We visited this resort from the 29th july - 8th August. Overall this resort was okay, I wouldn’t recommend it though. The check in/out process was pretty straight forward. The staff was lovely that’s the only positive thing to say about it. The rooms were okay but could do with a bit of restyling. The A/C was cool but I heard from multiple guest they had problems. The food was repetitive. And the portions was small - my boyfriend had 5 mains one day! Their was hardly any night time entertainment, even if their was their was karaoke 4 nights out the 9 we stayed their. Overall the staff was lovely, just needs updating!
First off let me start by Saying I was not scared off by the negative reviews I read. I went determined to make up my own mind. I was so thankful I did. This place was amazing, It is a older resort and the rooms do show that, bug other than that, the place was fabulous. We woke up each day to a post card worthy beach front view. The restaurant food was great, really anything you wanted they had it covered. Especially liked pier12. The staff was probably the friendliest and most helpful of any place I have visited. Truthfully I’m already planning my return trip for next year.
The resort is older but still beautiful and kept up as much as possible by the staff. The staff truly makes the resort, they are amazing!! Mucho gracias Oscar, Sam, Perfect, SEBASTION & MARY for helping us have a great trip! For the price and location we will be back.
Would definitely recommend this place to any one wanting to visit Cancun. Ignore all the complaints about the food and service because during our stay we had nothing but exceptional service and delicious food. The rooms were always kept cool and very clean everyday. The drinks were good and the facilities themselves were kept very clean. In the paradise restaurant the wait staff there was amazing. Especially the waiter we had almost everyday Oscar. Such a nice guy and great service. Always making sure you had everything you needed and never let you go a day without a warm greeting and smile. Hopefully everyone else who stays here gets the same gear experience as my friends and family had.
Hotel: cute and cozy hotel but requires some maintenance and repairs in rooms and public areas. If you are not looking for modern and stylish place, this is a good choice. Food & restaurant: many restaurant choices, two of them are facing the ocean and is very romantic. Good food choices. Morning breakfast area might need more choices and replacement of tables/chairs for upgrade. Entertainment: we were at the hotel when a live band was playing at the pool and it was the best experience. They played very well and famous songs. Beach: not the best! Swimming is forbidden in many places, you need to be very very careful. Waves are high even when there is no wind. Entrance to water is very rough, you make one step and it becomes too deep. They say there are rocks. I got jellyfish burn. So I won't recommend this place if you want to be in ocean a lot. Hotel beach doesn't have a lot of chairs and umbrellas, might not be enough for everyone. Area around hotel: you can take taxi to shopping area about 10 min away from hotel, but walking around the hotel is not very interesting, nothing around besides other hotels.…
The only reason why I am not rating this a five out of five is because the hotel could use a little updating. However our trip was phenomenal. All of the staff was extremely welcoming and nice and professional. Oscar specifically was amazing would greet us every morning at breakfast remembering what drinks we liked and putting a smile on our face can’t say enough about him. Hands down the best waiter we have ever had!
The Golden Parnassus was a great budget all inclusive resort. The reviews that compare rooms to a Motel 6 level are fair. The reviews that also reference the steep ramps are also very fair, especially the ramp located outside between the Pier 12 restaurant and the pool. The beds and rooms are not luxurious. That said, everything about our stay was very enjoyable! The staff were AMAZING! They were responsive, friendly, and professional. Everything was very clean. The food was good. When we first arrived we were greeted with mango-piñacoladas. They were good and we had a million of them during our stay. I did not particularly enjoy the Pier 12 restaurant, but I did enjoy the others we went to, and some guests said Pier 12 was their favorite. We tried the buffet, The Breeze, The Creperie, The Old Barn, and each bar. We also ordered room service several nights when our excursions had us out late. The food was good. I enjoyed the buffet. We ate there mostly for breakfast. At breakfast there was bacon, chilequiles, fruit, an omelet station that could make you any style eggs you requested, a fajitas station, a waffle/pancake/French toast station, a Mexican food station, soups, pastries, and more. I done know how people could get bored of it. I ate something different each day! The portions were good, but it’s also all you can eat, so if you’d like more food, just order more! The Old Barn had good food also. The sushi restaurant we did not try. We also did not try Shangri-La. There were events in the pool each afternoon. There is a schedule of these events located near the pool, which is convenient. The host for the events was hilarious and had great energy. There was tequila volleyball, a foam party, water aerobics, etc. It was great and there was a lot of participation by guests. One night there was a fiesta. The staff had decorated with papel picado and other cultural decor. There was a delicious buffet and cultural song and dance. The staff also took the safety of hotel guests very seriously, and I appreciated that. The hotel also has a corral (a marked off area) that protects sea turtle eggs! In other reviews I read that the pool was too small. I disagree. It was appropriate for the size of the hotel. It was never packed and swimming was always possible. The water was about 4 ft deep. I also saw that there was concern about seaweed. There was a lot of seaweed in the region. Staff clean the beach each day. One of the days there was minimal seaweed and the beach was clear, they offered parasailing, and lots of people swam in the ocean - so I think that has more to do with natural rhythms of nature than the work of the hotel. The hotel did need some repairs. After a torrential down pore one day, there was a small leak in our room, for example. We were offered another room, but it wasn’t really a bother for us. Our air conditioning worked well, but we did hear from guests on the 6th floor that the air conditioning did not work well at all. This was from multiple people in different rooms on the 6th floor, so if that matters to you, I’d avoid the 6th floor. I would say that if I was looking for a high end romantic getaway with incredible luxury, this would not be my choice for a stay. For a getaway with friends, adventuring and laughing, absolutely! I would stay here again, and honestly, am a little sad I can’t bring my family. It’s a great deal, and I’d come annually with my family.…
I feel that this Resort's description is not a reality of what it is like. The buffet is plain and repetitive. My husband and 2 adult kids were tried of the same thing by the end of the week. The rooms are more like motel 7 rooms. The bathroom and room are certainly not luxurious like it is depicted in their adds. There is no mini fridge in your room. I use a cane because of a knee surgery and one night the only 2 elevators were out of order. After speaking to the person in the lobby, my only option was to use the stairs to the 4th fl.🤬 There was no nightly entertainment, only 2 days that were nice. There is only one pool that is 3 1/2 feet deep. My kids are 5 ft 9 and 6 ft 4 in. We we’re on our knees most of the time!! The restaurant’s are very good although the servings are very small. There is no WIFI and therefore you have to pay for it!! Over all I was so disappointed with this hotel as I wouldn’t call it a Luxurious Resort and Spa! I feel I paid a lot of money for our va y for our accommodations!! I do not recommend this hotel. I would rate this hotel a 2 Star! The only thing Great about the stay was the View!!…
Just got back from Golden Parnussus. Here is the good - the staff. Really great service in restaurants, drinks around the pool. Friendly front desk who tried to help us. Nice pool, nice atmosphere. The rooms were nice. Bathrooms seem to be updated. Had hot water and two bottles of water in our room each day. AC in our room was ok. Not super cool but ok. The bad - food was eh. Not great and the same in the buffet each day. For breakfast and lunch only. We had no idea each day what entertainment would be, any poolside activities, what restaurants were open. No app, no posts, no flyers. Towel service closed pretty early each day. No way to get food between 3-6. The beach was full of seaweed. No cleaning of the beach. Walkway down to beach was uneven and hard to maneuver. The ugly - no/little AC in restaurants. It was HOT (Mexico in July) and most places to go for dinner were unbearable. Not even the ability to open windows. Not sure how staff manage. Watching the front desk people sweat, wipe off the sweat and hand you keys…The front desk didn’t seem to know what was going on. So many complaints from people about their rooms. No AC in lots of room and no key cards for those on floors 5 and 6. There are a lot of people who are die hard loyals probably because of staff. However this is a Resort I would never recommend until the communication and AC issues are fixed.…
The service in all restaurant is great, the best people are in paradise buffet, Yamel, Oscar, Gama, Carlos &Gonzalo are top notch, they are excellent and go above and beyond to meet your needs. The hotel is dated but ok, air conditioning works well, hot showers any time, beach, pool and activities are great. On the downside the front desk don’t have a computer, everything is done on paper and we’re not organized, you have to pay for Wi-Fi.
