This was my 5th time in Cancun, but first time at the 2 year old All-Inclusive RIU Palace Kukulkan and is was beyond excpetional. THE ROOMS: Very large around 640 Square feet, very luxurious decor and modern technology and the insulation is better than so many other hotels. I slept like a baby, no sounds below, above me, or from the adjoining rooms. A fully stocked Bar with Alcohol, Beer and Soda is included in the price, as is "Room Service" to you room. I had an Ocean View, Junior Delux room and the view was stunning. THE LOCATION: A 3 Minute walk to La Isla, a very nice high end shopping mall and located on a very clean, beautiful strip of Cancun's beach, with an arrary of stunning pools, never had to worry about finding a chair or space. THE FOOD: 6****** all the way. The ala carte offerings are sensational, 5 of them, with no Reservations required. A Steakhouse, an Italian, French, American and Japanese, was all excellent, with white glove service from the staff and chef. You can either order off a hard copy menu or use the QR Code on your phone. The Deserts are to die for, along with the entrees. The Buffet style Restaurant had offerings that were just as good as ala carte and it was never the same old foods, there was alwasy something new. THE GYM AND SPA: Very nice, high end, clean and modern. THE BEVERAGES: All top shelf such as Heiniken, Coors Light, Dos Equis and all high end Liquor and Wines from around the Globe. THE HOUSEKEEPING: On Time, punctual and every night I received "Turn Down" service which was nice. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE: Every staff memeber was polite and professiona and had a smile on their face. I had 2 minor issues, and they were in my room within 10 minutes and in each instance, it was me "not understanding" certain technology in the rooms. Man, the TV on the wall is like having an I PAD. LOL !!! THE VALUE: Yes you pay more $$$ for the RIU Kukulkan, but you get so much more and it is worth every penny, dollar or peso ! TIPS AND GRATUITIES: Yes Tips are included in your "All-Inclusive" Price, however I did tip all the staff. They work so hard and always showed great appreciation when tipped. THE VERDICT: You cannot go wrong here. If you are looking to be impressed and enjoy one of the most first class vacations in Cancun, you need look no further. THE MANAGMENT: Thank you for the Courtesy call asking if all was good with my vacation and please offer my sincere graditude to the Front Desk Staff, your Bell Hops, and the managers of Rossini, Krystal, the Steakhouse and Don Julio. I have already referred other people and I will return. The RIU Kukulkan sets the standard IMO, for quality and service in Cancun.

My wife and I stayed 8 nights here in early February. We were first given a room on the first floor, overlooking the roof of the buffet. I preferred a more extensive view, so I asked for a room above the fourth floor. The following morning we were given a room on the 8th floor room with a view of the beach and a few steps from the elevator. Both rooms were similar otherwise. I liked the large shower, the bed, the blackout curtains, and the stocked fridge. The hotel employs a lot of staff, and they appear to have very specialized jobs, some just to keep the place clean at all hours. The employees were all cordial and helpful if asked a question. In the buffet the attendants seemed ready to pick up your plate the moment you put your fork down. The guidebook in the room said tipping was not needed in the buffet, but we saw others do so and we did a couple of times as well for the waiters' attentive services. There were lots of party games at the pool and the bar in the lobby was often packed at night. The dress was casual during the day and more formal at night. We ate at the Italian and Asian restaurants and twice at the steakhouse. They served large portions of food at the Italian restaurant and, while it was tasty, I would have ordered a half plate if available. The Asian food was too spicy for me. We had different experiences the two visits to the steakhouse. On the first visit, the lobster and filet mignon were very good, and we looked forward to eating there again. However, the quality of the same items on the second visit was notably poorer. We had planned to go to Mercado 28 to buy souvenirs, but we read many negative reports online, and changing busses was required to get there. So we researched further and discovered that an enclosed mall (the kukulcan plaza) was just a short distance away, the other side of the hospital. There we found a large grocery store on the second floor and several shops that sold souvenirs at reasonable prices without the pestering of the outdoor vendors. Plus, there was an ice cream shop on the first floor. We walked about 10 minutes the other direction to the aquarium, which is located in the Isla Cancun Shopping Center. There are lots of shops and the atmosphere is pleasant there.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveler reviews.
I initially booked at RIU Cancun, but decided after reading reviews to move to RIU Kukulkan. The parties that they have bus people to either Caribe or Cancun locations. We did not want to be a part of that and moved to the adults only location.
The room was extremely clean and the staff kept the fridge stocked. One thing I was uneasy about was in the restaurants they did not give bottled water and poured the water from a pitcher. So, either take the bottled water from the room with you or they have other bottled pop available. I was concerned about the reviews of the food. I was extremely impressed with the buffet. Breakfast and lunch are the same every day. Dinner is different every night. We ate at the steak restaurant which was great, but did not try the other restaurants as we were happy with the variety at the buffet.
The pool bar was always packed and had no interest in venturing into that pool. We were going to upgrade to the Elite but decided not to. Yes, there was a private pool, private restaurant and you receive snacks in the room but did not feel it was worth the additional cost when the rooms were exactly the same.
The beach was beautiful, but the sand could use a fine tooth comb. It wasn't the softest to walk in.
I've been to Cancun 5 times in the last year. This was the first time moving from the original hotel that I stay at to the RIU. Overall, it surpassed my expectations!

We attended the Riu Palace Kukulkan in Mexico March 25 - March 29 for a quick getaway. The hotel and the grounds were beautiful and maintained well. The beach chairs on the beach were a little cheap and they needed better/bigger beach umbrellas at the beach. We loved the beds/beach chairs in the “Club” area. The Rui is new to the “Club” concept and it leaves a lot to be desired. We have spent a lot of time in “Club” areas at different resorts. But this one did not have any of the “Club” amenities that you are paying extra for. There wasn’t a separate specialty area upon check-in and out that you could get drinks/snacks for the “Club” members. There wasn’t a bar at the pool “Club” area, just a man with a cart. There wasn’t a speciality, enclosed, air conditioned, food/drinks area at the “Club” pool, and there wasn’t any food/snacks given out at the “Club” pool area as there is in other Resorts. In our opinion the “Club” was not worth the extra cost. In addition I do not like resorts/hotels that only let guest have 1 beach towel each (in my opinion that is ridiculous)! We really enjoyed the service we received from Hugo and Diana in the Don Julio restaurant. The Buffet had great choices both for breakfast and lunch, I also really enjoyed the mussels that they had on the buffet. We also liked the fact that you could place a door holder on your hotel room door and house keeping would clean your room later in the day, for example while you are at breakfast. More resorts should incorporate that amenity. I hate when my room is not cleaned daily because we left late for breakfast. Would we go back to this Rui maybe, but we would not do the “Club” again unless they upgrade their amenities to meet the increase in price.

Everything was fine, until check out where we found out that they violated our privacy by taking photos of our room in our absence. They charged us for a soap dish in the shower, which we did not break, without believing that it was not us despite the many proofs we gave them.
Furthermore, the frontdesk staff behaved mockingly and did not offer any further explanations for the accusations made against us, they only said "we are following the protocol."
Be very careful because they can take photos of your room in your absence, which worries me and I don't know what else they could have done in it.
I asked to speak to the hotel manager and they did not want to notify him, only the public relations manager attended to me, who did not give me a solution or leave me alone.
The staff by whom we felt mocked and did not help us were:
Sergio Valdez Violet Garcia Patricia Gonzalez
The food tastes good but is very repetitive. The waiter service is good. The drinks are good.
And by the way, we booked at the RIU Palace Las Américas and they sent us to Kukulkan in a very old taxi where they packed 9 of us with almost no room. We let everything go because we were arriving without knowing that our privacy would be put at risk.
I suggest you take good care of your rooms because they do not offer security or privacy.

First class hotel, excellent customer service, first class restaurants, especially Don Julio, they offer amazing food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. All the staff were very professional, friendly. Our room was on the 5th floor, ocean view, very clean, very modern, wi-fi is great, 70 Mbps speed, this was across the whole property.
Pools are great, beach has white sand, and the water is crystal clear blue, the waves were very strong, and seaweed would come and go. Chairs and umbrellas were readily available. Shout out to Alma from the entertaining team. All the activities were well organized.
There is a small gym and also a spa. Regarding transportation, I would suggest Caribbean Transfers, they charge $60 round trip, very reliable and safe, however, I would recommend you only buy one way to the hotel, the return just call Uber, the price is $16 to the airport.
Uber at the airport is not available. If you want to go shopping for Silver and souvenirs, just take the public red bus, outside the hotel, pay $1 each way, and go to Mercado 28.
It was our wedding anniversary, and they gave us a bottle of Champaine, red roses on the bed, it was a real nice detail. Weather was great, sunny. This hotel exceeded our expectations, everything is free, food, drinks, snacks, entertainment, and will definitely come back.

Staying at RIU Kukulkan was the best experience ever as a first time traveler to Mexico. My husband and I went for our first wedding anniversary taking a much needed break from our busy life. The employees are quick, helpful and friendly. Ophelia is a wonderful presenter and full of energy. same with the fitness lead, unfortunately I cannot remember his name. The whole resort is extremely clean, normally going to a hotel I wouldn’t take a bath but they were so clean I got to indulge the whole week. I mean not a spec of trash anywhere. We had photos done and we could decide if we wanted to buy, we did and they were absolutely worth every penny. The beds are of course users choice of pressure but my husband and I thought they were perfect. The views from the room are incredible. There is a selection of restaurants to enjoy, I will say that some food could be better but overall an 8/10, Sunakku was our favorite, if you go get the crispy pork belly bao. There was an incident with a gentleman who was drunk trying to get into our room at 5AM, I called the staff for help and they came quickly and removed him, I even saw him around and asked him if he remembered which he was extremely sorry. It’s bound to happen when you’re at an all inclusive resort. You have access to the beach from the pool area and if you prefer to stay in the resort you have two infinity pools you can get wonderful views of the ocean from, but I do recommend going down. The sand is soft and the water is much warmer than our California oceans! They have entertainment at the resort and live music every night, and they have Riu parties at the riu caribe with free shuttle there and back, we went to the white party and had the time of our lives! The DJ was amazing! We would absolutely come back!
Thank you for all your hard work to make the best stay possible!

We had such an amazing experience at this hotel. We were greeted by Ricardo as soon as we arrived and were greeted with champagne, mimosas, tequila shots and Paloma's. Each employee asked if we preferred English or Spanish and did their best to accommodate. Our check-in took less than 5 minutes and we were able to upgrade to the ocean view room for $25. We went up to our room and our bags were brought up right behind us. The attendant showed us how to use the room controls, the safe, and wi-fi access and to let him know if we needed anything. The food was amazing at the buffet, each day it changed and offered different types of cuisines. Probably the best buffet food we have had in Cancun. The pool bars were nice and the servers were very attentive and friendly. Shoutout to Addy at the pool for the best service for our big group of 15+. She made sure we never had an empty cup. The inside lobby bar is beautiful and had the best bartenders, huge shoutout to Juan! Rooms were very clean and left spotless each time. Shoutout to our cleaning services, Angelica on the 4th floor. You kept our room so nice our whole stay. Our check-out was fast and quick and we got to hit the buffet 1 more time before our flight. YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE RIU POOL PARTIES!! Highly recommend this hotel.

First, the resort is nice and well maintained. The pools are small, but they do have 4 of them, but if you want to go to the swimout bar pool, make sure you are up early as it is always packed.
We went to this resort based on the reviews and because it was a fairly new resort on the strip. I had 16 people come to celebrate my mom's birthday and each person had a problem with either their room, the horrible front desk staff and management, injury at the resort, price gouging for distilled water or basic customer service issues in general.
At checkin, 3 of the ocean front rooms that we paid for were not available until the next day or the following day. Instead of accommodating everyone with an upgraded room, they made us checkout of the room they gave us, which was a huge inconvenience and put us in another room. They advised that we would get a spa certificate for our inconvenience but we had to continuously go to the front desk twice a day to remind them and it took them 4 days to even get it to us. On a positive note, the massage and massage staff was great.
Also, the resort does not have distilled water. The front desk charged us $15 to get us some distilled water. They said the water costed them $5, and there was a $10 delivery fee.
In addition, don't pay for ocean front room as it is not worth it, we paid for an ocean front, but they gave us a partial review and from our balcony we were looking at buildings instead of the ocean. Also the room was far from the elevator, so not very convenient.
Lastly, but I could go on...my sister in law fell in the lobby because the floor was wet and there were no caution signs or cones indicating the floor was wet. No one from the resort assisted her and told her that "no else felled" so it must be her shoes. My sister in law has a bruise on her hip and arm due to the fall.
Although the resort is nice, I would not recommend this resort to anyone and will never visit again.

Stayed here for my bachelorette party with 8 girls. It is an adult only hotel that had entertainment at night, enough restaurants throughout the hotel with good food, a swim up bar and a late night bar in the lobby. There was some issues with finding restaurants that can seat all 8 of us at once, so we did have to split up at times. All of the rooms are ocean facing, the hallway had views of the lagoon which is not a bad sunset view spot. The basic rooms have a great layout. I like that the rooms had a seperate space for the beds and the couch area with a small table for a place to hangout that isn't sitting on the beds. The separation of the bath with a curtain was a nice touch too as well as the seperation of the shower, toilet and sinks so that three of us had no issues with coordinating to getting ready for the night. Closet space is sufficient and we did not have issues with our suitcases taking up too much space.

Hi not that I needed it, but when I was on their Wifi, it was just as good as back home. Whether on What's APP, or streaming or Youtube, or downloading, no issues and the speed was fine. Elite, well I mean you get a Red Carpeted check in and check out and their is "ONE:" restaurant only for you and the room service menu is a bit better and their is an "Elite" pool. IMO, not worth, it the other 5 Restaurant were exeptional as were the other 3 pools.
There are more places to choose from in the Cancun area.
