Sotavento Hotel is a good choice if you want to stay just a few nights in Cancun's Hotel Zone. It offers nice, clean and well maintened rooms. Continental breakfast is fine, however it would be nice if fresh fruits would be served. The bar in the hotel claims to offer discounted drinks during the happy hour, but its choice is... More

Don't do it; just stay elsewhere. This place is a dump, and the stench of mould will keep you up all night; if you can even stay. We didn't, and bailed to another hotel down the road once we realized there was no way we'd ever get to sleep with our noses and sinuses burning from the smell of mould.... More

Honestly, I tried - it looked okay and clean, we were not in the room that long, since mostly gone through the day. But it was while sleeping through the night, that I couldn't take the moldy/musty smell anymore. I was coughing and needing to blow nose getting so congested. It was the place that the free vacation to Cancun... More

Cons: This is a small, out of the way hotel that is covered in large, beautiful by tropical plants and flowers. It is across the street from the major hotels but you wont even fell like you are in the hotel zone. It feels more like the deep Mayan Rivera areas of the jungle once inside the property. The restaurant... More

The Sotavento grew on me a bit in the midst of my 4 day stay. What I liked; -Clean rooms and well maintained overall facility. -Restaurant served very good lunches and dinners at a very modest price. Best were the Fajitas and Burritos. Nice ambiance right on the lagoon. -Lush tropical trees and plants. -Tropical pool setting. What was o.k.:... More

Our stay was only one night and the staff were very helpful throughout. However, I think the photos greatly exaggerated the cleanliness of the facility. The room was white plaster on the walls and ceiling and smelt mouldy, and the shower took some time to heat up after I was done putting the faucet back together. The restaurant area was... More

I visited this place for our vacation this December 2015, and we consider that this place is good. It has a good location to visit many places of Cancun. The rooms are clean, and the service is very good. You have to realize that it is not a five stars resort but it is Ok for the price. We flu... More

Firstly I must say that this was my first stop and stay in Mexico so I have nothing to compare it too the rest of Mexico. This is a a gorgeous quiet place with a lovely outdoor resturant and clean pool on the lake and friendly staff . It was advertised as having wifi in rooms but it doesn't. I... More

It's good, clean, safe and well located. Not the right place if you are looking for the "Cancun experience" as this is a no-frills hotel, offering a basic, affordable accomodation. The pool area is ok and the restaurant is good and cheap (do try it!), but the included breakfast really sucks, as other reviews have already mentioned; have your breakfast... More
