From the moment we arrived things felt different. I was here 6 weeks ago, and obviously had a great time to come back so soon, however this time was super disappointing from the second we arrived. I’m not sure if they are under new management or what, but it was AWFUL. The service was awful, the food was awful, management was awful. We asked to speak to management, we dealt with Jose who was less than helpful. There was Jorge Noriega, who is the most unprofessional arrogant person I have ever met. He confused our group with another group and instead of apologizing he was just arrogant and cocky. I would be super embarrassed as a company to have him as a manager dealing with the public. His customer service is lacking majorly. As a travel blogger I visit many places and this is by far the worst experience I have ever come across. The food was a huge disappointment. I can’t say I ever had a decent meal. And the service in the restaurants weren’t that good. If you are looking for a fun time, with good food and service, I highly recommend you look elsewhere. I will say, Johnathon at the pool is the bees knees. He tried to remedy the situation the best he could. Cresc, Tony, Jose and Heiner at the swim up bar, inside bar (by MB) and beach bar were all fantastic bartenders. Carlos the lifeguard on the beach was great. I’m disappointed that a place that was so welcoming and so amazing 6 weeks ago was a very unwelcoming, exhausting trip this time. I think we spent more time arguing with management (which should never be the case) never accomplishing anything, then enjoying a vacation. Highly recommend looking into other options in Cancun as there are so many!!

This is our second trip, and we are having so much fun. Staff is amazingly friendly and helpful, and the food is spectacular. The breakfast bar is just as memorable as before, now laden with tiny plates and individually wrapped portions, instead of the self serve family portions. I love it! Such a great adaptation to the current environment. Also - the crepes are my favorite part of each day. 😋 Thank you especially to Cesar at MB, Hector at breakfast as well as Chef Moises, Chef Fransisco, Chef Benjamin and most important, pastry Chef Norvalino. We enjoyed being a part of your family for a few days and cannot wait to return.

We arrived on a Sunday and immediately had lunch in the italian restaurant, had a four cheese pizza that reminded me of those I had in Rome. Dinner on the MB was Marvelous Chefs Cesar and Moises were very attentive to the detail, dessert was amazing Chef Benjamin did a really good job. The sommelier at the MB did a good job with the wine pairing. We spent the next day eating by the pool, had a couple of hot dogs and a hamburger perfectly cooked by Elder, but what I find most mention worthy is that the buns are baked here and are GREAT! Good job Chefs Benjamin and Francisco Cruz. Mexican breakfast is a nice start for a relaxed day, Chef Norbelin was at our service at all times. Hotel is really tidy and clean. Pools are crystal clear. If you're a up to a drinking day, you can have a good time at the beach having cocktails all brought directly to your place. Andrés from the beach bar was excellent at mixing.

TLDR: High end, well maintained, and overall excellent. Would compare to Four Seasons Bora Bora I returned from 4 days/3 nights at Live Aqua with my wife and her sister and I will try to give an objective and fair evaluation of the stay. As a background I have had the privilege of world travel at many exotic locations. This has unfortunately left me as a very picky traveler who tends to be somewhat harsh on my reviews. Staff: Lets start here. The hospitality is fantastic. The employees truly appear to enjoy their roles, and all of our interactions were outstanding, with many employees going out of their way to make sure our stay was excellent. There are so many that I could mention, but I would like to acknowledge two in specific. First, Sophie the PR manager communicated with me before arrival to make sure my first and second days at the resort were not "lost days". As many of you know, without assistance at a new place, travelers can end up burning hours and days trying to navigate a new place. Sophie ensured we had dinner lined up at MB our first night, as well as a cabana reserved for our next day. She checked in with us throughout our stay and really went over the top. A+ Secondly, our breakfast server Oscar made sure to wait on us each morning and quickly learned our preferences and gave us that top notch hospitality that a high end resort should provide. Kudos. Physical grounds: If you have traveled in the tropics then you know how maintenance is a non-stop process. This is the part where you the reader needs to pay attention. THEY HAVE SUFFERED THROUGH 2 HURRICAINES AND 2 TROPICAL STORMS IN 3 MONTHS. Yet the grounds are immaculate. Absolutely pristine. Yes there is some physical damage to the entry lobby but it is actively being repaired and does not affect one's stay at all. We walked almost the entire hotel zone strip in Cancun and I can confidently say LA has the best beach. Easily. The pool area is really great. All the pools were very clean, heated, and not crowded. Another benefit is that the resort and pools are positioned horizontally to the ocean, unlike some resorts like Secrets the Vine which is narrow. The benefit of this is that all the pools have amazing vistas of that spectacular beach and ocean beyond. I must also mention the cabanas as this is a critical point for us. The sun in the tropics anywhere in the world is intense! We are careful about our sun exposure but like to be out enjoying the ocean and the sand. LA shines in this department as they have a massive amount of cabanas catering to each desire whether it is pool or beach locations. The cabanas are very generous size and in excellent condition with comfortable mattresses. The cabanas and deck chairs are also spread out and we never felt crowded. A+ Room: We stayed in the Aqua Suite, and I would compare it favorably to the overwater suites at the Four Seasons Bora Bora. Both are constantly exposed to tropical weather, and I would dare say our suite was in better condition that what we experienced at the Four Seasons. The bed and linens were supremely comfortable. Two bathrooms helped me get out of the ladies' way and was very appreciated. The view off the huge patio is dynamite, and is a great balance of privacy yet views. Plainly this is a high end suite, and experienced travelers should be very satisfied. Food/Beverage: We don't travel internationally to eat American/Continental food, so I need to get that out there right up front. We thought the food was excellent for an all-inclusive (AI). I will again compare to Bora Bora. Our dinners at MB was easily as good as what we experienced at the Four Seasons French restaurant in Bora Bora. Is it worthy of a Michelin star? Of course not, but I have yet to find any resort in my travels that is Michelin star worthy. Having said that it easily hangs with resort food that I have had in Bora Bora, Maldives, etc. Remember this is AI. My dinner for two at Bora Bora cost $400+. I would compare MB to a Ruth's Chris or Del Frisco's quality restaurant. Breakfast was at Siete which doubles as their Mexican restaurant later in the day. Plainly it was lights out excellent. Easily was superior to the breakfast in Maldives and Bora Bora. The fresh fruit smoothies from Marco were a delight. Also, once I let Oscar know I wanted to experience traditional Mexican cuisine, the chefs made off-menu items that were superb. Lunch options are numerous and high quality. Our favorite was the Sea Corner. A very idyllic location with fresh fish. As our trip was short we did not have an opportunity to eat at many of the other restaurants for dinner, but that will be on the to-do list for next trip. Additionally because of covid and the hurricaines, two dining options (steak + lobster grill, Inlaa'kech) were closed. This is no fault of the resort, and I look forward to trying them in the future. One touch we really appreciated was the small food bite locations like sushi and the crepe stations. The drinks are delicious and free flowing. Our favorite was to have Marco make us a fresh fruit smoothie at breakfast and then have the bar add shots of rum to it. People, that is a $20-30 drink alone at other resorts. The pool made drinks have some fresh fruit and some mixers which is to be expected and they use middle/top shelf alcohol which again speaks to the quality. In the evening the restaurants have a great selection of unique cocktails that were outstanding and would fit well at a high end Manhattan restaurant. Finally, do not miss the flaming coffee. Just amazing. Spa/Gym: LA resort is doing a great job making the spa and gym experience seamless during Covid limitations. The gym is a decent size for the resort, and I found everything I needed to do decent lifting. There are a combination of dumbbells up to 50 pounds, machines, a smith machine with plates, and treadmills/recumbent bikes. There is not a spin bike which I would suggest might be a good addition in the future. In regards to the spa, my wife and her sister got a "couples" massage and reported that it was as good as any deep tissue massage they have gotten anywhere else. Vibe: This is a primary driver of where we choose our locations. We like a chill/zen vibe, without a party atmosphere. If you want a thumping party go to the Hard Rock. LA has a very French Polynesia fell. The grounds are lush, and the ambience is quiet but not dead. Yes, there is the swim up pool for those that want a little more energy, but that is easy to avoid. Overall I would use the term classy for the vibe. It really hit all the notes we were looking for. Summary: I have mentioned Four Seasons Bora Bora multiple times here for a reason. Yes I know the FS is isolated on its own atoll strip, but besides that there are many similarities. I would hands down compare LA to FS Bora Bora favorably. Given the choice when factoring price and travel time I would likely choose to come to LA. I know, I can't believe I'm writing that but its true. So, are you going to Cancun? Are you looking for a place which is high-end but not pretentious? Has the best beach and pools in the area? Are you looking for thoughtful and delicious food and beverage? Most of all are you looking to be at a resort where the employees take pride in their service and deliver and international quality level of hospitality? If you answered yes to these questions then Live Aqua Cancun is for you.
