We enjoyed our first stay in April so much we returned again in June. We prefer to stay in the Reserve section of the hotel and take advantage of the adults only services. The resort is doing an awesome job with Covid 19 safe stay protocols. The rooms, the views, the restaurants are all wonderful. We want to recognize several of the staff who are extraordinary in their service: Ale (Alexandra) our concierge who went extra steps to ensure our room was ready before we got there and met with us every day to see what our needs might be. Diego, the Captain of LaPalapa Restaurant and the lounge in the Reserve; and just a few of his wait staff: Moise and Reuben,Luis aand Cesar and chef Luis. Max and Lucas who handle the Bali beds and beach service for the Reserve. Hugo, the Captain for Capellito restaurant Guillermo, the Captain for Fuego restaurant Thanks again for a wonderful stay.

Hotel's Favorite
My husband, 12 year old daughter and I just returned from a week at the Paradisus. The weather was not great. The resort was fabulous. From the moment we checked in we were made to feel welcome. I asked for a quiet room and we were given one in pyramid 4. It was comfortable and clean and very peaceful. Enrique, our concierge was incredibly helpful and responsive. He helped us schedule our covid tests and a few other things. The COVID testing at the end of our stay was quick and easy. The entire process took less than 15 minutes. We ate most of our meals at Malva because reservations at the other restaurants were hard to come by. My only complaint about the week. Malva was fine for us. The variety of food was excellent and our 12 year old always found something delicious to eat. The staff were fabulous. It would have been nice try some of the other restaurant though. We were able do get a reservation at Enso for our 21st wedding anniversary. Abel our waiter was incredible and went out of his way to make us feel special. On our last day the sun finally came out and we spent the day by the pool. It is large enough that it never felt crowded. The waiters were so helpful and the bartenders always made my daughter special “cocktails”. I wish I wrote down the name of every employee we encountered because they were all top notch and went out of their way for us. The hotel and grounds are gorgeous but the people working there are what makes this hotel special. They are the true beauty of the Paradisus. Thank you for taking such good care of us. We would have loved or see the sun more but thanks to the staff at the Paradisus we had an amazing vacation anyway. We look forward to seeing you again in the future.

This was my first visit to Paradisus Cancun. I own an independent travel agency and I wouldn’t hesitate suggesting this resort to my clients who seek an all-inclusive resort. Everything was clean and comfortable. And special kudos to our personal concierge, Soni… she did a great job assisting us with our daily needs. The only thing missing is a comfortable sit-down bar… but I suspect that might the bit of construction they currently have going on in their main hall.

When the CDC announced that the COVID cases in Mexico were rising I reached out (via email) to the Paradise Cancun hotel to ask about the measures they were taking and refund policy if I decided not to go. I have a step-daughter who is not vaccinated and who was going on this trip with us. Granted I cannot force vaccination on others but at the same time I cannot knowingly expose others either or ourselves for that matter. One of our rooms had already been charged (the 3 person or the 2 Queen room) the other was not. Would you believe the person who I was communicating with via email canceled my reservation for the unpaid room? She also told me that I would get only 50% refund for the other room? I NEVER asked her to cancel. After 49 emails, stress, anxiety, crying and a call to Spain (main number, I could not reach the hotel directly), my itinerary was rebooked (they also wanted to rebook at a higher price blaming me for their error) Additionally, I had told them how important this family vacation was since my youngest was celebrating her 21st birthday and my oldest had just graduated college but had a virtual graduation so we took this trip to celebrate both. I asked if something could be done in their room to acknowledge that. She said yes that it would be taken care of. FYI: RIU Palace did do a simple yet beautiful something in our room a few years back for our anniversary) Well then, my stepdaughter decided not to go out of concern for her health. Rather than go through a miscommunication or the same nightmare again we decided to wait until arrival to let them know. And so this is where my check-in nightmare began. It took us the entire day to resolve this. I wanted to cry!! They didnt want to issue a refund for the 3rd person claiming that we had to notify them within 48 hrs and that it was my fault. So imagine how that went trying to explain to them why we had not notified them. ( We didnt know about this policy either). To say something positive, I did notice that this is a beautiful property indeed. Loved how the lobby smelled and its modern, yet tropical theme. Hot lobby though. However, it is not a place I would return to. The horrible experience before we arrived and what happened next during check-in was discouraging. Communication and information is lacking. The front desk agents are cold, not friendly and not empathetic. That birthday and graduation thing… Fabiola at the front desk coldly and simply stated that they don’t do that there, yet I saw it being done for members outside and at restaurants (she didn't provide us with alternatives or other suggestions either). They simply do not go out of their way for you. Alexis did try and at the end refunded some money but the hotel still charged a penalty. If you are a first timer, expect to be lost and confused. The concierge that is lucky to grab your attention will serve as a temporary guide (first 1/2 hr) but when you do not buy into their membership you are treated differently and forgotten about. Which reminds me, if you are wearing a purple key(non member) you are just another person in the hotel vs a pink bracelet(member) in which you are treated as a guest with all the perks. As a non member, prepare to be confused and figure things out on your own. Remember how I said that originally, we booked a king bed room and a 2 queen bed room? BEWARE! It is based on availability so if your 3 in a room includes little ones or unrelated grown ups (adolescents) dont expect a room close to you or even on the same floor. I was given a king bed room in replacement of the 2 queen. The front desk did not ask which we preferred (a king on the same floor or 2 queen on another floor to replace my original booking. They offered a rollaway bed (you pay so much and they offer a rollaway bed 😡!!!) if i decided to keep the king on the same floor. Thankfully my girls are older and so we had to take their room on another floor. Note: Their “queen” size beds are more like a full size bed. The room is small and 3 people cannot comfortably fit in a room. In our room, the door handle was broken, the AC on all rooms are programmed at 65 so with all the heat outside, inside was not better. I literally couldn’t sleep. Maintenance was being done during the day (painting and repairs) Not done well to say the least, as I noticed splattered paint on the floor. Construction was being done in the center of hotel as well. Curtain in the lobby was falling off (I have pictures). I could never get a reservation for dinner in the very few non-member restaurants available so we had to eat at the buffet which offered very little selections especially in the meat section. If you order a drink, you may want to either have your own bottle to add the liquor or just drink straight up water & sugar. The body wash bottle in the bathroom had a broken nozzle and rusty so it shows how there is no upkeep. There was a tv monitor on Level O which we discovered the night before we left. It gave a schedule of the shows at the hotel. Not impressive. I saw 1 and it was okay not all that ( drone air show) it was short. The beach was dirty (seaweed) but that was not their fault. The swimming pool was fine but did not smell like chlorine which made me question its sanitary conditions. I promise I am being honest and not purposely bashing this resort. I understand that members should get what they pay for and have perks, but non members also pay a lot of money. We save for a year at times for a family vacation. Hence we should also feel as a guest. If not perks, at least attention and respect. This was my personal experience. I have been to other resorts and although they may not have been great or had a few flaws, nothing compares to my experience in this hotel. I can ONLY commend the housekeepers, that 1 waiter at the pool and the male servers at the buffet for their friendliness and daily welcome. THEY made my stay there more tolerable. I am just thankful, as is my family, that we went on tours and didn’t have to be there all 5 days. Money wasted!

I would like to start and say that I am not a picky traveler. Also, we have been to Cancun 9 times so far. My wife, niece, and myself stayed at this resort from 7/6 - 7/12. I am not the type to write a review unless I am very impressed or very disappointed. Unfortunately, this review is provided out of my disappointment for this resort. I did a lot of research and reading reviews on this site. I can not understand how this resort has so many positive reviews! When arriving to the resort, we were greeted by hot humid air in the atrium. None of the common areas are air conditioned! This was terrible as there was no relief from the heat! The check in lobby was filled with a strong perfume smell, most likely to cover up other bad smells. We checked in and were given supposedly an ocean view king room as we ordered. When we arrived at our room, we found an outdated room that did not match their pictures and also was facing the other building not the ocean! I immediately went back to the front desk to ask for another room, as that is not what we reserved or paid for. Of course they had nothing else, but they did have a room in the Reserve section of the resort for an extra $650. Because I did my homework, I knew everything that came with the Reserve package and decided to go ahead and make the change. After making the change, I found the Reserve room to be nice and clean. The room in the Reserve was facing the ocean, but the A/C could not keep the room cold. We decided to let that go as we didn't want to waste time over the A/C. I went to the front desk to find out who our butler was, and was informed that because we upgraded at the resort, that we would not get that service and most of the additional features that the Reserve is supposed to offer. So basically we paid $650 to get the room that we thought we already paid for. Front desk staff do not seem to care about making things right. Realistically they should have just moved us to a better room that we paid for already, but they want to up-sell you on everything. Also, Friday night at 11:30pm the water was shut off to our building for several hours. We just got home from the Coco Bongo sweaty and nasty to find we couldn't shower or use the toilet until the next morning! House keeping did a good job, but failed to stock the fridge with beer, soda, and water daily. I think they stocked it once despite me tipping house keeping $10-$20 daily. As I said before, we didn't get butler, or turn down service, or basically anything you are supposed to get for the Reserve package. This was probably the most upsetting thing at this resort, as we paid extra and still got nothing. The proper thing for them to do was just fix my room situation and all would have been good! The main pool was old and the water was almost 2 feet under the skimmers. 1/2 of the sitting area around the pool are cabanas that cost $120 a day to use. Most of the beach was this way as well. They had a nice beach club that was extra of course so we didn't go. They had a beach bar, but it as well was extra. There was no music the whole week at the main pool, which was a first for me. Everyone was complaining about that. They did however have music playing at the beach club, so I figure it is a way for them to lure people to the extra pay areas. Our first day there was a fist fight at the main pool between two groups of people. Excessively drunk people throwing up next to the pool was common. They had to wheel chair several people back to their rooms. We only had pool entertainment for one day which was a floating obstacle course. That was fun and they did have music for that. The pool servers were great by the way, and the staff all seemed to work hard. If you can get a pool chair, you will get the best service by the pool. Restaurants were all terrible. There wasn't one that we liked. This resort hands down had the worst food of any all inclusive resort I have stayed at to date. The only restaurant that looked nice was of course the one you had to pay extra for! The breakfast buffet was so bad that we stopped eating there after the 2nd day. Honestly the best food was the grill by the pool or the food cart by the pool. Drinks were nothing special and I stayed with beer majority of the time. Pool bar service was very slow as well. All in all, I will personally never return to this resort or any Melia resort as I do not like their sales practices, customer service, and constant up-selling for items that should be included with your initial cost. By the way, this was also the most expensive resort I have ever stayed at. Almost $6,000 for 3 people 6 nights is not cheap in my opinion. This resort was probably only worth $3000. Save your money and go to a resort that cares and doesn't screw everyone that goes to it.
