We enjoyed our vacation at El Cozumeleño very much! This was the first time I brought my mother but me and my husband/kids have been there several times over the past 20+ years. This trip, since my mother had mobility issues, I requested a ground floor room and it was great. The ONLY negative thing I have to say is that room service was not available for the first 2 floors according to the person that I spoke to when I tried to call for room service. I did not understand why that was the rule and there was a night when my mother was too tired to venture out and wanted to order some things from the room service menu. If that is the rule, they should tell you that when you are making reservations or at least when checking in at the front desk. I did miss the cart that had the ceramics that we could purchase and paint to take home. That may be something that had to be discontinued as a result of the pandemic earlier but hopefully it will come back to the resort at some point. Overall, the atmosphere was very relaxed and David (at the activities center) was absolutely awesome and tried to keep things as uplifting and fun as possible. He even gave us "private" Spanish lessons when nobody else showed up for that activity time. :) My favorite relaxation was provided by Carlos at the Spa! His massage was SO AWESOME that I had to get it done twice!! His partner Jenny did a great job on my mother as well. As usual, Roberto at the lobby activities/dinner reservations booking desk was as sweet, helpful, and friendly as ever! I got to treat my mother to the Dolphinaris Tour which was a GREAT deal that included dolphin interaction, food, drinks, and snorkeling time as well. I also booked us for Parasailing and it was nice that they pick you up at the resort pier. The food quality was great at both the outside restaurant and the dining room inside. We loved the different "drink of the night" at the inside dining room each night - simple thing to do but it makes it a fun treat each night to see what we were going to get. I was disappointed however that there was no guacamole! I didn't see anyone else with it so I didn't think I could even order it from the inside restaurant. The Miami Vice's we were drinking were good and refreshing. The alcohol content seemed very light to non-existent most of the time (which was actually fine for us) but a couple of times we asked for "doubles" and then we could actually taste the alcohol. We were not trying to get drunk so the lighter drinks were fine for us but if people want stronger drinks, it's nice to know that they will fulfill your requests. One of the things my mother commented on was how clean they keep it at the resort. People are always around cleaning and keeping the grounds looking nice. It's an older hotel and there are things that have been worn or broken down a bit (bathroom stall locks) but overall, they do a great job there of keeping things clean. I enjoyed seeing several of the same friendly people there that we have seen in the past: Frederico Roberto Christian Carlos (a few of them!) Manuel Aldo I know I have forgotten a few other names but the staff at El Cozumeleño have always been so friendly, helpful, and respectful. Note to people wondering - Tips are not included in your reservations. I know it's an All Inclusive resort but the staff work very hard and tipping is so appreciated. I'm not a "high roller" kind of person but I do believe in generosity - especially when it's earned by those working hard to take care of you and make you feel as comfortable as possible. Overall - I love vacationing there and can't wait to go back!

As usual the people were beyond expectations. Very friendly, well trained and willing to go out of their way to make me happy. The hotel was all anybody could expect, clean, well furnished and pleasant to just walk thru. whether you wanted room service, palapas dining or in the indoor restaurant, the food and service was first class.

El Cozumeleno is a good resort located on the north side of the island away from all the restaurants and shops. It’s not a 5 star like a Sandals resort (which I have been to) but nice none the less. I was a bit concerned because it was so affordable ($860 2 adults and 10 y/o x7 days all- inclusive) but I was pleasantly surprised during our stay. The resort does charge an additional $10 per day resort fee at check in. The $860 we paid does include the extra resort fee. They have several very nice pools . Food is typical of an all-inclusive resort but they provided a variety of meal options. They also have a variety of mixed drinks and beer. We loved the swim up bar and the beach area. The service was very good. Martha and Erwin at the front desk and Paulino and Santiago the beach/pool servers went above and beyond. Martha made sure we got the room we requested and Paulino and Santiago made sure we never wanted for anything while we lazed by the beach and pool. Another great thing is they have ample smoking areas for us smoker's. Wendy and Carlos at the aquatic center took great care of our grandson. Oscar and Paul at the on-site dive center were super helpful and got us diving. Rudy our dive master helped our grandson with his first dive and was very patient and so very attentive to his needs. All of the staff were nice and friendly. I wish I could remember all their names. Basically, what I mean is the service was great! So if you are looking for an affordable family vacation with good service, this is the place.

Spent 4 dreary days in paradise as a hurricane rolled in from across the Pacific. The food was decent and the drinks were great. The place was well kept but the furniture could use updating. The brightest spot of all was Marisol. She was the most friendly and professional server I have ever met. She seemed like more of a friend than a server. If you’re coming to Cozumel you need to stay here if for no other reason than you get to meet Marisol.

We always have an excellent time at ElCoz. It’s not a 5 star resort but they treat you like 5 stars! The rooms are a little dated, but always clean. The people at Elcozumeleno are what keep us coming back. They treat you like family. I’ve read many reviews of people complaining & I just don’t understand. We have had to change rooms due to air conditioning but they always accommodate us. We’ve had to do that in other resorts as well. No biggie! Move on and enjoy your vaca! I think this was our 6th time here. We’ve been to many other resorts and keep coming back here. ❤️ The pic below is from room 1314. 3rd floor “garden view”.

My family and I visited El Cozumeleño in Cozumel, May 2022 with the all inclusive package. Please hear me out that I’m not an angry guest just wanting to bash the hotel with negative reviews. We had a fine time, I just wish I had known some of these things before we chose this hotel and hope that my review might could help someone else make the decision as which hotel is best for them. The staff could not have been more friendly, personable, and helpful. Above and beyond excellent customer service at the restaurants, bars, and wait staff around the pools. The food was extremely below average in flavor and variety. Most meat tasted like it was frozen/ defrosted and not fresh. The cheese on nachos and tacos was the canned fake cheese sauce like you get at a baseball game. The buffets were very marginal with not many options to choose from. The dinner restaurant where you order from the menu, La Veranda, was inside with no air conditioning. Our entire table had sweat pouring down the entire meal. This food was slightly better than the buffets, but the atmosphere was absolutely miserable because we were so hot and uncomfortable. The wait staff, again was exceptional though in their service. The alcohol might have been the most disappointing. The only liquor offered is bottom shelf, which can be expected sometimes at these kind of resorts, but there were no fresh fruits for margaritas, punches, strawberry daiquiris, etc. (not even a lime with a tequila shot or margarita). Everything was made with very cheap syrup concentrate that basically ruined every drink. Then opting for beer, your only choice is Dos Equis on draft. I’m not sure how you mess this up, but it was awful. No carbonation and warm. The bedrooms were simple with mostly working air conditioners but had mold in the showers, open exposed electrical wires for the hair dryer, constantly dripping shower heads, and hard beds. You are given access to a locking safe in the room and nice big pool towels, but the room towels were less than desirable. The deep tissue massage was $85/ hr and was nothing more than a light Swedish massage. The website listed many entertainment options such as shows, themed nights, dancing, etc… and none of this was offered our entire stay of 4 days. The property was deserted by 7:00p every night as I think everyone left and went into town. While going into town is definitely something I recommend, it was frustrating that we had already paid for meals and drinks at this hotel and ended up having to pay again for quality food and drinks in town. Taxis were available right outside the lobby doors which made it easy to grab a ride to town though. There are no mini fridges in any rooms, but you could rent one for $18/ day. There are no working ice machines on the property, so the only way to get ice was downstairs in the bar. The hot tub was the same temperature as the pools. The beach is very nice and was cleaned daily. The portioned off little “bay” is amazing for snorkeling and exploring the many many fish right off the beach. PS- the fish love little chunks of bread! Overall we enjoyed our time in Cozumel, but ultimately would not recommend this hotel or stay here again. I hope this helps give you a picture of what to expect when choosing hotels for your future vacation.

Just stayed a week at this resort and we couldn’t be more satisfied with the service and staff. Marisol was awesome in the cabanas and pool side. Really anytime we saw her she was friendly, helpful and on top of it. Elmer at the inside bar is also great!

1) The rooms are very very old. Smells very heavy moisture and mold within the room. AC is just as the same age with the hotel and you can not sleep due to noise. 2) wifi does not work in the rooms. Only in lobby and bars and weak on beach. 3) foods are not open buffet. Im really surprised that noone mentioned that. They only have a menu for breakfast lunch and dinner for 2 options with plates. Plus you have a snack bar (burgers nachos vs) First time experience within a all inclusive hotel. 4) Drink quality is 4/10. 5) Do not expect anything from the gym 6) There is an alacarte restaurant but you cant get in if you dont wear trousers (long pants) in 32C nights!!!!!!!!! The menu inside is again very limited just doubles the option of regular restaurant. 7) There are no garden view rooms. They free upgrade to ocean view rooms. Do not bother making a reservation to ocean view rooms. All rooms look to the ocean. 8) you need to pay 150 USD deposit cash or credit card to enter the hotel. 9) They take 10 usd per night as a cozumel island fee even if you pay all the taxes during reservation. 10) No minibars in the rooms. Only one half liter water bottle is put on first day. You have to take water glasses from the bars and lobby. They also sell bottled water if you prefer... 11) Towels in the room turned gray from white due to aging. Positives; Good beach without seaweed Super friendly staff General Note: We really feel we are scammed with all of these disappointments. Too bad. Worst holiday experience in my lifetime.

My boyfriend and I had an absolutely lovely and relaxing time. I was amazed at how many workers they have on staff that were constantly accommodating and pleasant with every guests needs of food, drinks, and questions. Yes, the hotel is not in it's pristine youth, so some of the bathroom fixtures are dated and need some tending and polish, but the beating that an ocean front property must endure, the grounds are gorgeous, clean, and very well maintained. I loved the classical piano music by the pool. The food is also really good. It's not going to meet everyone's culinary tastes, but considering the price point of this all inclusive hotel and the friendly, excellent service, I didn't care that the "carrot cake" was nothing like a carrot cake from the states. I chose the foods from the buffets and menus that I wanted to try-some hits, some misses but all of it was perfectly good, clean, well presented, tasty food. Our Sky Ocean View was breathtaking, and we both thought the bed was comfy and the sheets a nice thread count. The pier at the end of their beach conveniently blocks the seaweed that drifts from the north so the water is that crystal clear turquoise sea along with a soft white sand beach. We will definitely return!
