This was my first stay at a palace resort and on the island of Cozumel. The Cozumel Palace is a very nice resort with a few caveats and inconsistencies . Although a few staff were not particularly engaging or friendly, the majority of them were friendly and very willing to go above and beyond . Special mention to Josie who provided good service. Charlie the entertainment lead was the best too! Our room was on the third floor. at the western end of the building. It was located near a mechanical room which was quite noisy. Although it didn't disturb our sleep it could be an issue for some, so try to reserve a room near the eastern end of the building. Not only will it be quieter but save you some steps to the elevator(There is only one for the entire property, other than a service elevator which we used about 1/2 the time) which proved to be a long hike. The room was well laid out and i would rate it 5 stars. King size bed, jacuzzi tub, bar and fridge fully stocked. a small living room area with loveseat, chairs and table, perfect for room service that was available at no extra charge! A veranda with chairs, table and Hammock, The view was amazing! The room was kept very clean and well stocked. No security issues either. Food. There are 3 themed restaurant's for dinner each night as well as a buffet Oriental/Indian, Italian and Mexican. The Oriental themed restaurant, provided the best dinign experience followed by the Mexican themed restaurant. The Italian restaurant tried really hard but was a bit of a disappointment to me. ( I have been blessed to eat in Italy and have access in my community to many very good Italian restaurant's ) The Dinner Buffet provided a good variety of food choices and food was generally fresh. I would recommend getting there early as the food is sometimes picked over and cold as the night goes on. By far the best food was at breakfast! the Buffet was full of fresh fruit, breads and yogurts. The French toast was to die for. The lady preparing the custom egg dishes was amazing! Huevos Motuleños were out of the park! Pool and Amenities The pool area is split into 3 main areas. the far eastern would be the most tranquil and best bet to relax, the centre pool is the activity area and is closer to the bar in fact it has a swim up bar. and then there is a smaller pool area generally for kids. The hotel is located on a coral reef so there isn't really a beach per say although the hotel has two sandy areas with chairs and grass roof shelters. The only complaint with regard to the pool set up is that young children could be heard screaming in the pool area. This was more of a problem with bad parenting then with the resort. Its a delicate issue for sure for the staff to handle but i would have appreciated staff to intervene and issue a caution to the parents. Also the hotel did not enforce a pool closure time and children were observed in the pool in the evening. Bar and Entertainment The main lobby bar is well stocked with top shelf product that staff will generously give to thirsty patrons. I was very pleased to enjoy Grand Marnier for a night cap. The entertainment was reasonably good each night with good variety The highlight of the stay was the Michael Jackson show!! The pool bar provided good service but could have benefited from offering a menu of specialty tropical drinks that would help guests to pick a good local drink. This resort overall provided a good to very good first experience. There are a few areas that could use improvement and the resort is starting to wear a bit in places( chair pads and some trim and flooring in the common areas)

Hotel's Favorite
Traveling from New York is a two flight trip, so it has to be worth it, and Cozumel Palace is! The hotel is beautiful and kept extremely clean. We were very comfortable and every room has a view! First, there is the staff: Dora, who scheduled our Covid test for us and then arranged for a romantic dinner when she heard we were celebrating an anniversary. After our romantic dinner, there was a lovely surprise waiting for us in our room. When, unfortunately, we had to take a trip to the hospital, she came with us to lend support. Pedro, the head of Security, also came and then picked us up. Such beautiful people. Then there is Joel, the Sommelier. He is someone who truly loves his job and loves sharing his incredible knowledge of wine. He is also one of the sweetest people we ever met! So glad we made this new friend. Then there are the restaurants! We started with Agura, which is Indian cuisine. Fabulous! You must try it! The chef, Honorio, clearly put his heart and soul into these dishes. The manager, Selene, was also very proud of what they created. We had similar experiences with the Japanese and Italian restaurants! The wait staff was super friendly. Special shout out to Evert, Kika, Ruisel , Eric, Ivanovich, Jonathan, and the hostess, Martha!!! Go for the Cozimil dinner and wine tasting events , totally worth it! All of this with that beautiful ocean right there. Can’t forget that ocean!! My husband and I will definitely be back!!

We have chosen Cozumel Palace as our destination for the past 5 years. I have to say, this trip has been far the worst and most disappointing . It started with checkin and has continued throughout the week. Unless you are member, you are frowned upon. Whenever you ask for anything, they glance at your wrist and and simply say “ oh well, you are not a member so that is not possible”. I enquire about resort credits we had left over from previous visits. I was actually snickered at for asking, I was told that they no longer offer resort credits unless you are member and all previous resort credits have expired. No provisions made due to the inability of travelling due to COVID. This resorts use to be simply the best in my opinion but has now gone to the bottoms of the list. While I still love the Cozumel island and the people, I think it is time to explore other resorts or Airbnb. Sorry COZUMEL PALACE but it’s was fun but it’s time to move on!

I have had to move my trip around a few times to accommodate family schedules, so have booked and canceled a few times before, enough to better understand Palace's poor cancelation policies and procedures.   Whether I am being fair or not in rating a "1" I will let the readers determine and simply state what happened.  It is possible that I am being too harsh about their unwillingness to refund more than 2 of the 5 days of my family's travel.     Two of the four members of my family began having head cold symptoms two days before our scheduled vacation at Palace Cozumel. We got home COVID tests the next day, the day before our planned stay and the ones with symptoms were COVID positive. Though the symptoms were very mild, it is clear that it would be unfair to others for us to go, so I called to cancel. Because it was the day before travel, the hotel agreed to refund only 2/5 of our five-day stay, which was related to their five-day cancelation rules. I think it was unfair not to refund more; I would have been happy with being penalized for one of the five days (or even receiving resort credit), but under the circumstances, I think too much of the burden of cancelation was placed on my family. All of us have been vaccinated three times. By not traveling, we were trying to protect other guests and Palace employees, not ourselves. Consider also that we are "Elite Members" (paid extra for discounted future visits) and previously loyal customers--this would have been our fourth trip to a palace resort. Also disappointing was the cumbersome procedure. I spoke with Patty E. about canceling, who was perfectly polite. After learning that I was getting a too meager refund, she told that I had to fill out a form to request a refund. As mentioned above, I have canceled twice before because of changing family schedules. Each prior time, I receive a different response. Once I had to "apply" for my refund and the other time the agent handled this for me. I told Patty that another agent had handled the cancelation for me, but she said that this was impossible. Ug. explained that she could not refund my card because she could only see the last four digits. Good! Even so, there should be a way to credit someone without requesting them to send all credit card information non-securely to a foreign country. I asked Patty to send the form not only to the email on file, but to a different one for my convenience. She said she coud not do this. Strangely, another agent, Raphael, in exactly the same circumstanes a few weeks prior, was happy to help. Applying for a refund cost me another 20 minutes of my time.

We are annual or semi-annual visitors and only come back to Cozumel Palace even though there are many choices through Palace Resorts. All the rooms have ocean views so there are no bad rooms. We really enjoyed all the restaurants but especially the Agra Indian Restaurant. The staff in all the restaurants do such a great job. I would like to have management tell the customers that tips are welcomed. The waitresses and waiters have to really work hard serving everyone and tips are the way we typically reward great individual service. The restaurant managers Selene, Evert, Jesus, Gabriel, Juan, Luis Angel and Johnny do a great job making sure everything runs so smoothly. Abraham, Isaias and Pascual do the heavy lifting as the bell men out front and are so friendly. The front desk staff of Manuela, Ana, Zhayra, Julio, Joel and Jailene get everyone to their rooms. They are completely bilingual. Nina and Dora are always ready to help. The restaurant managers Selene, Evert, Jesus, Gabriel, Juan, Luis Angel and Johnny do a great job making sure everything runs so smoothly. The restaurant hostesses Lulu, Sarahy, Martha and Berenece keep everything moving and greet everyone with a smile. The waitresses and waiters are excellent and work hard. Rocio, Emanuel, Herri, Lourdes, Fili, Lalo, Enrique, Marco, Carlos, Moses, Russel, Karina, Erika, Eddy, Jossie and Kathia have been great for us. Carmen and Melani in the Bugambilias Restaurant makes the best fresh tortillas and toppings. Maria at the breakfast grill is without equal. I have not met many of the chefs but Aldo who works during the lunch hour and Luis who works at Bugambilias make some wonderful food. The lunch chefs at the outside grill are in constant motion and it gets hot out there. All the chefs deserve to be recognized. The bar tenders are amazing. Juan (Juanito), Reyes, Jose Cme, Rodrigo, Christian, Raul and Enrique. Nelson, Darwin and Vincente make it easy to book diving and snorkeling trips. David keeps everyone happy around the pool. The entertainment staff (Rodrigo, Abi, Leslie, Charlie, Luis, David, Eli, Irene and Moses) make the afternoons and evenings fun for everyone. Rodrigo does a great job being a personal trainer in the gym for anyone who wants to get a really good workout. Aqua Safari provides great diving and snorkeling services. They pick up and drop off at the dock located at the resort.
