This was the second time we visited this resort, and it DEFINITELY won’t be the last! Everything was AMAZING! Before we arrived, the concierge assisted us with transfers to and from the resort, and our driver (I think his name was Ivan) was so incredibly pleasant. The front desk staff was warm and inviting. Our room was clean and beautiful. The concierge provided great restaurant and tour recommendations. The breakfast buffet was delicious and filling (Alejandro greeted us by name EVERYDAY). The pool staff, especially Javier, were incredibly attentive. The only issue, and this was not something the hotel could have changed, was the seaweed on the beach. Apparently, this is seaweed season, so all of the beaches have seaweed, but the staff at the beach did everything they could to us comfortable. We just returned home, and I couldn’t wait to write this review! For my family, this trip was worth EVERY PENNY!! Definitely planning to visit (for a 3rd time) very soon!!

It was 28 years ago when we had our first visit to this property and 50 visits later , about 700 nights on property , it saddens me to know the property has been sold. . I hope the new proprietor does it justice. We have many wonderful memories.

After a lot of research, we knew we were going with a Marriott property (we have had good luck with allergy accomodations - daughter needs to eat gluten free - almost everywhere we have gone and stayed with Marriott). We looked at Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriott Cancun, and Marriott Cancun. We ended up going with Ritz although in hindsight, I would have gone with JW as the JW and Marriott Cancun are connected so you have double the restaurants. In general, the Marriott website is HORRIBLE when trying to research menus. Vacation to us is great food and relaxing and having a family member with a food allergy, we always do a ton of research before deciding on where to stay. Once I found a contact for all hotels and was able to get in touch with an actual person, I started getting menus sent to me. This was so frustrating as I don't know why they don't post on website. Almost all menus do NOT include gluten free markings anyway. Every person I was in contact with basically said, Yes, Yes, Yes, we can accomodate any allergy and in the past, they have. The Ritz basically has 5 restaurants: The Club Grill (fancy, live piano), Fantino (did not go, very small menu), El Cafe Mexicano (buffet breakfast where daughter was able to order gf off menu), D-Lounge (known for sushi) and Casitas/The Caribe Bar & Grill (this is basically the pool side bar/terrace dining - during day it is The Caribe with it's menu and at night it turns in Casitas with a different menu. You can rent actual cabanas at Casitas on the beach for dinner for $100 or you dine on the terrace at no charge). Our first meal was at Casitas. At every restaurant, they ask you about allergies but that does not transfer over to your server always. 🙁 When ordering and asking questions about what gf items my daughter could have, the server started with salad!!! My mouth literally dropped!! I had to go into Mom mode and explain to our server that I had been in contact with Marysol about our allergy, blah, blah, blah...in the end, he obviously got someone to help. My daughter ended up ordering a paella stew to share with her Dad and they even brought out gf bread and separate dipping oil for her. We also asked for gf sweet potatoes fries and without even asking, the server said they would be fried separately in their own oil!!! They were delish!! From then on, we knew we just had to ask questions (which is exhausting every time) and once we found someone who knew about gf, we had no issues. Breakfast at El Cafe Mexicano was amazing! They custom made her something every morning and made her gf pancakes to go along with it! Rest of family enjoyed the buffet...one of the best I've had! Angel was fantastic! The Caribe Bar & Grill - most lunches were pool side and went fine as well - we were able to get gf pizza and tacos. My girl is easy so pizza and tacos make her happy! Also, fresh fruit was a plus!! D-Lounge - they specialize in sushi and it was great! Very cool vibe! Club Grill was our fancy dinner and they were super on top of it! Even our amuse bouche was made gf for the table. Steak and mashed potatoes were fantastic! The corn lobster soup was amazing! Highly recommend getting the cabanas. Like I said, we were there to eat and relax!! Rental is around $230 and is from 9 - 5. Rental comes with guac, pico, chips, fruit plate and 2 water bottles. Service was great. They stop by with cold towels and complimentary fresh fruit popcicles. On the beach, they also have these blue covered chairs for rent for $70 and then of course the regular white loungers for free. We had no trouble getting the free loungers and staff will come put up umbrellas for you and you can get regular food/drink service there as well. There were also plenty of chairs by pool area too! We used the fitness center every day. It is small but served it's purpose. They offer coffee, tea, water bottles and fruit. They have a sauna and steam room which was a huge plus! Overall, a great trip!

I am an airline employee and my wife (in a past life) worked for a major hotel chain. We have been fortunate to stay at many fine hotels around the world. With that being said, this Ritz-Carlton is absolutely outstanding with regard to its caliber of management, service, and lunch/dinner food and beverage quality. I have detailed our first stay more than the other 2 as I thought this was an incredible first impression (in particular as I had no prior stays/loyalty established at this property - though I have carried Marriott Titanium status for the last several years). June 2018 (First Trip) I was awarded what were essentially 2 "around the world" tickets at work, which I was able to transfer to my parents. I convinced them to do a 2 night stopover in Cancun on the way to Europe (all the while planning to surprise them by showing up with my wife as the stay overlapped Father's Day and my birthday - which occurred on the same day that year). In support of my stopover suggestion I purchased 2 nights in a basic room for my parents as a Christmas gift. Between the time of my booking and the arrival months later, the RC team went above and beyond in assisting with the following: (1) Assisting with adjustments and an upgrade to the "Club" level as an amendment to my reservation (at other Marriott properties these types of adjustments are often not possible or are made to be a significant inconvenience). (2) Coordinating a suprise greeting (with my wife and I showing up) at the time of my parents' arrival. My wife and I checked in the night before my parents' arrival and the RC staff coordinated a perfect surprise without our even having to ask (advising us of my parents' arrival at the front door and suggesting using the elevator to descend from the second to first club level to surprise them at the club check in desk). We have a video of this "surprise" and it is apparent how much pleasure the RC staff took in making this memory happen. (3) Providing an exceptional dinner experience at Fantino. Truth be told, I was leaning on the club experience to ensure that my parents were minimally stressed (financially) ahead to the next couple weeks of travel - but they insisted on making a dinner reservation for my birthday/Father's Day. With this being a relatively impromptu dinner reservation (and having done some afternoon snacking at the club), we probably didn't dine as extravagantly as the restaurant warranted. However, our experience was absolutely excellent. From the time of my parents' check in to the end of their brief stay, the RC never put a foot wrong. This made for an outstaning start to what was the trip of a lifetime for my parents. We were slightly unlucky with weather (limited sun and a lot of drizzle), but the silver lining of this bad luck was that we were driven to enjoy the amenities and service of the RC in a way that we may not have otherwise. Watching my parents enjoy themsleves on this brief stay was worth an order of magnitude more than the bill. June 2021 (Second Trip) We returned to the RC with my Godparents (incidentally on my birthday) and had an exceptional stay (with weather again being less than ideal). We booked an oceanfront suite with a dining package and enjoyed The Club Grill twice and Fantino once on this 3 night stay. The weather was good enough to experience the pool service, which was absolutely top notch. Our second Club Grill experience was slightly less enjoyable than the first (due to proximity to the piano making conversation difficult and food being slightly less memorable than the first dining experience). The restaurant manager was absolutely interested in receiving our feedback (which to my own fault I said I would submit via e-mail and never followed up on - I don't like to spend my vacation time "in the moment" on such feedback). If our first stay was a 10/10 this stay was a 9/10 and really left nothing to regret. July 2022 (Third Trip) We returned to the RC to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday. Despite my Titanium status, I never expect or ask for an upgrade (short of using Suite Night awards) - nevertheless, I was pleased to receive an notice (during our precursor stay at the JW Marriott nearby) that we had been upgraded to an oceanfront suite (an even nicer room with a larger bacony than that I had directly reserved and paid for on our previous stay). This stay was 9.5/10 and we finally had great weather to enjoy the pool and beach. We enjoyed the Club Grill twice and dined outside at the Casitas restaurant one (weather having prohibited this on prior trips). I mentioned a desire to be seated away from the piano based on our last stay and we were given an ideal table near the window, farther from the (pleasant) music. We almost passed on having our final dinner at the Club Grill (thinking we might enjoy a lower key experience in the lobby bar). However, being my wife's birthday we made a last minute reservation and had our finest dining experience to date at this property (and something among the most enjoyable meals that we have ever experienced together - the staff remembering our preference to dine away from the piano and giving us the same table we had during our first dinner). The staff produced a dessert wishing my wife a happy birthday (by name) on the plate and it must be said that Oscar is a top notch professional and absolutely the finest waiter I can recall dining with. Some reviews mention the decor and age of the property (which I don't have an issue with - realizing that every property has a rennovation cycle that may or may not correlate with a given stay). My only real criticism is that breakfast could be improved overall (the dining area is very busy in the morning and the breakfast is a clear step below all other dining experiences). Sometimes service suffered, but the staff was making an effort (I consume a lot of water when starting my morning and this must have been noted as I was brought additional bottles of water at our table). In the future (especially if I had an exceptional room) I would order room service breakfast every day (especially noticing that the American breakfast for 2 was priced on par with the breakfast buffet). Despite ending this review with a somewhat negative comment about the breakfast, this is among our favorite properties in the world (certainly the top 5). We look forward to returning. We have stayed ~8 times at the JW nearby, which has some nice amenities and some very good service. If asked to compare the 2 properties I would simply say that the RC has unmatched service, exceptional dining (breakfast being an exception), and that (while the JW has made good faith efforts to address any shortcomings), I struggle to recall being so much as inconvenienced at the RC (with possible exception of dining near the piano - which was addressed on all subsequent visits to The Club Grill).

That is what our entire guest list said after leaving our wedding at the Ritz Carlton. Being from Hawaii and planning a multiple day/function wedding in Mexico with only one visit prior, I have to say the entire team at Ritz made our special day pure magic! Something we could have only dreamed of down to each and every detail! Every meal was spectacular including events with banquet style meals. I can not express enough gratitude to the team at the ritz from each and every server Angel at el cafe Mexicano, Hildago at every outlet and function who never let my hand be without a drink ;), Javier/Laura at D lounge, Reynaldo/Ulesis on the Beach, Juan Carlos at Club Grille, Niomi in housekeeping, to the sales team Natalia, our event planner Mauricio. These are just a few but for us to remember their names and many more shows how exceptional the service and quality is! If you are someone looking for the best team and experience in Mexico this is your stop!

Great hotel, with top notch service. Best food and beverage in all of Cancun. I hosted multiple events last weekend, Mauricio with events team is most accommodating and professional, it was a pleasure working with him and his team. He made sure all of our needs were met and went above and beyond. If you are planning a wedding or an event I would highly recommend this hotel. By far the best food and beverage in all of Cancun. Fontino and club grill are both Michelin star level restaurants, with synchronized service A+ all the way. fillet with foie is a must have at club grill. Glad we decided to go with the Ritz Carlton cancun as we truly had a magical time for 10 days. Thank you ladies and gentlemen of The Ritz Carlton cancun for providing us such a memorable experience, we will cherish forever. Jamani

There is nothing like the Ritz Carlton experience. From our chauffeur pick up and drive from the airport to the personal treatment at arrival and excellent concierge service during our entire stay through departure, it’s just luxury at it’s best! Beautifully appointed room, turn down service every evening, everyone at the Ritz strives to acknowledge you by name and adds to making you feel valued and welcomed to your vacation home. Stay at the best, stay at the Ritz!

All in all the trip was great! The unfortunate part was my husband and others got sick, but even more unfortunate was the way it was handled. Instead of coming to us directly to find out more, determine if medical assistance was needed, etc, the guest relations coordinator Mauricio contacted our friends that were at the hotel. I cannot express how disappointed I am by this level of unprofessionalism. The amount of unnecessary drama as a result cannot be expressed. If discretion was their concern, then go to the source please. Don’t blame the sick guy.
