm water in the shower a few days , but nothing that could not be over-looked . Nice pool area. Very convenient to our dive shop (Papa Hogs) next door. I would stay there again for future trips. It is a no frills hotel but you are also paying a extremely low price . It is clean, safe , and I enjoy the Mexico feel of the hotel. Beautiful grounds , everything is green and lush . Rooms are very quite and AC worked great during our stay.

We have been going to Cozumel for around (20) years. We have stayed in most every section of the island at various resorts. The things you get at all of them are clean and comfortable rooms. The real wild card is getting a good, quiet and safe location. Check all of the boxes for Villa Blanca! The place is centrally located near the south cruise ship terminal. There are several restaurants nearby with a breakfast/lunch place on the premises. The place is definitely "Old School" which is ok. Not a massive lobby etc.. which is ok. Front desk staff was great. You get fresh beach towels every day, which were nice. Parking was good and secure. Grounds were real nice. Had plenty of shade, nice lounge chairs, and the pool was decent. Rooms were again a little "Old School" which was ok. Our room was clean, quiet, good water pressure, great bed. Had a real small balcony which we used to dry out wet gear. Maid service was excellent! A/C and amenities were good including WiFi. The restaurant on-site was good with a very friendly staff. Decent breakfast and lunch. Menu was a little limited. All in all I would definitely stay here again. Well worth the dollar spent!
