Hotel NYX Cancun offers a vibrant atmosphere with energetic music and activities, although this buzz can sometimes impinge on guests' relaxation. The beachfront location is widely praised for its beautiful setting and convenience to local attractions. While the staff's friendliness and overall cleanliness receive high marks, the hotel's value is debated, with some guests encountering unexpected costs.
Amenities are generally appreciated, but inconsistent service and room issues are noted. Noise is a recurrent concern, potentially affecting the tranquility of stays.

I really don’t know where to begin. This was our first trip to Cancun and I can’t say enough good things about it. The hotel is full of sweet, welcoming and helpful staff. They don’t let you open a door on your own if they are standing near it. They pull out chairs for the ladies. They speak very good English for the non Spanish speaking.
It is most definitely worth your money to go all inclusive—if you’re questioning it, just pay the extra because you won’t regret it.
The Magic Bar is really what changed our minds. Eddy is the daytime bartender and he has got to be the sweetest, friendliest and most patient guy ever. He makes the BEST drinks and coconut/Tajin snack. Eddy knew our names after day 1 and he shared his family with us even. I wish could have taken him home!
The sargassum was pretty prevalent during our stay but the staff was out early in the morning cleaning off the beach for us to enjoy. That soft white sand and beautiful blue water just can’t be beat!
The pool was clean and taken care of also!
Our room had the most breathtaking view. If you can afford the king suite on the Caribbean side, do it. We had the top floor with a balcony and my favorite way to start and end my day was out on the balcony just taking in the sounds and views.
Our fridge was stocked each time we asked for our room to be cleaned and they made beautiful designs with the curtains.
Breakfast was WORTH. IT. Huevos rancheros, fresh beans, fried plantains, pork...omg.
At lunch make sure you try the NYX burger, bacon wrapped hot dog, shrimp cocktail and nachos. For dinner there’s a different theme each night, definitely plenty of new foods to try. The fish was fantastic!
Each afternoon there are fun things to do with groups. Gustavo is hilarious and so inviting! He even offers prizes for the bags tournament, volleyball, etc.
This hotel has got to be one of Cancun’s best kept secrets. Not crowded, centrally located, and easily affordable.

This hotel would have got 5 stars had they not tried to initially rip us off. I had booked one of the newer rooms with a sunset view and king size bad, however when we got there around 10pm at night, they gave us a crappy old room. Wife and I were disappointed as I told the reception and bell-boy to ensure the room we get is what the type of room I booked. But yes it was like late at night and we were tired to make any noise about it.
Anyhow, the next morning I raised this and instantly was moved to a new room, so I have no idea why they did this, maybe to see if customers who don’t complain will stay in the old rooms so the newer rooms are sold as upgrade…who knows.
Anyhow rant over, other than that, the hotel is amazing! New room was great, big bathroom, super clean, great view and 60 inch tv or so! The beach is beautiful, literally connected to the hotel although the sunbeds are in high demand so most morning I laid my towels on the beds around 8am!
What I loved about this hotel was that they had 3 restaurants, the hotel main restaurant, a Japanese restaurant and an Italian one. If you’re all-inclusive (which I highly recommend) then all these restaurants are free, but you have to book the Japanese and Italian restaurants beforehand.
In the main restaurant, I was expecting buffet style food especially as I paid about £100per night for the two of us, but guess what it’s all A-la carte and the food was great, plenty of veg options too. The food quality across all 3 restaurants was excellent, including the drinks, my favourite was the Japanese restaurant where the chef cooks in front of you. The deserts were really nice too.
My wife is vegetarian so I told them this beforehand, they ensured her food was cooked separately. Wife and I were pleasantly surprised while sun bathing, one of the staff called Ceasar takes order for drinks/snacks after 10am, what a life chilling on the beach being served drinks and food lol!
The location of the hotel is good too, it’s within the hotel zone area, about 20mins drive from the airport and a 5/6 mins walk to the local shopping centre (Is La shopping centre). Lots of places to eat outside the hotel too, but the hotel food was soooo good we ended up eating there 90% of the time.
Finally, I just want to let the hotel management know, please take of your staff as they do an excellent job, I tipped the staff every day and didn’t regret it one bit. They all genuinely work hard; I think it is in their culture. In addition, they are a really friendly bunch, so many knew me by name and wife and I always received a warm welcome. The women who clean the room, work really hard to and always with a smile.
Would I stay at this hotel again, of course I would not a single complaint other than the initial old room they gave us, shame about that you would have got 5 stars from me!

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveler reviews.
Staff:
Most staff are extremely friendly, professional and fun!
Special shoutout to Elio, Roberto and David who work the guests hanging out on the beach. These three were superstars and always made sure all guests were looked after.
Ruben at the breakfast buffet and lunch restaurant on the beach was a delight and Norma who works at the reservation desk was also very kind and professional. She really tries to work with your schedule and plans to get you reservations at the a la carte restaurants.
The only staff wv. One, how does that make any sense? Two, we hadn't even turned the AC on.
Long story short, we were dismissed and the front desk staff acted very annoyed with our request to be relocated even though we didn't have a working toilet.
Restaurants:
The a la carte restaurants are absolutely delicious! Make sure you hit the reservations desk asap to get the dates and times you want or it is possible you will miss out.
We went during the xmas/new years holiday so with a completely fully booked hotel reservations became hard to get for parties larger than 2 people.
The beach restaurant's lunch service wasn't my favorite. The food wasn't really fresh or tasty and I usually opted to eat beach snacks.
The dinner service at the beach restaurant was better and the menu rotated daily to give some variety.
Rooms:
Do yourself a favor and get the jr suite or above. If you get a deluxe room make sure it's ocean front. The deluxe rooms and lower are damp, dank, dark and smell moldy. The rooms are so damp that waking up our first night we discovered (besides the flooding toilet) that documents we had left on the dressing table were damp and sticking together.
We later upgraded to an ocean front jr suite and the room was absolutely gorgeous. It was large, open, airy, breezy and the decor had a laid back, beach vibe. It's literally night and day between the new renovated rooms and the old ones.
Hotel grounds:
The hotel does show wear and tear if you care about those things.
The elevator to my building went out of service on three occasions in one week and we were on the 4th floor.
The property has a lot of stairs in general so if you're someone with knee or back problems you've been warned.
Location:
Located in the hotel zone so there are things to do around, easy public transit and easy drive to and from the airport.

Im not one to write reviews ,but seeing the last two negative reviews, I have to give my opinion about this hotel before I forget. I came here for Dental work and decide to stay for the connivence of the location. This hotel is going above and beyond making sure everyone is safe during this pandemic. Right when I checked in they sprayed down my luggage, shoes, with sanitizer, and took my temperature. Even when you leave for the day they check your temperature when you come back into the hotel. The rooms even have tiny complimentary hand sanitizers and make you shower before entering the pool. If you have an issue with stairs then this is not the hotel for you. I find it to be good exercise, and adds to the charm of the hotel . I chose a small double bedroom, I have a balcony that over looks the water, huge flat screen , and tile floors, with an ocean view. I was reading the two negative reviews that the power went out. There was an electrical blackout early July in Cancun. Why would you blame the hotel? As for noise they warn you up front ,but It's been dead silence after 10pm and all I've been hearing is the sound of the ocean and birds. Oh, and the complimentary breakfast es muy deliciouso ! I'm definitely coming back with friends. I'm a flight attendant and stayed in many bad hotels, this is NOT. Don't let the few negative Nancy make you think different. Im off to the bar now for my Coco Loco- Tequelia ,vdka, rum, lime, coconut juice, in a coconut, yum!! Thank you NYX Hotel

The hotel is very pleasant. They have a great beach and pools with a hot tub. There is not a whole lot to do designed for kids, but my 5 year old was perfectly entertained with the pools, beach, and hot tub. Everyone there was very friendly and helpful when we needed something. Efrain was especially helpful with our bags getting them to our room, hauling them up the stairs for us and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was outstanding. Alejandro and Francisco were our servers during our stay and they were helpful and timely. I would go back just for the food. The only problem we had was with the neighboring hotel, Beach Palace. They had extremely loud music/performances each night that made it difficult to fall asleep. That being said, we loved this hotel and will be booking with Hotel Nyx next time we visit Cancun.

The hotel was OK. The liquor was cheap and nasty. We brought our own bottles and they had a problem with that even though they already have been paid in full.
They didn’t have enough cups. They would wash and re-use the cheap plastic disposable cups. they would tell us to keep our cups and those hotel was NOT packed.
Room service is NOT part of the all inclusive & they close at 10pm.
You only have 2 restaurants to eat at for all inclusive.
The mini fridge SUCKED. They put 1 water, 1 beer, a coke and a sprite.
We NEVER got new towels, they would just fix the bed.
Nothing has a wow factor. It’s a cool spot if you’re 18-23.

There is a reason all these reviews contain names. This was the best personal service we have ever received at any resort. Everyone makes it a priority to learn your name and your preferences.
Heriberto was the first to greet us, get us drinks, and carry our bags to our room. Everyone at the front desk went above and beyond to help us. We booked a standard room, but I had foot surgery three weeks prior and needed a ground floor or access to an elevator. We were very willing to pay for an upgrade. And an upgrade it was!! For only $40 more dollars a night we were upgraded to a lovely suite.
We got room 522 and wow! It was on the third floor, but right across from the elevator that nobody ever used. Heriberto said it was one of the absolute two best rooms at the resort. We loved the view most of all. The balcony was huge, as in big enough to have a party of 20 people easily.
I had read all about Eddy at the Magic Bar and made quick friends with him. He gave us wonderful recommendations and tasty drinks.
Ruben at the Deck Cafe was an excellent server, so personable! Abel at Chianti and Deck was one the best, top-notch servers we have ever met. I’m telling you that the service by everyone is impeccable!
Now let’s talk about Covid-19 safety. I felt so safe at NYX, and the airport even. Every single measure you can imagine is put into place. When you enter, you step on a shoe sanitizer, then sani-wipe your passport in addition to getting more sanitizing gel for your hands. Every time you enter an eating area you must use the hand sanitizer. In fact, hand sanitizer is available everywhere including the elevator. Face masks were worn by every single employee including the life guard.
Once again, I can’t recommend Hotel NYX enough. My husband and I wondered if perhaps they had us confused with someone famous...that’s the level of service we received. We’ll be back ASAP!

Just got back from our Feb 5 stay at the NYX. The rooms are quite nice and modern and bathrooms were very large and shower was very large as well. We stayed in building 2 fifth floor sunset suite room looking over the lagoon and had beautiful sunset views . The food was very good. Especially in the Chianti Italian and Umami Asian. You do not need a reservation to eat at the Asian restaurant. They have a wonderful menu of sushi and asian dishes. If you want to have the chefs cook in front of you however you do need to reserve those tables. Nora is great and accommodating. The lunch menu at the Deck is great.Amazing tacos, calamari and burgers, and they will even serve you food on the beach. Look for Jose for beach service. He is absolutely amazing and tentative. Tip him well he hustles like no other. The beach is so beautiful and the sand is like white powder all along the strip. The pool are is small and not very many chairs there but we come for the ocean anyway. Only a couple of days did we have to hustle to find enough chairs on the beach. We were a group of 11 who have travelled together all over Mexico and the Carribean in 4 and 5 star hotels and this hotel is on par. All in all this hotel is nice and small and quaint and I would go back again in a heartbeat.

Me and my wife went for 7 days, the staff was friendly, rooms were clean and new, ocean view was great. Lots of variety of food but a little bland, some meals were great some pretty blah, felt like there was no salt or flavour. Drinks were a little watered down, they’ll put a lot of juice or ice in so tel them before hand not to. Our washroom and entire floor (3) had a sewage/poo smell at times, and it was pungent. Place seems good for couples and families, there should be more entertainment, they have live bands at night.. but it gets boring after 2 nights, they need a show/performers or something at least twice a week, gets a little boring at night. Pools and hot tubs close at 8pm and the hot tub wasn’t warm. I would recommend NYX for someone laid back, beach view was beautiful and clean. Gym was great! Good for people who workout often. Overall I still enjoyed the resort. Also do not go to COCO bongo worst club in the entire world, they stuff 5000 ppl into a room that fits 2000, wasted $180 on tickets for that crap. And the excursions are expensive in the front lobby, walk down the street and before bubba gump and flamingo mall you’ll find a small unit where this guy Ricardo sells tickets you can bargain prices with him, bring down what ever he says by $20 -$30. We went on the Chichen Itza tour one day and Tulum another for 2 people he charged $200 USD and in the front lobby of NYX they were charging $280.00

Experience was great in some ways, terrible in others. First day, we waited while being told it would only be another 30 minutes until our room was ready about 4 times, finally get to our room and there’s a half inch gap under the door right next to the giant party palace blasting music, weird brown dirt spots all over the floor, and the mini fridge is not stocked with what it said it was going to be. Front desk staff was very kind in moving us to another room, but due to the holidays there was limited availability which is understandable. The rooms have a giant variance despite being the same exact class of room. Do not stay on the south side of the hotel (towers 3 & 4), the party palace next door sometimes blasts music until 10pm, but daily for about 3 hours. The beach is so beautiful, and the staff was AMAZING 95% of the time. Bartender Juan Jose was great! The staff at the Deck was also amazing. The breakfast food is the best, and lunch and dinner were pretty good most of the time.
Front desk staff told us the wrong information regarding the 2 specialty restaurants, so was not allowed to eat there the day we planned but no biggie. Experience at one of the speciality restaurants was probably one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.
Bring your own toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, and soap as the ones provided are extremely drying.
Overall it was decent, but definitely not worth the hundreds of dollars spent on it. Maybe only come here if you get a really good deal.
