Our Checkin was flawless w a free fantatsic room upgrade. Quickly checked in and got our room. The whole complete staff we met, walked by, dealt with were all polite, smiling, and a huge compliment goes out to all of them. From the bar tenders, servers, door people, waiters, but mostly to all the staff constantly wiping down the whole resort (COVID safety). They all do an unbelievable job. I met one of the directors Ms. Perez and notified her of all the great staff she has and to please tell them how great they all are doing. Big suggestion for travelers is to always smile, tip them ($2 USA bills are great). Well please give this resort a try and the drive to/from the airport is a short drive. January was a bit cooler weather than expected so be aware.

Hotel's Favorite
Traveled to RIU Palace Las Americas in February for the 3rd time and it did not disappoint. Was a little concerned with Covid but this hotel really stepped up and took priority in the safety of its customers. We were greeted at front desk with mimosas and friendly faces. Our Covid tests were scheduled at that time to alleviate any concerns about it for the duration of our trip. Our tests went quick and easy and with no problems. We had arrived early in the day but with the hotel only at partial capacity our rooms were ready and waiting. Restaurants were all no waiting the entire time we were here and food was good. There were 2 in our group that are really picky and we never went hungry. Shout out to Edgar in the the buffet restaurant. He spotted us every time we walked in and knew our names and what we liked to drink. He was our waiter of choice our entire trip. The other restaurants were good also but our group preferred the variety of the buffet. Rooms were clean and comfortable and mini frig was restocked each day. Entertainment was on point...Much is to be said about a great entertainment staff. There were activities all day and in the evenings and they kept the enthusiasm going. Quite a comical group. Only recommendation would be more shows involving the guests and less of the dancing shows...especially on consecutive days. We missed shows such as the Michael Jackson, Mr RIU, and Rock of Ages shows from the past. All in all was a great trip and I would recommend for anyone who is looking to have a good time. This hotel is not for someone who likes to be all sophisticated and snobby But for people looking for a fun trip. Met a large variety of people from different places and made a lot of new friends.

We greatly enjoyed our trip and stay with RIU. I thought the hotel staff kept the place extremely clean, constantly washing down the floors and walls; cleaning the seating areas; always having hand sanitizer. It wasn’t that big of an issue to have to wear a mask indoors and once you were outside they were up to you whether or not to wear them. The beach was beautiful and there were coral areas you could swim through to see a whole assortment of fish. The Room: Had an ocean view room with a balcony; practically everyone has one. Beautiful views of the ocean. Rooms were constantly restocked with towels, linens, and beverages. We tipped $1-$2 every time we left the room. Entertainment: The staff was always doing something at the “party pool” to keep things fun. Music constantly blasting to keep it lively, and there was always a staff member in sight ready to take your drink order. For the shows, I thought they were ok but could be better. I’m usually never impressed with shows at resorts Outside the Resort: Felt safe walking the streets outside during the day. They have a grocery store and other shops to go to. Most people are the city are fluent enough in English where it is easy to understand them. Not inexpensive if an area either. Excursions: I recommend going on the ATV excursion that includes zip lining, a wild atv ride through the jungle, guided snorkeling in crystal clear water with gorgeous fish, and snorkeling in a fresh water cave. Very cool excursion with great tour guides throughout. I recommend getting the ATV insurance just to be safe; it’s only $15 for one driver and an extra $10 if you have a second. Restaurants in the Resort: Krystal (French): 10/10; I loved the mushroom ragout with a poached egg and mashed potatoes (appetizer) and also either the braised short rib or beef fillet(dinners). Both excellent. Sakura (Japanese): 5/10; nothing special Fiesta Mexicana (Mexican): 8/10; the Baja tacos with shrimp and sea bass was my favorite. Tried the grilled octopus but it wasn’t the greatest idea lol. Italian: 7.5/10; I enjoyed the ravioli with lobster chunks. They also have a huge buffet for the appetizers where you can get as much as you want. Steakhouse: 6/10; I wasn’t overly impressed with the food and thought the French restaurant had better cuts of meat. The corn is also not sweet so it can be tough to eat. Buffet: 8/10; we only ever went for breakfast and maybe lunch once or twice. The breakfast was great and they had practically anything you wanted. They also had a person making omelets throughout the breakfast period. Room Service: 6/10; quick and decent food if you’re in a pinch for something to eat but don’t want to leave the room.
