Just came back Saturday 1/15/ The best vacation in years! the hotel is spotless, the room was beautiful, every employee was friendly and helpful ! Food was excellent! Buffet was the best we've seen in years. Excellent selection!
We previously stayed at Iberostar Selection five years ago and couldn’t wait to check out the adults-only Coral Level. We had since stayed at three other Iberostar resorts, two in Riviera Maya and one in Jamaica. After an amazing ten nights at Coral Level (3-13 May 2021), this is definitely our new favorite Iberostar. We checked in with the Club Concierge because we are Iberostar Club Members. I could not say enough wonderful things about Alexandr! He was so great even prior to our stay, consistently emailing back and forth answering questions and providing info for us. Club check in is always a breeze but it was especially wonderful because Alexandr was so welcoming and friendly. He even went above and beyond to help us surprise our friends who were arriving a few days later than us. We wanted to do something special for their 20th anniversary and could not have pulled off such a great surprise without Alexandr’s help! Victor helped immensely when our friends arrived for check-in and the system was down. Not only could they not check in to any room, they also didn’t know about their surprise upgrade to Coral Level. Victor went out of his way to get our friends checked in at Coral Level and even escorted them to their room so they could at least change and enjoy some fun in the sun with us. We greatly appreciated the consistent fabulous service and the warm welcome both we and our friends received because of the thoughtfulness and attentiveness of Alexandr and Victor. Also, the sweet lady that kept making us delicious drinks whenever we stopped by the Club Lounge was so wonderful and I wish I knew her name to give her recognition as well (perhaps Alexandr can provide?) Yahir, at the Coral Level Concierge helped get our friends fully checked in later and was very nice and helpful. I chatted with Elvis at the W2M desk and he is so wonderful! We stopped a few times to ask questions on excursions or otherwise and he always had a smile and helpful information or just a friendly greeting when we passed by. Isaac at the Coral Level Lobby was always friendly and helpful. We had extended our initial reservation at Coral Level so our first three nights were in a Junior Suite Oceanfront Corner (#5212) and then we moved to a Junior Suite Oceanfront (#4604). Both rooms were absolutely gorgeous – spacious, clean, beautifully decorated with spectacular views. The corner suite is huge and has a wrap-around balcony and I really liked the more spacious bathroom layout (it has a big tub as well if that’s your thing). It was nice that we could see both sunrise and sunset from the corner balcony. Other than that the Junior Suite Oceanfront was sufficient for us and that’s what I would book in the future. The bed was very comfortable and there was more closet/drawer space than we’ve seen in other resorts. There were double closets – one with drawers, shelves and a safe and the other had a bar to hang clothes (I brought extra hangers which came in handy). The balcony was roomy even with the big jet tub (plenty big for two!) and table with two chairs. There was an extendable drying rack for hanging wet bathing suits too which was nice. Housekeeping/Turndown service was great. Ligia left lots of unique things to surprise and delight (towel animals and beautiful flowers!) and Cecilia went above and beyond with romantic touches. I appreciated the Happy Birthday Chocolate Covered Strawberries, which my husband and I devoured LOL! They were delicious! The attention to detail in every area of the resort is awesome. Everything is kept impeccably clean and everyone is very friendly and helpful. We also love that Iberostar cares to minimize impact to the environment, implementing programs to reduce plastic and increase sustainability, and educate guests on ways we can do the same. The beach and water are gorgeous. There were high winds the first few days and red flags on the beach but there were still people in the water every day. The water seems rough even when there is a yellow flag and it was like that when we were in Cancun the last time. We saw waves knocking people over just ankle deep so definitely be aware if you are taking pics in the water. It was absolutely gorgeous and we enjoyed the view most days from either the Star Prestige Beach Lounge or the Coral Level infinity pool. On Saturdays there is a Coral Level Pool Party which was so much fun! I wish they did that more than once a week because my friend and I had a blast but our husbands had gone golfing that day and they would have loved it. My friend and I had a blast! The DJ played awesome music and it was high energy and everyone was dancing and having fun. The resort supplied some huge pink flamingo floats and everyone had fun playing on those and taking pictures – such a fun time! The Iberostar Spa experience was very nice. Isaac at the Spa desk was so welcoming and friendly and helped us review options. We scheduled an 80-minute couple’s massage and our massages were amazing! Our masseurs were excellent and I asked for their names but it’s hard to read (Estela Alvear 4009 and Moseli Tuyu 2422?) but they deserve credit for their work. Some spas have mediocre massages but they were truly attentive to us and we left feeling so blissful and relaxed. Although we loved the service and the massages, the spa facility could use some upgrades. There is an infrared sauna accessible to women and men separately (in their respective locker rooms) so we skipped that one and met out in the pool area. We attempted to use the wet sauna but it was not on the couple times we checked it. Only one of the three showers was working. What we thought might be the cold dip was not cold and there were no heated Jacuzzi tubs. We mainly used the pool, which has corner areas with jets and those amazing pipe-looking waterfall things that you can stand under and let the water beat down on your shoulders. Only one of those was working though so we alternated and then just laid in the loungers. It’s a nice area to relax, though perhaps not if it were busier because it is a small space. We did really like the relaxation room and enjoyed the beautiful space to relax before our massages. Out of the Iberostar resorts we’ve visited, our favorite Spa is hands-down the one in Riviera Maya ;-) Drinks are awesome anywhere you go on the Coral Level side or when you request at the restaurants. We’ve never been disappointed at Iberostar with food or drinks and this was no exception. All cocktails are expertly-made and top shelf fixins are available so just request your preferred liquor when you order. My husband drank mostly tequila drinks with Don Julio and I had Caipirinhias with Havana Especial or Mojitos. My friend turned me on to Cucumber Mojitos which were a refreshing twist on the classic and worth trying if you’ve never had one ;-) *TIP: If you have a favorite cup, bring it (& a reusable straw). These are great for the beach/pool and the bartenders were happy to make drinks in ours throughout the day. Everything was very sanitary and clean at all the bars. There was also infused water everywhere and various flavors so it was easy to stay hydrated. Our favorite was the Agua Pepino (cucumber water) – so refreshing! In our experience, the food is always delicious at Iberostar resorts as well. We ate at the buffet on both sides and they have anything you could possibly want. La Barca (Coral Level) was our go-to for breakfast. The fresh-made omelets were the absolute best (topped with fresh guacamole and pico – my favorite!) Mimosas are readily available and delicious. I had read reviews before our trip where a lot of people mentioned the green juice at breakfast. It’s called “Hugo Verde” (sounds like “ooo-go ver-day”) and it is so delicious (I started working on a copycat recipe as soon as we got home)! There were a wide variety of fresh juices but we drank the green one every day (figured we needed the detox!) We ate lunch poolside at Coral Level most days. You could always order burgers and quesadillas and they had different setups daily (steak, taco/nacho bar, various sides, etc.) For dinner, we most often ate at the La Antigua buffet at the other resort. La Barca has an a la carte menu most evenings but occasionally does a buffet. We tried the a la carte one night and I enjoyed it but my husband preferred all the fresh sushi and seafood options at the buffet. There is definitely a wide variety of food and it’s all fresh and flavorful. I’m a healthy eater and gluten-free and I had no issues finding things and everyone is very attentive to food allergies, which was helpful. They also have Vegan/Vegetarian options at all restaurants. You can also get a Beyond Burger which I thought was awesome (topped with guac & pico of course!) Restaurants were very clean and sanitary and everything restocked immediately if something ran out. You can self-serve in some areas of the buffet and in other areas someone is waiting to scoop whatever you would like from the selection behind the glass or serve items out of a case. We actually liked it this way because everything stays sanitary, regardless what time you make it to dinner. There are four specialty restaurants for dinner also (Hibachi, Italian, Mexican, and Steakhouse) but we were happy with the buffet. Room service is available 24 hours at the Coral Level also, and it was super fast! We were very surprised that anything we ordered arrived in half the time they said it would. The only negative of our whole stay was that one of the two elevators in the Coral Level resort was not working for most of our stay. We took the stairs several times because it was better than waiting 20 minutes for the elevator to open up without already being overcrowded. This was a small thing and I doubt it happens often. The service surely makes up for anything you could possible feel is lacking! Entertainment is amazing. We enjoyed the shows our first visit to Cancun more than at any other Iberostar resorts and this trip they were even better! Coral Level has lots of pre-show entertainment in the evenings which we really enjoyed because after getting up for sunrise it’s sometimes hard to stay up for the shows that start at 9:30. But the evening entertainment was great to keep the energy up. We loved the mariachi band, the dancing and DJ nights, but our absolute favorite was definitely the Pink Party. They had a Burlesque style show at Coral Level the evening of the Circus Show in the Theater. The dancers are beautiful and so talented and there were aerial acrobatics and a lady that did a burlesque-style almost yoga-esque routine that was insanely beautiful and impressive! Just when you think you are bendy LOL! The hula hoop performer was our favorite. The performers were all in The Circus Show that evening and that show is our favorite. It was like watching Cirque du Soleil. It’s amazing to see the balancing act and the men and women doing the ribbon acrobatics. The hula hoop guy did a long performance in the show and that just took our breath away! My favorite clown from the show (Humberto I think?) was so sweet and fun! All of the performers were phenomenal. I can’t imagine how hard they all must have to train to be able to do what they do but it was just absolutely beautiful to watch! The absolute best part of our stay was the service! Iberostar never disappoints in this area and everyone here deserves recognition for all that they do because they surely work hard and make you feel special. Everyone I mentioned in this review went above and beyond and provided exceptional service and made our stay memorable. I hope they will receive something for the recognition and at the very least we are just thankful and wish them all the best! Others I want to mention are as follows: At La Antigua, Miguel, Eduardo, Carlos & *Francisco were exceptional (*special thanks to Francisco for going out of his way to find my pink sparkling wine I like!) Ivan in the buffet (I think maybe he is a chef?) was so friendly and helpful to direct me to gluten-free options and make sure I found what I needed. At La Barca, Jazive was the hostess most often while we were there and she was always so sweet and greeted us whether we were eating there or passing through. Marissa was the hostess a few times and she was very friendly as well. Joel (“hoel”) was so nice and attentive and recommended delicious gluten-free options for me. Maria was sweet and attentive. Isaac and Nebbai were always friendly and attentive, and Nebbai even went out of his way to find extra guac & pico for us one day! At El Teatro, Salvador was awesome bartending one night we stopped for drinks before the show and Bo Dereck was attentive keeping our drinks coming. At Corales Pool, drinks never ran out with Itzel and Yamily constantly checking on us. Alejandro was a new bartender the night of our anniversary and he kept us laughing. Fredy made us many delicious drinks and we appreciated chatting about learning Spanish (Fredy’s tip is to watch cartoons in the language to help learn it… we are going to try that) Pablo had a margarita stand one night at La Antigua and they were the best margaritas we had! Roque, Sergio, Fredy, Fernanda & Santos made awesome Caipirinhias (my favorite)! At the Star Café, I think it is the manager who was always there though I didn’t get his name but he was awesome! He made sure everything was accurate with orders and very attentive to ingredients for allergies, etc. We loved going by the Star Café for coffees before our morning beach walk for sunrise. Liliana was very sweet the morning she was there and every other day it was this super nice fella who worked there. Nice to have all the tasty coffee options (the espresso at the resort is also delicious!) At the Star Prestige Beach Lounge, Wander deserves extra special recognition because he truly touched our hearts during our stay. He immediately made us feel so welcomed and comfortable and relaxed and was so attentive and kind. He made delicious drinks and a much-appreciated special pineapple drink for my birthday. He is just so incredibly sweet we could not say enough nice things about him! We made it a point to stop and wave or go by for a drink just to say hi even if we weren’t relaxing at the amazing beach lounge. We just didn’t want to pass by without at least a hello J I hope he is there when we return because we are definitely coming back and it just would not be the same without him! Last but not least, our amigos the Star Friends! Jackie was leading all the fitness classes and she was constantly going but always has a smile and stopped to greet people and invite everyone to join. Edgar in the towel station always had a smile and was very friendly. Marina was the host of the shows and games in the theater and kept things moving and fun. I must say, three Star Friends in particular just stole our hearts – Carlos, Irving and Franco! We met these fellas early in our stay and looked forward to seeing them every day and spent more time poolside just because they made every day so much fun! They are so hard-working and high-energy and keep the fun going all day and into the evening. Carlos came up to us one of our first nights by the Coral Level lounge and was telling us about that evening’s events and shows and he was just so sweet and welcoming. We loved his sense of humor and my husband had fun joking around with him. They had many basketball competitions in the pool and Carlos did a lot of belly flops when my husband won. But he was always smiling! Franco kept us laughing when he would move the net farther away when Carlos wasn’t looking. Irving arranged fun games for us and ran back and forth in the heat so we could stay cool in the pool and still play the bocheeball game. These guys work tirelessly all day in the heat and never stop smiling and getting more people involved in the fun. Everyone enjoyed the entertainment these three provided and it was non-stop! I’ve never been to an Iberostar where so many people participated in games and activities like we all did here. Even my husband and I did way more than we usually would because these guys just made everything so fun and enjoyable. We played Cornhole, Bocheeball, Trivia, Bingo, and my husband played a lot of the sports games. Even in the evenings, we would see them around telling everyone about the shows and events going on that night, where to go for this/that and it was nice because some things you would miss if they didn’t make sure you knew where to be for different things going on around the property. That was super helpful. Aside from the day to day, they also went out of their way to do special things for everyone. Carlos requested the mariachi band play a song for my birthday, which was so sweet. Irving arranged the DJ to play a special song for my husband and I on our anniversary. We had dance-offs together and Irving even taught me how to Floss dance! He didn’t know what the worm dance was so my husband showed him that… Carlos was happy we took a video so he could see it as well. They were all so great and we appreciated everything they did to make our vacation extra fun and special. By the end of our stay it was almost like having to say goodbye to family. Us and our friends had all grown quite fond of our best star friends – Carlos, Irving, and Franco and we were all were sad to say goodbye. We all had a very special and memorable stay and would return again for so many reasons, but mostly because of all of these wonderful people and the experience they provide. Can’t wait to return!…
First off, the view is phenomenal! From the moment you step in the door you are welcomed and pampered and the ocean is staring you in face at all times. There is not one complaint I can give about this resort. We stayed mostly at the adult section and did not feel like we were missing out on a thing! Food and drinks on the beach was our favorite. We did go to the Italian, steak house, Mexican and the hibachi grill. All were good. As far as entertainment and beach staff - everyone was amazing, but a big shout out to Alexi, Franco and Fernanda keeping us busy with fun games and activities. Thank you to Rosa and the others for keeping our drinks flowing! A vacation to remember, and we will return!
