My second trip staying at the Renaissance Cancun Marina and I’m already planning my 3rd trip. The COVID precautions were in place so the four of us felt safe. The festivities started soon as we arrived. A round of Margaritas before we went up to the rooms. Like clockwork, everyday when we returned back to our rooms they were clean and fully stocked, the breakfast buffet is the best, 5 star service, professional staff and they speak good English so there were no language barrier for us. I recommend for couples looking to get away from the hectic Hotel zone.

You may be thinking, hey there's no beach. You'd be wrong. You can use the beach club, they have a shuttle, or it's about a 10 minute walk. It's a pretty nice beach, and the pools are small but nice, and they have a restaurant and full bar, and the WiFi is super fast. So don't worry about that. The hotel is next to rather large mall that has everything you could want. There is a gourmet food court that is really good. A great area, something for everyone (from Foie Gras to Dominoe's pizza LOL). It's a really nice spot overlooking the marina. There are also a number of really good restaurants in the mall. Great food over there. The hotel itself is extremely well run. The staff are totally amazing. I've been here for 10 days, and I can't say enough about the staff. A small hurricane came in--poof, they have covers for the balconies and windows to keep the rain out. I needed to print some work documents--email them, poof, done. Finally, if you can get the breakfast option, get it. The food is really good. Omelette station, and all of the favorites you would want, including my favorite--and enchilada stand where you can get fresh made enchiladas cooked in a pizza oven. So good. It's also open later, so realistically you could eat and early lunch. Great food, great service. The pool at the hotel is small, but adequate. Bottom line, you cannot go wrong with this place. It's got everything you would want or need. If you are a total beach bum and that is all you care about, go elsewhere. But if you want a variety of things to do, a variety of walkable food choices, and excellent service, this is your place in Cancun. I will miss this place when the time comes to leave and all the great staff who made my stay a wonderful experience.

I Needed a hotel around Cancun due to Hurricane Zeta. By the time I arrived the preparations for the Hurricanes arrival were well underway. I was impressed by the way all the windows and doors were wrapped up 👍 The room was nice and clean and breakfast was great.

This is our third trip here and it’s a measure of how wonderful we think this place is, that we felt safe to return during a pandemic. We’ve been here two days and sadly, our confidence has been badly dented. Let me start by saying that the hotel does seem to be working hard to make the environment safe, with all safety protocols in place that you’d expect. Where they fall down is when guests are non-compliant. We’ve been horrified to see guests receiving service in common areas such as the reception desk and buffet, without wearing a mask, even though it is clearly stipulated that masks are required. When we queried this with a receptionist, she said that “there is no protocol” for enforcing mask wearing. We spoke to the manager Alejandro about this issue and he said that they are unable to enforce this rule with non-compliant guests, for fear of offending them. We pointed out that a ‘no mask, no service’ policy should be in place and that it is better to offend selfish individuals, than risk spreading this virus, sickening and killing people. He promised to discuss this matter with his management team and we’ll see if anything is done. The other issue is cleanliness in the gym. I’ve used this gym many times on our visits and it’s always been immaculately clean. Today it was in a disgusting state. The air conditioning was switched off, which meant that the floor and every surface were slick with gross humidity - a slipping hazard waiting to happen and unsanitary air filtration in an area where people are exercising and breathing heavily. Used water cups, a hand towel, and paper cleaning wipes were left strewn around on the equipment and furniture. There were no clean water cups and very little water was left in the cooler. I had to go down to reception twice to ask for the air conditioning to be turned on and was told that it took a while for it to kick in. The lady on reception even suggested that I phone ahead in future, to request that the air conditioning be switched on, before I venture in there. As I pointed out, the air conditioning should be switched on all the hours the gym is open - it’s simply dangerous to do otherwise. I note that another TripAdvisor reviewer complained about this issue in August this year, so management clearly doesn’t care. It took 25 minutes before the air conditioning started functioning and a further 30 minutes before two members of hotel staff wandered in separately and removed a couple of the stray dirty cups. I had to ask the second one specifically to remove the dirty hand towel left on one of the weight machines. By the time I left - more than an hour after I first complained - there were still dirty cups left lying around and the clean cups and drinking water had not been replenished. Luckily there are plenty of disinfectant wipes/spray/bottles of hand sanitizer left in the gym, which is just as well, because clearly, it’s up to guests to keep this public area clean. The whole frustrating experience showed that staff are ignorant of or poorly trained on the necessity for strict hygiene and a prompt response to guests’ needs with regard to COVID safety. As I told the manager, the things I’ve described undermine my confidence in this hotel’s ability to keep guests safe. I don’t want to feel this way, because this is a lovely property, with really wonderful staff, but I don’t feel safe here, right now.
