GR Solaris Cancun garners praise for its vibrant atmosphere, complete with lively entertainment that creates a welcoming vibe. While the resort's cleanliness and ideal location near the beach are highly commended, guests have called out difficulties with restaurant reservations and the quality of food, which detracts from its overall value. The amenities, including numerous pools and dining options, are appreciated, though some service aspects could be improved. Noise levels can be problematic, but the staff's warm and attentive service consistently earns rave reviews from guests.

This was my first stay in Cancun and therefore my first stay at the GR Solaris resort. I traveled with a friend and we had a fantastic time. Because of the many restaurants, buffet options, and room service, we were never worried about being hungry. There were many different food options and all were delicious. The bartenders both in the lobby and at the pool were very friendly and provided quick service (plus they made great drinks!). Our room was spacious and the view from the balcony was lovely. Each day our room was cleaned thoroughly. The activities and entertainment provided by the poolside entertainers were lively and fun!

The location from the shopping mall further down the block was about a 10 minute bus ride along a straight road, so very easy to navigate. Transfers to and from the airport and excursions were guided by staff outside the front doors.

I am a very nervous traveler and was concerned about becoming sick from the drinking water or food but I had no such problems at all. All water and ice was made from filtered water and the food was always fresh and very well cooked. Overall, I had an exceptionally good time and I would highly recommend this resort to anyone! My next trip to Cancun will definitely be back here!!!

This is our 3rd year visiting. The resort has always been exceptionally clean, however with COVID they aren't taking any chances. We felt safe the entire time and didn't see anyone doing anything that made us feel unsafe. The property is located on an excellent part of the ocean with a beautiful beach. The pools are always clean and inviting and bartenders keep the glasses full. The member benefits are also a very nice touch and make us feel like VIPs. Things like the Premium Owners bar, Galla dinner, welcome party, free airport transportation (both ways), a trip to Isla Mujeres to snorkel, laundry discounts, and I'm sure I'm missing more.

All of the staff is excellent and we don't have a single complaint about anyone, I think this is what sets Solaris apart. This is our 3rd year back and consistently the staff at Solaris is hands down the best! They truly are world-class. A few people who really went above and beyond that I would like to recognize are:

Jesse from Premier Class was really great to us during check-in and throughout our entire stay! He paid really good attention to our needs and made sure that we always had our reservations sorted out. We forgot to make our reservations for the Thursday trip to Isla Mujeres and he and David really went above and beyond to sort it out for us even though it was our mistake. His charisma and friendly demeanor are very welcoming. We look forward to seeing him every year. He truly makes us feel like family and welcomed, so much so that we're sad to leave and miss him already.

Claudia, Lalo, Ruben, Fernando, and Jona from the entertainment staff at GR Solaris and Ana and Oliver from Royal really go above and beyond. They always made sure everyone was having a fun time. This is one of the things that really helps build your brand and keeps people coming back and inviting friends and family. We look forward to seeing which new activities they think of every year, as well as participating in some of the old ones. One thing that is really nice is their energy. I'm a shy person and they still make me feel welcome and encourage me to participate. Even when the weather was poor we had just as much fun inside.

Carlos (Veneto) and Josephina (Bogavanta) offered us exceptional service during our meals. They always made sure that we had everything we needed. We asked Carlos for a special dessert one night, and they didn't have it (cheesecake). He said, come back tomorrow, and I'll get that special for you. He really went out of his way to make sure they had the dessert saved for us the following night.

I forgot our housekeeper's name, but she did an amazing job every day making sure we walked into a welcoming room that was meticulously cleaned and often left little decorations or changed up the way she made the bed. It was very nice and brought us joy to walk into our room every day.

I would just like to mention that from the moment that we arrived the staff was very welcoming and when you walk through the main front doors of the resort it smells really nice and the staff is constantly cleaning. Our check in process was very smooth. Our room was spacious and clean. The only complaint I have about the rooms is that the walls are literally paperthin or have no insulation in between because you can hear absolutely everything that is happening in the rooms next to you and in the hallway. The room service was excellent and the kids really enjoyed it. Like you would call and within 15 to 30 minutes everything was delivered to our room and the mini fridge constantly being restocked with water and beer and soft drinks. The front desk managers and staff are very nice and willing to help in whatever issue arises for example the first day that we arrived our 12 year old son cut his hand while swimming in the pool we had to take them to the nearest walk-in clinic to get three stitches to close up the wound and the hotel manager was there to help us and very attentive for our son , we also received a full reimbursement for our medical expenses and even the taxi fare. The tiles around the swimming pool seem to be loose and some of them were being replaced and worked on because that is where our son cut his hand. So be careful with that. The restaurants were ok , The only thing I would change is that due to Covid no one is allowed to serve themselves anymore which is a good thing for our own protection it’s just that I feel that there should be more than one employee serving to avoid the long lines. But they were really good at taking our drinks and anything else that we need it to our table. And there is always food around either for room service, the buffets , deli , pizza , and fast foods near the pool area . My favorite bar was the one in the lobby area. The night shows were also very nice we really enjoyed them and all the nightly entertainment the staff went way beyond to make us have a good time . Israel the water aerobics instructor was super cool. So overall our experience at the resort was a good experience our family and our kids enjoyed it . The resort is near everything and the local bus stops right in front which makes it an easy ride to the mercado and nightlife for much cheaper than a taxi.

This is my 3rd trip to Cancun during this "pandemic". GR Solaris really does a wonderful job keeping the place sanitary and allows for others to clean their hands frequently with all the hand sanitizing stations. Mask usage is pretty respected throughout the resort and no one really over crowds anyone else.
I upgraded to room 8110 with a nice balcony and jacuzzi. WORTH EVERY PENNY. I took full advantage of this amenity sometimes twice a day when the pool became crowded. My stay was short, only 4 days, but I did enjoy myself. It could use a makeover to make it a tad more modern.

I travel quite frequently so I will list pros and cons and not sugar coat.

Pros:
1.The resort is clean and the workers very friendly. I didn't feel pressured to do anything time share related.
2.Coffee maker, safe, iron, blowdryer and all toiletries were a nice touch.
3.Room service was quick, I ordered twice and both times my food was delivered within 20 minutes fresh.
4. Shower was always hot with great water pressure, room was just large enough for the two of us without feeling cramped. 5 towels provided in the bathroom was a nice touch, I never felt like I was going to run out.

Cons:
1. Walls are paper thin. I was awakened nightly by my neighbors stumbling in at 2.30 am making all kinds of noise. Just inconsiderate.
2. For the most part the food was good, but sometimes it was just off. Cold or lukewarm. But when it was fresh it was tasty.
3. People save chairs as early as 8 am. Kids splash around in the pools where people are trying to relax, nap, read books. ( this is to be expected I guess, but parents need to mind their kids-it's rude.)
4. Drinks are watered down. The alcohol just tastes a little different. Maybe because I wasn't a premium member?
Overall, if the price was right I'd return. But I do not think I'd make an annual trip to this resort when there are so many others within the same price range with no kids and more consistent food choices.

We loved everything about this resort and would stay again.

From the moment of check in to check out, everything was top notch.

We upgraded our room, but we were never really in it, lol.

Great staff, excellent food choices and the drinks never ran out.

I could write a huge list here, but will make it simple.

Bring lots of singles for tips, as they are well deserved, from the Custom Pasta ir Omelette Makers to the Bar Staff. They work tirelessly so we are waited on 24/7.

Get up early to put your towels out at the pool, we did this about 6-6:30 am.

The snack bar at the pool is the bomb, fresh Guac, homemade tortilla chips, pizza, freshly grilled hamburgers, something new every day... etc and they serve from 11:30-4 ish.

The Deli is also great, open from 4pm-7am with lots of great sandwich choices, ice cream and salads.

You can also order room service 24/7, included with your all inclusive package.

The swimup bar and entertainment staff is awesome. I would bring a plastic cell phone cover to hold money and your phone if you sit at the bar. We sat there for hours and loved it.

Bring your own lip and skin suncreens as it is about $20 per bottle otherwise.

Every night the lobby bar has Karaoke and then a small band for dancing, which was a fun way to unwind.

The only item we would critique is the Specialty Restaurants should be open to all guests after 8pm, without a Reservation, as we noticed lots of empty spaces/tables.

Enjoy!

SERVICE +++++ I can say I really enjoyed this resort, from check in/check out with Yazmin and Sergio to the waiters, Henry (in the lounge and pool area) to Roger and Mr. Orange in Marco Polo to Ovelia at the omelet station to the entertainment staff Israel, Monte and Gerry, to Margarita in the spa, and Travis in the deli. This is an awesome small (320) room resort right in Cancun, oceanfront with two sister properties just a 5 minute walk or ride away. You can hop on a bus right out front to get to the shops and bars for $1.00 each way. The resort is practicing all Covid restrictions, masking sanitizing, social distancing with temp checks as required. Covid tests are offered on property 3 days prior to departure. Our beautiful, well appointed room was sanitized and sealed until we arrived and cleaned daily, it includes a mini fridge with beverages, water, soda and beer and can have 2 double beds or King bed plus a Murphy bed with robe and slippers for each guest and in room safe. There are a variety of entertainment options (thanks to Israel, Jerry and Monte and all the happy faces) during the day games, water aerobics and even a pool foam party and nightly shows make sure to check them out if you are at the GR Solaris especially liked the 50's show provided by Solaris entertainment team and the Michael Jackson tribute show. There are so many food options to pick from snack bar, buffets and 2 ala cart restaurants (reservations required, suggest making the reservations for Marco Polo and Zai at arrival) and a deli. There is no time of day that food is not available and the beverages, check out the fresh squeezed fruit juices at breakfast, and adult drinks were not bad either, LOL. Men, be sure to bring a pair of long trousers and a colored shirt to eat at the ala cart places. This trip was so good already planning my next trip back to the GR Solaris, thank you everyone, hopefully see it again soon!

Came to GR Solaris for a short getaway with my boyfriend and two other couples. I want to start off with the positives. The staff were very friendly and we were immediately upgraded to an ocean view for free upon checking in.

The hotel is exactly what you expect from an all inclusive at its price. The beach, the pools, and the lobby bar are pretty nice. Not much to complain about there either. We had a nice time regardless of all of the things I’m about to say next!

The first issue we had was with the hotel room phone. We could not order the room service because we could not make any outgoing calls. Throughout our 5 days at the resort, they told us they would send someone up to change it on at least 4 separate occasions (the issue was never resolved). The WiFi was free but only worked in certain areas (like by the pool). It was very hard to keep in touch with the other couples throughout the trip.

The food itself is very inconsistent and mostly tasteless. Some of it was better than others (like the pizza place by the pool and the breakfast at the cafe Solaris). The rest of the restaurants are pretty bland or inedible, and we had to leave the resort to get a decent dinner. If you’re expecting to enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine, be prepared to leave the resort, as they mostly focused on burgers, fries, and even Asian cuisine instead (which I still don’t understand). You do you though, GR Solaris.

The drinks are watered down, and you need to tip to get them to add more alcohol. They also kept trying to get us to take excursions in the lobby when we were just trying to go from point a to point b in peace.
All of this being said, I understand their hustle! Just a heads up to those considering this resort.

Dear Traveler: Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience you may have experienced during your stay at our resort. Your feedback is really important to us; therefore, we can improve our services, especially the ones you mention. Also, could you please help us to specify in detail what you did not like about our food? Most of the comments we received speak well of the food we offer. About the service of drinks, we take care of the health of our guests; therefore, we have a standard measure of alcohol. However, if you would like to get a strong drink our bartender will gladly make one with a double shot for you. On the other hand, we are happy to read that you lived a magnificent holiday enjoying the beautiful facilities that we have and thank you for mentioning the kindness of our collaborators. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you in the future to enhance your experience and perception of the Hotel. Sincerely yours, Hoteles Solaris de México. *T

If you are looking for a budget friendly place this is good. The resort and rooms are out dated. Room had a smell and everything was just old. Food was decent but very little variety.
Don’t room your room key or the towel card they charge $20 each.

With limited options for travel, we decided on this modestly priced small all-inclusive property in Cancun. Upon arrival, my husband and I were ushered into a booth that sprayed an ozone mist on us for a few moments (about the size of a large shower - the two of us were able to fit inside at the same time comfortably). We then made our way to the front desk, and Ivan was very accommodating. While our room was not yet available for check in, we were able to get our wrist bands so we could go eat and begin enjoying the resort. He even upgraded us to an ocean view balcony room at no extra charge, which we greatly appreciated. The view was beautiful any time of day...but especially at sunrise and sunset.

Though the property was older, that didn't bother us as it was very clean. They worked tirelessly to keep everything sanitized. Our rooms was always clean, and the restaurants were constantly cleaned and social distancing and masks were enforced. We saw people cleaning all day every single day we were there.

The entertainment staff at the pool was excellent. We enjoyed most days just hanging out in the pool, followed by dinner and the nightly entertainment. While we did not have the opportunity to see the Michael Jackson show, everyone who did said it was very good.

There are only a couple of things that could use a little attention:

The food was not consistent. We had an excellent lunch and dinner on the first day, and everything we ate from the outdoor venues was very good (pizza, burgers, wings, potato wedges, empanadas). Breakfast was good (loved the omelets), but I never saw any oatmeal or breakfast bread options. Dinner service, like all the other service, was excellent.
When other people would open or closing their doors, the walls would rumble due to the change in air pressure. That began early in the morning, and it made an afternoon nap a little difficult.

We would definitely stay here again. It was nice and clean, and we received excellent service.

Hi Robyn it was a very Family Friendly resort and I did see some couples with infants at the hotel. You can get umbrellas on the beach, the pools area is massive and there are shaded and non shaded areas and you can also request an Umbrella pool side. We just got back and it is one of the cleanest, safest and best serviced hotel I've stayed in. All the staff we encountered were professional and helpful and it is "Peaceful " at night as in after 11 pm, making for a quiet sleep. For the Restaurants that are Ala Carte you should book am first thing in the morning. If fully booked the buffet Cafe Solaris is very decent, good variety and well serviced. It looks like the have an excellent kids club as well. Rooms are very modern and housekeeping wad excellent. Any more questions let me know.
