Nestled in a prime location with a clean beach and easy transportation access, the InterContinental Presidente Cancun Resort is lauded for its spotless cleanliness and serene atmosphere. While the rooms are celebrated for their cleanliness and occasional upgrades, some guests point out issues with odors, noise, and dated decor. The service generally receives accolades for attentiveness, despite occasional inconsistencies. Amenities such as the excellent beach and club access are popular, though some facilities may appear outdated. However, the value proposition has been questioned by guests who've encountered unexpected charges and perceived high costs.

We just got back today for our 2nd trip this year to the Presidente and it was amazing as usual. Prior or our arrival we stayed at the JW Marriott and although the JW is nice it is definitely a different vibe. The Presidente is one of the oldest hotels in Cancun with only 300 rooms, it is not as new and updated like the JW, but it is our favorite. We prefer a more quiet, low key experience. We like that the staff is attentive and kind, they remember your favorite drink or breakfast item and they go out of their way to make you happy. We live the calm, quiet beach that you can stay in without having to worry about the waves taking you under. We were there in March as well and the ocean was blue and crystal clear, this time the water was murky at times, but the staff went out of their way to clear up the little bit of seaweed there was.

We have been staying here for years and really never take advantage of the amenities included in the resort fees, but this time we did. We kayaked several day and also did the catamaran boat with Luis from AquaWorld. He is a great guide and answered all our questions and made us feel safe.

As Platinum members we were offered our upgraded, but decided to take it up a notch and pay the extra or the ocean front room with the balcony at the club level…so worth it. We always pay for the club access, but this time it was included with the room.

I can’t say enough about the service, food and our overall stay. Again, this is an older hotel with a quiet, laid back vibe. If you’re looking for a party scene this is not the one. This is somewhere you stay to relax and enjoy the great food and service. Can’t wait for our next visit.

Despite being one of the oldest hotels around, this property is very well-kept. The lobby and my room were very clean. Hand sanitizers were present at main touch points i.e. elevators. Staff were all wearing masks. At the time of this writing, there aren’t enough guests at the hotel to make social distancing a concern. The room that I got was very spacious with all the standard features save for a balcony(which I will touch later).

The staff were friendly and professional. They really try to make your stay as good of an experience as possible. Overall, pleasant to interact with.

The best feature of the hotel is the beach. The water is very clear and calm. The white sand is very soft! If you were to go down the hotel zone in say, the JW Resort area, the surf is there is kinda rough.

Due to covid restrictions, a number of amenities are still closed down—gym, 2 other restaurants, the club lounge, and a suite tower. The last two is where the biggest opportunities of their service can improve upon.

Suite tower: it is quite dishonest to advertise rooms that are in this tower, only to be given a downgrade (def bait and switch). Since that was the case, they should’ve also proactively comp Ambassadors who didn’t get the guaranteed upgrades with points(I had to point this out to the concierge the next day that Ambassadors are to be comped 10,000 points in lieu of an upgrade)

Club lounge: they still advertised room rates with club lounge premiums despite this being closed. You have to go to restaurant by the beach to get your breakfast (and pay for it). Tip: if you are Royal Ambassador you should be comped 10,000 points in lieu of the lounge

If you have no status with IHG, or couldn’t care less about it’s nuances, then this is a great property! The beach alone is def worth it if you want a calm, relaxing beach to float around all day. Just be wary about booking rooms that are actually unavailable, or booking rates that have premiums like a club lounge that’s not in
service.

If you are an IHG elite, be proactive about your benefits because they will not outright give them to you! Def brush up on your entitled comps if they couldn’t guarantee your upgrade, late checkout, etc. Def remind them about the $20 F&B credit to your folio

Dear 245francisv, Thank you for taking the time to give us your review on your recent visit to Presidente InterContinental Cancun. I'm glad to learn that your overall experience was of your entire satisfaction and that you felt safe during your whole stay with us. It's fantastic that you had a great time at our amazing beach which is recognized for locals and visitors as the BEST in Cancun! As Ambassador member we truly value your feedback. Unfortunately, as you mentioned in the last year our daily operations have been affected in many ways due the COVID Pandemic. We are very sorry for the inconveniences that you faced during your last stay due that restrictions. We commit us to improve the Ambassador members experience and reforce with our Front Desk, Guest Service staff all the benefits and compensations that as an Ambassador member you are entitled at InterContinental Hotels and Resorts. We do hope for the opportunity to welcome you back in the near future to show you our true hospitality. Kind Regards, Sonia Ceballos Resort Manager

My wife and I visited here for 2 night during the COVID pandemic. We were very impressed with the sanitary measures and precautions requiring guests to wear masks everywhere except in the dining areas and pool/beach area. Hand sanitizer available everywhere

We are Platinum Elite members and were upgraded to an 8th floor king room with an beautiful ocean view. The room was very nice, comfortable bed, nice bathroom with a glass wall that looked into the bedroom but with a sliding shutter if you wanted privacy. Only complaint was the occasional lack of hot water in the shower - tepid water one day only but was not too bad.

We ate a few meals at the hotel restaurants and it was mostly good although the pizza was pretty disappointing. Food and drink prices are expensive for Mexico but not bad for a nice hotel. There are plenty of other less expensive dining options outside of the hotel and it's easy to take the bus anywhere in the Hotel Zone for 12 pesos. The wait staff at the restaurants and at the beach were all very nice and attentive

The real gem of the hotel is the pool and beach areas - 2 large swimming pools and probably the best piece of beach in the Hotel Zone. The beach is shared with some condominiums so there is no real public access - it was nice to be able to avoid the beach vendors which can be a hassle when you are just trying to relax . They also had a falcon with a handler to keep the sea birds away.

This is a great hotel when coming to Cancun with a beautiful beach and excellent staff. Highly recommended!

This was our return visit to the Presidente InterContinental Cancun at my wife's request for her birthday vacation celebration. To my wife and I, it all starts with people who love their work and exhibit true professionalism and hospitality. Thank you to Senor Humberto Santos for your fantastic service, and for making sure every detail was looked after. Thank you too to the wonderful staff, and especially the team in Club InterContinental who treated us like royalty. Everything was 5-star. We enjoyed our large modern, well appointed club level suite which offered such a amazing view from our balcony, looking over the pools, beach and ocean, including electronic room darkening shades if we wished to sleep late. We found everything to be just wonderful.

Literally this hotel sits on the best beach in all of Cancun. The hotel, grounds, and beach are all spotlessly maintained. The spa is fantastic. The sand is supper soft and the water is amazingly calm and clear, and unlike many other locations, the pools and the beach are not too crowded and very peaceful.

The location so very near shops, restaurants, and nightlife. All within walking distance, or your can safely take the R1/R2 bus which stops just in front of the hotel. If you’re looking for a very relaxing vacation, this far and away is your place. We hope to be able back again soon!

Stayed here after staying 4 days at the Hard Rock with all inclusive. Enjoyed drinking and eating as much as we could whil there, but decided to come here so we could justify leaving the hotel and explore Playa Del Carmen and Xcaret.

This hotel appeared to be following strict covid guidlines, which was great. I felt safe here. They had a mask on policy for workers AND guest while in the hotel lobby which other hotels did not enforce at all. At the the pool and beach it was not required. Sanitizer everywhere!! The restaurant had all the dinner ware individually wrapped. The pool towels were wrapped in plastic. It just felt soo sanitary.

I travel with my girlfriend and after spending 4 days at the Hard Rock, which is more a low key party hotel, it was a nice break to come to the Presidente. The vibe was waay more chill and felt very romantic. The food at the restaurants and pool/beach service was very good. Even on the days we spent all day eating and drinking at the hotel ala carte, it was still much cheaper staying here than an all inclusive.

The hotel is older, and the design shows, i believe it's one of the original hotels built in the 70's. The room have been remodeled. The best part of the hotel is the beach. without a doubt the best beach location on the hotel zone. The water is very calm and can walkout for nearly 100 yards waist deep. There was absolutly no seaweed on the beach, unlike the rough sea and all the seaweed at the Hard Rock.

If planning on doing activities outside a resort, this hotel ala carte is a great place to stay.

We stayed for 2 nights when we first arrived in Mexico before heading off to Holbox for 5 days. We like it so much we came back for the final 3 days of our trip.
The staff are attentive, happy and polite which makes you feel like they enjoy working here. The part of the beach that the hotel has is by far the widest, cleanest and quietest, we didn’t feel like we were in the usual madness/party atmosphere of Cancun which really suited us.
The breakfast is delicious, as is the vegan sushi we had at their restaurant on the beach. They also sell wood fire pizzas that look delicious, we didn’t have time to taste this trip.
The rooms are spacious, clean and the beds are extremely comfortable. We had a room on the ground floor each time so has some outside space too which was a bonus.
My only negative was that the sun beds that are provided on the beach are very uncomfortable, they really could do with either replacing them or cushions to cover them. The ones around the pools are more comfy but it would be a nice touch to have the foam covers on these too.

Pros. The hôtel has a very nice beach. Great for swimming with kids, with no waves or seaweed. The room was also nice with a nice bathroom. The hotel also offers room cleaning with some efficient measures for safety during Covid, which means unlike hotels in the US, they have not used the excuse of the pandemic to not provide basic cleaning services. Cleaning staff is also efficient and friendly.

Cons. The food at the hotel is simply not good. It is very mediocre at best and one day we ordered fish tacos and the fish downright smelled so we stopped eating at the restaurant from that day on. It is otherwise mostly empty because of overpricing and being not good. The restaurants staff are also unhelpful. They don’t care, don’t follow up on requests, make disparaging comments in Spanish about clients assuming they are not being understood and there is no management in sight. They also tell you some tables are not available to avoid walking further. The club breakfast is crowded and not very diverse. The hôtel being otherwise nice with good facilities to work with, it is surprising that intercontinental has made no effort on that front. The other annoying thing is that the hôtel works as a beach club, with local families coming so the beach is always full and there are never any lounge chairs foe actual clients. Also no entertainment whatsoever. Not a mariachi band, an aquagym class or anything.

All in all we had a nice stay because it is Cancun and we could go out to dinner, and because of the nice weather and sea, however the hotel itself is missing the mark in some aspects.

The location of the hotel is great! The room service was excellent. The staff members cared about what we wanted and tried their best to meet what we wanted. Our room rate included breakfast which was of very good quality and included some of the traditional dishes which we really enjoyed. The size of the beach is another plus point at this property which is very spacious and face private beach experience. Overall great stay and experience.

We've been in the hotel for just one night in order to have a close overnight stay to the Cancun airport where we arrived from Switzerland. The hotel ist pretty close to the airport in the so called 'Hotel area' which is more or less a copy of the Miami Beach area. The hotel itself offers a parking area where you can park your car if you do have one as we did. The lobby is amazing if we speak about the size. The check-in was pretty fast even of the COVID-19 situation. The room itself was bigger then we expected an offers all the amenities you can looking for. They offers you also a kit of COVID-19 measures such as masks and disinfection gels. Other than that you find there also a tube of Aloe Vera in it in case you get a sun burn. The hotel offers you a pretty wide area and is located directly at the beach. It's a bit outside of the main area with all the shops and restaurants but all in a very nice walking distance. In case it's too long for you to walk, you then have also a pretty good alternative which is a taxi which is always around you. We were eating at the restaurant which served beside a very good quality of food also a very nice service. Over all the hotel is to recommend for all of you who are looking for an overnight stay at Cancun or for those of you who are looking for a bit of more quite location beside the trouble of Cancun.

We were staying here for one night before our departure from Cancun airport.
By the time we got there, the Covid-19 was in full swing and everywhere was quiet. So I guess this is probably not the best experience but we made the most of it.
This was redemption stay and I upgrade to a club room for cash. Since the hotel was empty, the club lounge was closed and they did ask if we wanted to get a refund and downgrade back to normal room. We decided not to since they told us we will still get drinks and snacks in the evening and they gave us an upgrade to the top floor room. Check in and check out were very swift and they kindly offered us the late check out I requested. We did not get the full worth of our money but I was happy with it.
The room was excellent and we had a lovely view. The beach and pool areas were pretty quiet due to low occupancy and there were hand gels everywhere and social distancing was being maintained in the single restaurant that was open.
There obviously were no difficulty in finding a lounger on the beach. We noticed everything was well maintained and noticed the loungers constantly cleaned by staff
The evening drinks and snacks were offered in the patio area outside the main restaurant and the choice was quite good and there were more staff than clients, so the service was superb. Thank you Omar for looking after us.
There are shops within 10-15 minutes walk for souvenirs, massages, restaurants etc if you do want to venture out and the bus stop is pretty much outside the hotel if you needed it. We did go for a walk and were pestered to buy stuff all along since there were hardly any people about.
Overall, it was a strange stay, however we made the most of it and we enjoyed our short stay here.
Would recommend this place.

Not sure. We did not walk around the bend. We walked as far as the Riu beach, before the bend. That took us no more than 10 minutes at a show leisurely pace. Cheers

Sorry I am answering so late. Surprisingly, the G-Mart (think 7-11) across the street has really good empanadas! Two plus a soft drink was like $6! You will see MANY taxis stop and grab lunch food there. They also have a Subway. It's the place to stock up on sodas and beer - Coronas are $1.25! I walked down to Coco Bongo from here and it is a good 20+ walk. There is Senor Frogs and Hard Rock there. On the walk, there were small sidewalk places. I didn't stop at any of them.
