The online reviews were great. The location, just south of Cancun International was perfect for a fort getaway. Description of the resort, and it’s Serenity Club promised an incomparable experience. We arrived at noon on November 10 and were promptlly met and ushered into a private check in area. Our room was not ready as expected but we were told at most 90 minutes. What followed was a quick tour by our butler of the property where he dropped us off to have lunch. It was the first and only time we saw him. The Good: clean, well appointed rooms, nice grounds and pools, prompt maintenance, what there was of staff were friendly and helpful. The Rest: Food was brought out to buffet cold and immediately served, heater under pan got the remnants warm. Restaurants: Fish restaurant featured mussels, scallops, clams; all arrived at table still partially frozen. Why they insisted on featuring non native fish is beyond me! Fresh local fish was fine. Mexican and Steak restaurant okay, but to get steak it was $50 a plate. Teppanyaki restaurant had one chef for three tables in a line so 12 people watched 6 eat at a time. We had a reservation there at 7PM only to be told that our meal would be at 7:45 because a reservation only guaranteed a hibachi seat! Bars and buffets were out of stuff at the beginning of every day, no real premium alcohol anywhere. Restaurants and lounge for Serenity Club were closed 3 out of 4 days; workers said because of rain chances, agents said due to low occupancy, irritating since we paid extra for it. Construction on north end of a conference center distraction. Beach, though protected by a boom, had brown water. Room had problems with TV and AC but maintenance quickly corrected All in all this is an average resort in a nice coat. Unless they can fix their issues not worth going to, many better choices. With that said if the deal was right I would give them another look; promise there and The online reviews were great. The location, just south of Cancun International was perfect for a fort getaway. My sister and I went for just a quick 5 night R & R kind of vacation and this resort was perfect. This resort is pretty relaxed and laid back which we enjoy but not everyone heading to Cancun wants that so if you are looking for a party resort this is not it. Other side note its very much a honeymoon kind of resort so unless you are travelling in a group I would not recommend it for a solo traveller because even my sister and I felt a bit out of place. The resort itself is beautiful, very modern and high end. All the staff are amazing and overall it has great food and 2 awesome pools. It has a more natural beach with some trees and bushes which some people complained about. The only unfortunate part of the beach is the ocean which was still full of seaweed over growth so you could not go in. I tried on a day where is seemed to be less brown but the sulphur smell is unbearable but I still hung out and read a book in a hammock on the beach. They do have some special upgraded package that allows you more exclusive access to the rooms with individual pools, fancier alcohol, a special lounge and maybe 1 random restaurant but it is a total rip off and not worth it in my opinion unless you are extremely particular or maybe on your honey moon and want a private pool. Everyone who had special passes ended up in the regular pools anyhow and said it did not seemed much better other than they got an ocean view room. Lastly I just want to highlight some of the amazing and kind staff member we met. The best pool is the the jacuzzi pool and not the big round pool because its less crowded and because the staff are so much better on that side. Ricardo is a bar tender at the jacuzzi pool and he was awesome and made hands down the best drinks and he has the best laugh! Marilu and Felizitas were these amazing servers who generally work around that pool and were so kind. Gabriel and Laura were a server and hostess we met each more for breakfast and were lovely each time we saw them. Luz was often at the coffee bar and so sweet and lastly Valentina works at the front desk and she was absolutely amazing and always helped you out with a kind smile regardless of the time of day and how many hours she had already been working. Besides the people I mentioned all the staff were extremely nice and friendly. I would also recommend trying out the spa, they have a great hydrotherapy set up but do not get a massage at the beach, the hut is right beside the beach volleyball set up so that takes away from the experience.

Third time in Cancun, first and last time at this hotel. I'm only on day three of my ten day vacation and already I'm compelled to write here on trip advisor. Hotel is clean, well furnished and the staff could not be more helpful, friendly and welcoming. Pools are clean, lots of comfortable sun loungers, towels are good to. Cabanas around the pool and beach are free and again of high quality. The beach is nice but the sea, like many hotels on this stretch is dark brown with decaying plant matter. It washes ashore, smells and makes the sea a no go area. You have to pay your departure tax on arrival, never had that before. What really lets this place down big time is their "Serenity Club". Without this you are viewed as a second class citizen, or worse. A vast majority of the alcoholic drinks behind the bar are not available to you which makes ordering drinks very embarrassing when your repeatably told what you can't have. I enquired about upgrading to club level, just to get the drinks, and the price was enough for another holiday, absolutely unjustifiable. The duty managers apology was pathetic and he clearly could not see the comparison between the price he was asking and what I'd be getting in return. Service in the main building bars is slow, bartenders have no imagination. They can make what you ask for but are stuck if you want something new or local to try. In short, very dissapointed, costs a few pounds to come here from the UK, and to be so let down and undervalued by the management is the last straw. Despite the welcome e-mail, they are not at all interested if you are enjoying your stay as in my experience they will do nothing to rectify it. Won't be back...

We wanted a relaxing week and we got it!! Beautiful resort, every detail was perfection. The pool, the room, the restaurants....top notch. But the very best are the employees, they make the resort "fabulous". I would like to thank the following for making this trip perfect: David, Angel, Giancarlo (bellmen), Jorge (Olios), Eduardo, JC (Round pool), Laura Rojas, Alberto (breakfast and lunch), Leonardo (Haven bar), Rodrigo, Luis....I'm sure I forgot some, but they are what makes the resort top notch! I will return!
