I was attending a conference nearby and decided to book a reservation at the Marriott Cancun Resort so that my wife and I wouldn't have to be apart on her birthday. We brought our daughter along as well. We were told to expect some renovations and apologies for any inconveniences. Well, the hotel was wonderful, and we hardly even noticed the renovations. It was exactly what we all needed to accommodate all our needs including my daughters passion for music. We even made a friend (Mariana) who ensure the music was just right at the Sacbe beach restaurant which became a favorite hang out. The service at the pool and pool bar was excellent, and we were surprised how many activities the hotel had on-site or could help coordinate. During the day my family hardly noticed my absence which made me feel less guilty for having to work, but then when work was over, we had a wonderful place to enjoy together. In fact, we rarely left the property because we could access several restaurants on the property, walk the beaches to other bars or hang outs, and really loved seeing the turtles and the conservation efforts made by the Resort itself. There were so many staff that made the trip special in addition to Mariana (the DJ). Perla left us special notes and creative surprises each day when tidying up our room. The concierge, front desk, servers and bar tenders seemed genuinely interested in making sure we were comfortable and satisfied with our experience at the resort. I would certainly recommend it, and I can't wait to see it again once the renovations are completed. The resort was one of the hotels in the area helping to conserve the habitat of the turtles that next on the beach. Over the years Cancun resorts have been built from end to end of the beaches, so it was important for us to see that efforts are made to conserve these important nesting grounds. The resort even had a monitor during the evening hours to ensure that on the resort grounds, guests could observe, but wouldn't disturb the turtles attempting to nest and lay eggs. He was very knowledgeable and dedicated to the conservation. That was a nice "plus" for us. We also had an excellent room with a view of the ocean and easy access to the pool and beach, which was amazing for the room rate, but also exceptional regardless. I'd have given it the full 5star (Excellent) rating, but want to be fair to anyone looking for a recommendation given the renovations. We wouldn't think twice about going back for the fun, sun and friends we made.

Great Hotel, excellent restaurants. Ask for and/or upgrade to an Ocean view. Third floor rooms have a large balcony. Look for Bonvoy Marriott for extras. Pablo at the pool, and Susanna and Enrique at the breakfast buffet were great to me.

We had a good experience. Breakfast well served. The service around the pool and at the beach is great. The is gymnastic/aerobic by the pool in the morning. The best thing about this hotel was the opportunity to see help the staff to return the baby sea turtles to the sea twice a week. Also, they have good restaurants close to the hotel.

We stayed at this resort for almost a week in January and had a very pleasant time. The pool was well kept and big enough for the size of the resort that it is. The hotel is right on the beach and the beach is well kept. Both the pool and beach have food service available, so it’s convenient when you have young kids. The pool and beach were not crowded at all during our stay. The customer service was pleasant and very helpful. We had a corner room with a wrap around balcony facing the beach. The sunsets and sunrises were awesome to see from the room. It is a bit of a distance to shops and the main strip but a cab ride takes care of that. Overall great and would recommend the hotel to others.

I had an ocean view room that also faced the courtyard in the middle. Nicely appointed room, great view, very comfortable. The property is rather palatial, which I eventually got used to. This means quite a bit of walking though, in case that is a problem. What struck me was the quality of the staff, and I found out why by talking to several people. The man who cleaned the room was the same person every day, and had worked for the resort for 25 years. Job stability is, in my workforce consultant's opinion, the key to good service. As well, the tip can be combined at the end because staff doesn't change daily. My first and second nights I chose to eat at the bar at SaSi Restaurant and the third night I invited three friends from another hotel to join me for a drink and appetizer there. Lovely fresh air environment with tiki-type roof and views of the front garden. I can't say enough good things about the quality of food and outstanding service at this Thai restaurant with a Mexican chef (who also chefs the Japanese restaurant next door--this man is a genius and came out every night to greet). Menu and execution are top notch. I want to give special kudos to Victor at the bar who made the ultimate margarita, something I am fussy about and rarely get the way I want it. Absolutely perfect top of the line drink without too much lime, allowing the quality of the liquor to show through. Victor and his mate Fernando entertained me, and since attendance was inexplicably light, I became friends with the entire staff at the restaurant. But here is another plus: it appears Marriott gives people their shifts regardless of how much clientele there is. I approve of this policy! I don't want my hotel experience to be predicated on the hardship of the employees. I had a $50 per day resort credit which I used for a deep tissue massage, again, first-rate. I encourage visitors to use the spa. I received an herbal tea on arriving, used the sauna after the massage, and was served an unbelievably refreshing juice drink and fruit plate afterwards. Pool was nice, hot tub has ocean view, great fresh limeade. I appreciated that the beach area was calm and not crowded or abutting on another hotel's property. Although not cheap, I thought the hotel was a great value for the money.
