We typically go to Puerto Vallarta, and coming to Cancun was a mistake. The hotel is off the beating path, the pictures on here are not what you get. Food is bad and the rooms need updating. Don’t go!

If you are staying at this hotel make sure to visit Evely at the main pool bar as she is the best! Super friendly and makes the best cocktails at the resort! About the hotel: We had a spacious room with a nice sea view and a balcony, however, the room has a lot of mold on the walls, but it’s not a big deal if you don’t look at them lol. The food was okay, but could be better as we stayed there for 10 days and we had almost the same breakfast and lunch everyday, dinner was changing a little bit. Restaurants were a joke… the sea food restaurant served sea food only during the dinner, and it was a canned soup with frozen seafood cocktail….Mexican restaurant was okay but the main buffet had more Mexican food than the restaurant and was way better. The only restaurant we enjoyed was Italian, which has a delicious food. Overall, we suggest to eat at the main buffet. To sum up, we enjoyed our stay but will not return to this resort. P.S. ask Evely for Riviera Maya cocktail, she makes the best one!!!!…

I stayed here with my sister and best friend and aside from the views the hospitality from the whole staff especially Maria Can and Pablo Cornelio at Albatross were amazing and so friendly! Will definitely come back and recommend this all inclusive hotel!! The beach was beautiful and the pool bar was my favorite.

This is the hotel you want, you can stop looking. The staff at the Occidental are best in class and second to none. They rescued my vacation and allowed for a same day check in without a reservation. When a reservation at a neighboring hotel fell through, my girlfriend and I walked next door and asked if they had any availability, Jose Martin at the front desk is a saint. He greeted us with a smile and a cerveza (beer) upgraded us to a comfortable room with a wraparound beach-view balcony. Next Jose equipped us with wristbands that would provide all-inclusive no limit access to drinks and food at all of the resorts many restaurants and bars. He explained they had shows every night at the hotels large theatre. He also helped us to make dinner reservations for the next night. I might name my kids after this man after the service he provided. He completely saved out trip from disaster. All at a very reasonable cost. I also want to recognize a waitress Nancy and a bartender Pedro. Nancy would come and offer to refresh your drink before it was even empty. And Pedro made the best palomas of all the bartenders on staff. Other highlights, a day trip to Isla Mujeres. Get the privilege package for $120 each. Trust me it’s worth the extra $30 USD, the $90 boats are packed and dock at a very busy pier. The slightly more expensive catamaran is well worth it. Snorkel on the way to the island, then rent a cart and explore. We really liked seeing the cliffs at punta sur. Best meal of the trip was at Ilios, a Greek restaurant across the street from the resort. Go at sunset, they seat you in a beautiful room on the lagoon looking over at the Cancun main city. Be prepared with small bills for tipping and you will have the best experience of your life here. Thank you Jose, Nancy, and Pedro; and to all of the staff at the Occidental Tucancun. The food is not good , not enough and no variety. Air conditions don't work properly. The incidents were reported but nothing was fixed. If you don't go to eat early then you will not be able to find food.

We came here for a bachelorette and quickly found out we were not welcomed at this resort. The front desk were annoyed immediately and was not very helpful. We were uncomfortable during our entire stay. my sister and I asked the front desk if it would be possible to get rooms near each other since we were traveling together and before we could finish speaking, Enrique, cut us off and said no. There weren’t any towel cards available and we were unaware that a lost towel card cost $25. When we tried to get one the next morning there were no notes and the front desk did not believe us. We had no information about the resort and where things were located because once we were checked in he sent us on our way and then gave us dirty looks. We didn’t know where to make reservations for dinner and when we tried to we were shut down immediately saying we needed to get reservations done at 7am. We felt like the only non Spanish speaking group and noticed that the staff was very accommodating and friendly to those who spoke English. We felt like we could not ask for help or even speak to management because they too did not like us and we’re unwilling to accommodate us. The food was not good either. There were fruit flies all over the fruits and the watermelon tasted rotten. I suggest spending a bit more and staying somewhere else. This resort had high ratings so we were very shocked that we were treated so poorly.. we believe if you can speak Spanish you’d receive better service. …

Had an awesome time on Spring Break at the Occidental Tucancun! The staff was awesome and made it a memorable trip. Shoutout to Victor for doing a great job with the activities by the pool and for creating a fun environment! Also, Evely was so fun at the bar! She's so kind and great with people and made our group laugh continuously. They helped create memories that my friends and me will remember for years to come!

Rooms are cold, comfortable beds. Do not pay for ocean view it's a window. And they only book out the main building If you want a good view and room, get a balcony the rooms are dated but clean smell no mildue smell. Very nice. The food is horrible most of the time. Buffet is the same stuff worse than a carnival cruise Buffet. Only a few restaurants and you have to book the same day. Early or no spots are available. Fish 🐟 restaurant, I didn't try Italian, didn't try. Mexican, ok. If you're trying to get a budget hotel w food, this is it. The ocean is amazing and the beach is good. The service is great, which is why it's a 3 star. And great service for drinks, but they are not great. The restaurants outside the hotel are great, but US $ so you end up paying for the higher end price anyway. Location to all cancun is great. So book wisely. First off, Gracias Dali! at the buffet Mirador. She goes above and beyond to serve you, always with a smile and happy attitude. I can’t say enough about her, she’s AMAZING!!! Grisel Gracias! For always meeting our requests when it came to seating us at the Mirador restaurant. She is a pleasure. Overall great resort, room and mini fridge stocked daily. No complaints there. We had a great ocean view room looking over the adult pool on the 4th floor! I’m not to big on alcohol drinks, so I can’t be of much help in this category, but for MY liking they were fine. And for the reasons I mentioned above I rate it a 5 star. Now, for the not so good. I consider myself to be a big foodie. I am not afraid to explore and try anything and everything at least once, and from visiting this resort in the past many times, the food here is no longer as good as it was. I give it very hard 2 star. I was highly disappointed. Let’s just say my husband had to visit the ER, but I won’t go into that (I’m sure you get my point) If they fix that it would be an excellent place.…
