I booked a night stay at this hotel for end of March through hotels.com. Three days before my stay, I received an email from the hotel saying do not come to the hotel as it’s been occupied by armed thugs. I asked for a refund they said I have to go through hotels.com I contacted hotels.com they said the hotel needs to authorise the refund and they are waiting for them to respond I still haven’t received my refund

Worth every penny. Location to the ruins is simple and the shuttle quick. Location off the toll road is easy to find as well. The services and staff were exceptional. Food maybe a little pricey but was again excellent. The actual hotel and grounds are beautiful and carefully maintained. Its as if you're staying in a jungle sanctuary with the birds and creatures. The Hotels resident peacock is also very friendly and like me had a big appetite. My room was in the main Building and like some of the other reviews was a suite with a view of the Observatory. I can not say I found fault with anything. The view, the amenities, the house keeping etc. The Hotel even set me up with a guide; Victor Gonzales. He was great. This was the best stay of my visit to the Yucatan. Thanks to the staff, you all were great!

We had a very enjoyable two night stay at the hotel. We stayed in the main building in an Observatory View room, which was clean, comfortable and nicely air conditioned. There were a few guests our first night and we were the only guests on our second night. Despite that, the staff was great and food good. It is a five minute drive to the site, and we’ll worth it so as to be able to get there when it opens before the crowds from Cancun and the strong sun. WiFi connection was excellent from the room and restaurant. We were to,d that it wasn’t as good from the bungalows

We booked the hotel solely because you can potentially enter the Ruin site Park Chichen Itza from the Hotel Property. But that is no longer possible "due to Pandemic"was the excuse. Instead you have to take the shuttle from the hotel. From the site the last one goes back short after lunch time. Which is not good. You can walk back and climb the fence but that is not legal. Prices are ridiculously high! We had to beg them to open a tab for us otherwise they want to charge you for EVERY meal or drinks seperate. Breakfast buffet is overpriced better order a la carte which comes out a lot cheaper. The room with jacuzzi and view is ok but not well sealed and again overpriced. Be aware there is NO elevator.

Wonderful settings just by the ruins. As soon as we parked someone came with a cart to carry our luggage. We were staying for 3 nights (2 would be ok) but were upgraded to the observatory superior room, and were not disappointed, directly facing the mayan observatory that we were able to see in daylight, sunset, night, dawn… The restaurant though is really not very interesting. As the “private” access to Chichen Itza is closed because of the pandemic, we were offered the shuttle the following morning and were supposed to be picked up at 11:30, but had to wait till 12.15. 45 minutes in the sun is not very pleasant -especailly for the kids. We should have taken our own car. I called the hotel twice, and there wasn't any explanation or apology. So between the restaurant below expectations both for dinner and breakfast, the shuttle incident, I am unfortunately not able to rate Mayaland better.

This hotel is beautiful. Our room was amazing and looked out over Chichen Itza. The hotel gets a 5 - that could not have been better. A couple things I did not like was: 1. The special opening going direct to the ruin was closed. That was a perk of staying at the hotel; to go an hour early via a special opening. That did not happen. The worst thing that happened was that my atm card got stuck in their machine and their sense of urgency was not there. They basically said to just cancel the card and said this until we were about to leave when the bank finally showed up. The bank recovered 5 additional credit cards from other guests! I'm sure those guest turned in the issue - who wouldn't turn it in if a machine ate their card. Anyhow, it was resolved. Our room had a direct view of the ruin. Was perfect. I love the patios with the rocking chairs. They were perfect as well as the courtyard in the hotel. Very pretty.

I had wanted to stay here for years. Thanks to Covid, my trip was delayed by 3 years. It is a beautiful setting. It is very secure and inaccessible to outsiders. There is a security gate with guards. The hotel is old, but I found it to be in good condition. My room was lovely; with a view of the mayan observatory. I took a tour from Cancun to Chichen Itza. That was about the only way to get to ML without a $200 taxi ride. The tour was with Viator and very good. It cost about $125 dollars. We had a nice bus and got entrance to Chichen Itza, stopped to swim in a ceynote and had lunch. The bus dropped me in Vallododid and I took a taxi to Mayalands. ML is very isolated. The only way to drink and eat is at the hotel restaurant/ bar. I found both a bit pricey for Mexico. A mojito was about $8(dollars) If I'd go again, I would stock up on supplies at the supermarket in Cancun. Restaurant food was good, but bland and little variety. Fish or chicken with rice and veggies was the norm. Wait staff was very attentive. BTW, no Cambio at hotel! Of course, you can use a credit card for virtually everything, but I believe cab drivers and vendors want pesos. Don't fall for the "need a Dr signature" for the covid test. Airport in Cancun has lab test in 30 min. for $14 dollars US. Do not wait until your flight is ready to board to get the test! They are slow. BTW, the pool in Feb. was very cold. All in all, it was a good trip. FAB views at C.I. and Mayalands for this photographer!

We booked this hotel prior to the pandemic for a stay in 2021 which we obviously hAd to cancel. We were finally able to go and we're so disappointed. While the grounds are quite lovely, the rooms are sad and in desperate need of a major renovation. I originally booked this hotel based on the sur access to the Chichen Itza site. Well, because of Covid, you no longer have this perk so need to take the shuttle for the light show. And if you don't have a guide or car, you need to take the shuttle in the morning. So, i'd recommend finding a more updated hotel if you don't have this exclusive access to the ruins.

Arriving to the hotel was easy following GPS and road signs, it has very cool surroundings, and large parking right across the lobby. As soon as we parked someone came with a cart to carry our luggage. Then checking was a bit confusing, they asked us to sit at a table next to the hotel bar (we haven’t seen the lobby yet at that time) then the receptionist offered us some lemonade and brought lot of papers to explain location of hotel, its map, and asked us about our plans, then started explaining pricing for guided tours, etc.. We were able to book a french speaking guide for the following morning, and then were giving our keys. We booked the observatory superior room, and were not disappointed, it was in 3rd floor and directly facing the mayan observatory that we were able to see in daylight, sunset, night, dawn… the room seems from another age, but was totally comfortable, clean and well kept. We would have preferred a King bed instead of the doubles but they don’t have any. We spent the afternoon walking around the property, it had beautiful gardens, multiple bungalows and swimming pools. A lot of nice animals were crossing peacocks, squirrels, … The dîner wasn’t as great as the rest of the experience but still fine. As the “private” access to Chichen Itza is closed because of the pandemic, we were offered the shuttle the following morning and were supposed to be picked up at 8:00AM and take the shuttle back at 10:30. The breakfast service was so slow that we had to eat fast in order to catch-up the shuttle. We spent excellent time in chichen itza, and the guide (Juan Pat) recommended by the hotel was beyond excellent. We were back at Chichen Itza parking lot at 10:26 and saw that the hotel van was already leaving its spot, we waved at it, he ran just in front of us and didn’t stop… completely disrespectful, specially we were on time and that he left earlier. We took a taxi at our charge to avoid waiting an extra hour for the next van. It was a one stay, we checked out afterwards and I have used the ATM to withdraw some Mexican pesos but unfortunately forgot my card in there, only realizing it when we arrived at our next hotel in Merida.. I realized then all phone numbers of the hotel on internet leads to a dead end, and found no way to contact Mayaland reception directly. Hopefully our hotel did manage to find one, and the only answer the receptionist was able to provide was to block the card, thanks for the info… So between the kind of weird checkin process, the restaurant below expectations both for dinner and breakfast, the shuttle incident, and the lack of empathy and help with the ATM thing (that of course doesn’t belong to them, but bank guys are coming daily to refill it, they could’ve found a solution to avoid us the pain of losing our payment mean in the middle of an oversea trip).. I am unfortunately not able to rate Mayaland better.

The ambiance and location are fantastic! The room was comfortable, the only downfall was the abundance of small bugs in the bathtub. We really wanted to soak in the Jacuzzi tub, but decided against it due to the bugs. The grounds are gorgeous and the pool was refreshing. We ate breakfast in the outdoor atrium before our visit to Chichen Itza. They offer a shuttle to the entrance because the entrance closest to the hotel was closed during our stay. The hotel is historic and boasts a lot of celebrity visitors. We are happy we chose this as place to stay on our trip!
