I stayed here with my family and friends for my wedding, which we also held at the resort. The resort is beautiful and right on the ocean. The wedding planning services and all of the wedding staff were AMAZING. It was such a great value for a wedding venue and I would highly recommend it. We stayed in the Sian Ka’an suite which had great views and a bath tub on the patio (though unfortunately, there was no hot water for the bath tub). The cleaning staff went the extra mile and decorated our suite each night with flower petals and towels folded to look like swans. Also the on-site gym is great for a quick workout with an ocean view.
My only complaint was the food. There were many different restaurants, plus room service. Unfortunately, only one of the restaurants served good food (El Sarape). The breakfast buffet was good too, if you can wake up in time to go. I did not try Benazuza, though did hear very good things about it. Definitely not a reason to go to a different resort. More just a reason to go try other, more authentic restaurants in Cancun!

In short we had a good enough time here at the Grand Oasis. The property, like all hotel zones by the beach is right in front of the beach, and there are plenty of things to do and see within the property. You can ride the red “SEA” bus routes 1 and 2 for 12 pesos one way if you want to venture out, cabs will charge you probably a lot more but you can take them elsewhere too, and tours can be booked at the property for a great price.

Unless you have a black band as a “Pyramid” guest, the experience is sub par. Rooms available at the time were not okay until we brought it up(we had to move rooms 3 times due to health hazard), and the quality of food is low including the severely watered-down coffee at the food hall at Tatum.

With the black band, the experience is good. The Market Place is a great buffet spot for breakfast, lunch and dinner with ocean view. Staff was wonderful every day. Coffee was good, quality of food was good, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

Pool was huge and beautiful except the water was always murky, due to the massive volume of people in there all day and night. Need more than workers scooping up things off the floor; need to clean out the water more frequent.

Mentions of staff we want to recognize and thank for all the work they do every day and made a big positive impact during our long stay, but all staff were so helpful:

Property managers Natalia and Alberto Loriones

Market Place staff Edel, Ignacio, Carlos Enrique Chan Gonzalez, Evelyn, and Francisco

We got back about a week ago and honestly yes there are some things that need improving but overall we were impressed even with all the past reviews we still made the most of this trip. We didn’t have black wrist bands either, we thought we got an ocean view room in the ocean front building big we were mislead not by the hotel by cheap Caribbean not the hotel. We could change our room because the hotel was booked solid. The only complaint I have is we were in the back building and only 1 elevator worked for the whole building. It made it hard on mornings with people checking out and what not. The staff was wonderful! I can’t say enough about them. The food was decent, and I hear people complain but are you looking for 5 star food? I was t expecting it but we at the steakhouse, the sushi place, buffet and Italian place, all were excellent! The buffet I enjoyed the choices of fresh fruit, and made to order omelets and panini’s also loved the fresh salsa and guacamole. Also you are in Mexico not the States so why they say sausage it’s not what you are used to back home. The rooms are small and dated I felt like the 1990’s but our room was clean so no complaints there. Also the lock you needed a key for, I safer way is the new updated ones that we can select the code to get in so there won’t be issues with money disappearing which we had none but I saw some previous complaints about that. Also there are no vents in the bathrooms it gets sooo hot when taking a shower and there is a window from the room into the bathroom which I wish was completely frosted instead of half frosted. The Balcony is small but if you are on the bottom floor you get much bigger ones with lounge chairs. Also we relaxed on the quieter side of the resort but if you want to college spring break feel then go to the crowded side. Drinks are only served from 11-11 so be prepared lines when they first open are a thing. You have to call to get more towels when they cleaned our room they took them all and didn’t replace them and we had to call to restock the fridge too. Honestly maybe they are used to college kids at this resort and yes it’s loud when they come back late from the bars and clubs. So don’t plan on getting a great night of sleep or go during college spring break to avoid it. They were always doing work during the day on the property and always improving the grounds which were well maintained also the huge pool it was wonderful! Plenty places to lay out and if you can’t find one keep looking there are plenty places. This really deserved a 3 but I gave it a 4 because of the staff and the grounds of this resort. If the rooms were updated this probably would have gotten a 5. I hope this helps as we were worried by the reviews but it wasn’t as bad as people made it out to be.

hotel was beautiful... beach was beautiful but overall food was very tasteless... rooms were very hot had to switch rooms.. room service was always a 7$ charge fee and then the food was just as bad... only thing good were the steaks and tacos at the steak house restaurant. The staff was very friendly and kind. everytime we would go to certain restaurants and the times showed they were open but they were actually closed. everything closed at 11 pm which sucked cause the parks such as xcaret were open til after that time and we would be hungry after we came back. wifi was only allowed 1 person per room if not you would have to pay over 10$ daily each person. toilet was leaking in my room even after they “fixed” it. My friends room fridge stopped working. so all of the stuff they had was warm. every single person regardless if they did the littlest thing for you expected a tip. La placita had the best tacos but they dont make tortas so why say they do. I didnt like how they give small glass cups and no straws esp during a pandemic i understand that everything is washed but still. i seend then just gice it q little swipe then rinse and ise it again. they also re use recycled plastic cups. Express check out was not working which wasted our time. overall i would not stay at this hotel again.

We just visited this hotel hoping for a fun entertaining getaway but instead we got a boring resort. There’s virtually no entertainment by the pools or beach...There’s also zero service on the beach, no music throughout the resort during the day either. The food...GARBAGE! The buffet is tiny and has a small food selection, with absolutely zero flavour or taste to anything. We’re in our 30’s and we were hoping for a party resort based on reviews, but instead got a resort that was painfully boring with horrible food. They won’t even refill safe drinking water in your room without charging an extra fee. The room was also tiny and it looked like it was cleaned at the bare minimum. I never say I’m happy to be home from a vacation in Mexico, but this time I am! If you want the bare minimum with garbage food, than that is the place to be. What a waste of our hard earned money. Spend the extra money, and stay somewhere better. Also if you just book a regular room, know that you won’t be enjoying yourself at all with the food selection as there is only 1 buffet you can eat at ...ABSOLUTELY terrible. We aren’t picky eaters either! Do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else!

I am unsure where to start. We just arrived home from our stay at the Grand Oasis, Oceanview room(Grand Plus member). I have included some pictures. We had mold in our shower, our blanket looks like it hasn't been cleaned, ever. Our TV had LED bulbs showing through the screen. Our fridge was only stocked 3 times in the 6 days we were there, and our room was only cleaned twice. ( I had to seek someone out for the second cleaning.) Our room flooded when it rained NYE and the next morning when we realized it, I went down seeking assistance and no one came to help us clean it up. I put the wet rug, wet comforter and wet towels in the hallway that were from the rain leaking and yet, none of the items were replaced in our room. There was still standing water in room under the bed and the nightstand.

The food was terrible! If you wanted to eat at the steakhouse you had to go stand in line at 3 PM every day (that’s how they accepted reservations). I stood in line for 45 minutes and it is not worth it. My husband and daughter were not given a choice of how they wanted their steak cooked; (they were served however the chef choose to cook it that night) both said it was like chewing bubble gum. There are not enough restaurants to serve the amount of people who stay at the resort. We spent A LOT of time waiting for a table, trying to find an open restaurant(the hours are ridiculous), or waiting for the food. Not one person in our group were ever able to get a table at the pizza place.

On NYE they wanted to charge us additional money to attend the beach party. We were told 50 dollars pp, but young kids in our group were quoted 26 dollars pp. Why? We paid over $1500 per person for 5 nights/6 days and they wanted to charge us more? Ridiculous. Its an all inclusive resort but they separate you into 3 groups based on what you pay for(lite, grand, pyramid). We were grand members and limited on where we could go on the beach and what restaurants you could eat at. Don't get me
wrong... you could eat at ANY of the restaurants, but you will pay extra if you are not a pyramid member. (WTF?) What a joke and a total waste of our hard earned money.

The only plus I would give this resort is the beach. It is nice, but not worth the price tag. Go somewhere else where you could have a nice beach, better rooms and better food! We will definitely visit Cancun again but never this resort. We had 17 people in our group and this Resort is now a running joke between all of us. I highly recommend that YOU DO NOT STAY HERE!

We needed to get away from our busy schedule and the Grand Oasis provided us with the perfect spot.

Personnel: The staff was friendly, happy, and very helpful. From checking in to checking out they were there to make you feel special. Because we wanted to take a nap in the afternoon without being disturbed housekeeping said they would make sure our room was cleaned early each day.

Accommodations: Clean and well cared for.

Entertainment: They had two "fiestas" celebrations (Thursday & Saturday) outside and was fantastic. The Red Circus was amazing.

If you are looking for a place to get away and not break the bank: This is the place. We have been coming for 16 years and would not consider another resort in Cancun.

PROS: Clean sheets, a good view and if you're lucky in the black package, a mini private adults only area

CONS: terrible drinks (and very minimal selection), terrible cafeteria-like food, lack of towels, was 2 hours late checking us into our room, no clear navigation if you've booked via CheapCarribean to which lobby you should be staying in.Not much entertainment at night, the two bars were very odd and the club kinky we were really looking forward to was closed.

I will say, you get exactly what you pay for - we knew it wasn't going to be the greatest, but it was just so bad it was laughable

This would be great if you're on spring break for the cost of it- but otherwise avoid it

The property is BEAUTIFUL, and the customer care is the best EVER. I tip my hat to the concierge service. They called tour operators on my behalf to arrange hotel pick up (I don’t speak Spanish). I am particularly grateful to Adrian, who called a tour operator to ask for return of my mask and snorkel which I left behind after my shipwreck snorkel tour. I didn’t believe I would get it back - the mask was expensive and fitted to my face - I was SO grateful to get it back! Aaeron was another concierge in the Pyramid building who called this tour operator for me and helped me track the items returned to the hotel. Thank you!!

This is my first time to Mexico and all of the staff were so kind. I encourage everyone to bring $30 in one-dollar bills and tip tip tip. Lay a dollar by the grill for the guy making your omelet. Give $1 to the guy who gives you coffee or makes your drink. The staff people work hard for low pay and show tremendous appreciation for just $1! And of course, leave bigger tips for the room maid. Most people don’t tip but please don’t be like most people.

The entertainment shows were professional, artsy and I quite enjoyed those too. I wish I didn’t like the food so much. So many wonderful things to say but I’ll stop here.
