For now stay away. We booked many months in advance. We called several times to make sure the construction was on schedule. Two weeks before our trip they let us know they would not be open and would either move us or refund our money. Too late to change we accepted the alternate lodging. Another dozen calls ans emails later we finally had a reasonable room but not close to the package we had paid for. Marriot is simply not ready so don’t book till they are up ans running smoothly
Rating 3 stars for the solution to the issue, not the resort itself. As a previous reviewer posted, this hotel is currently closed. From what I understand Marriott purchased it and is making major upgrades which weren't completed in time for their planned reopen. We had mid-Feb booked since October as I received an email with an amazing rate offered given its a brand new all inclusive. About 4 weeks before the trip I received an email from Marriott stating it isn't open yet with options to 1)cancel entirely and refund any prepaid (we didn't prepay) or 2) honor the same rate once they open if we travel before Dec 31 2021, or 3) stay for same rate/dates booked at a different all inclusive. They only offered 1 hotel option that I researched and wasn't happy with either the quality of rooms in comparison and that it looks like more party style than a than relaxed vibe for a 40-yr old couple. I just learned today that this hotel is/was purchased by Marriott so makes sense they sent us there. Anyway, I wasn't thrilled with the communication by Marriott on the closure/rebook (an email that almost looked like spam) but I'd rather be redirected than go to a place that isn't ready for me to enjoy. I thought the 3 alternatives were reasonable but would have liked to have a selection of 3 hotels to move to. In this covid world we need to have some understanding of uncertainty and changes, it's not ideal but businesses WANT to be open and are doing all they can with these challenges. Hoping to get to Armar House this fall with my credit and will report back!…
My husband and I booked a trip over spring break to this property, but we were just informed last week that they will not be open that week. They canceled our reservation and said they would rebook us at a different resort which is not a Marriott property. When we were told this, we asked if we were going to be receiving a comparable room since we had originally paid for an upgraded room at the Marriott property. After over a week of trying to get our reservations booked at the new hotel, with little to no help from the hotel staff, we finally found out that the room we will be booked in is nowhere near the quality of room we paid for originally. When trying to call Marriott’s customer service, we were told that they cannot help us, and we would have to talk with someone at the hotel in Cancun. The hotel is not willing to help or assist us in getting a comparable room at this new hotel. We are loyal Marriott customers, but this entire experience has us wanting to switch loyalty to another hotel chain. We have received little to no help trying to rectify this situation even though they are the ones who cancelled our trip. Customer service has been awful, and I would not recommend booking here or any other Marriott property because of it.…
I stayed here for my birthday and was thoroughly disappointed. This can be a really nice hotel but it has poor management, poor decisions and A LOT of missed opportunity to gain loyal customers. First- the hotel representatives try to jip you on the room rate if you book online claiming an hourly exchange rate instead of daily. No one else did this and it was a complete hassle when checking in. The rooms are nice- I stayed in one of the suites with the bathtub on the balcony, ocean view. BEAUTIFUL view and love the double sinks. BUT the lighting sucked, especially when trying to get ready and do makeup. The shower doesn't have enough drains to actually empty the shower and the glass window has a handle and it made it seem like we could open the door to the balcony (there is a second drain just next to the bathtub) but we learned that we couldn't. Basically, even after opening the shower drain all the way there's usually leftover water from our shower the day before. The plumbing is weird- if you flush the toilet you hear the water gurgle in the sink. Ew! We made friends with another couple here who ended up getting trapped in their room on the 9th floor. Maintenance in the hotel came and literally chopped open the door! Now for the entertainment- First- THEY CLOSE THE JACUZZI AT 6PM!! They close the second floor pool at 6PM!! they close one pool bar at 6:30/7PM and they close the second one minutes later. The worst part? THEY CLOSE THE POOL AT 8PM. And I literally mean guys come and KICK YOU OUT OF THE POOL!!!!!!!!! They have a night club in the hotel but there is no DJ... it's preselected music that the bartender selects... boring. There is only 1 pool table and people tend to stay on it for a long time. Might as well wait in line. The spa is nice but don't expect the best deep tissue massage of your life. They offer couples massage and Facial- yea, it's not a facial. It's more like "I am going to rub some crap on your face for the last 5 minutes and wipe it off". If you have actual knots in your body- do not go there expecting the massage therapist to actually pay attention to them. One almost took out my spine. The only thing that kept me at that hotel was the ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES. The one thing they did right is bartend and offered good service for the most part by the pool and restaurants. oh! THERE IS NO PARTIES at the beach or pool. THIS HOTEL IS FALSELY ADVERTISED. POOR PLACEMENT, POOR MANAGEMENT DECISION MAKING, FAULTY CONSTRUCTION IN SOME AREAS. Needless to say, this is probably a good hotel for families and older vacationers who don't want to spend the extra time by the beach/ pool/ partying/ DOING ANYTHING FUN.…
I was there the week last week of February... I had mixed feelings when I arrived because the many reviews I read but let me tell you my time there was GREAT! The room was amazing with an amazing view, very clean and cleaned every day (aside the days I didn't want them to celan). You get a mini fridge with a few snacks (cookies & chips) and 3-4 beers, stocked up every day. Restaurants were delicious, there is a lot of Mexican theme food but HEY "you are in Mexico so..." and I am Mexican as well so for me the food was DELISHUS! Overall staff was so attentive, very helpful, quick and friendly but I got to do a SHOUT OUT to Sergio (Captain) & Andres (waiter at restaurants), they went above and beyond for us!; also shout out to Marbella (waiter at beach), she was the most attentive wait staff at beach. The pools were very clean and I really liked how they have the whole polls/beach areas set up. I love the beach and I spent my whole time by the beach but the cabanas by the pools look amazing and so fun, lots of young people with a great energy and ready to get the part started! Cabanas at the beach are free but I believe cabanas in the pool area have a minimum spend over the weekends, just ask! Overall I had an amazing experience, I do want to come back and I will and 100% recommend this place! Kudos to Melody Maker staff & management!…
Our stay at the resort was absolutely fantastic. The place is extremely clean and the people are just very attentive and polite. The food was actually really good and we absolutely had a blast. We would like to thank Ramsey Pacheco, Carlos Tomas y Marbella for their everyday service at the pool side bar. They were always smiling and always made sure we were taken care. Make you you look for them when you decide to stay there.
Me and my boyfriend stayed at the beginning of our 3 week, first trip to Mexico and absolutely loved this place! Everything was amazing from the room, views, staff, endless buffet and food choices, espresso bar, gym, and of course the beach pool party! We fell in love with this place so much that we booked in again in the final week of our trip before heading home to Australia. I didn’t want to leave and my boyfriend had to practically pull me off the beach to get to the airport! During our visits we stayed in: Deluxe lagoon View Room Ocean view Junior Terrace suite The junior terrace suite was our favourite as we had a beautiful spa and day bed overlooking our views of Cancun beach and ocean as well as the outdoor shower 😍 We wanted to mention especially the following staff members who made it a memorable trip: “Dafna” from concierge who was a legend helping us out with our next hotel bookings and the language barrier 👍🏼 “Ramses” the beach bar bartender who served us endless yummy drinks and LARGE shots ALWAYS with a smile and theatrical bottle trick 👍🏼 He served us both on occasions with great service “Lupe” the chef from the Mexican restaurant who made us 2 DELICIOUS and tasty authentic Mexican burritos during lunch behind the pool. (See pics below👍🏼👍🏼) one of the best burritos I tried whilst in Mexico! “Oscar” the lovely waiter that served us delicious ceviché and Some authentic Mezcal to wash it down at the Mexican restaurant. Lovely guy with good banter! 👍🏼 “Jesus” from receiption who was patient and accomodating with our check ins and outs! It was also nice that he recognised us upon our second arrival and welcomed us accordingly 👍🏼 Couldn’t recommend this hotel enough!! 🍸🇲🇽🏝😊👙 Paolo and Rachel from Australia 🇦🇺…
It was such a pleasure to stay in this beautiful Melody Maker Hotel! -good location for tourists in the heart of city -many facilities and cleanliness -hearthbreathing ocean view from the room -qualified and helpfull staff -professional service in delicious restaurants (especially Mr. Ramiro :) ) Kind Regards
THIS IS NOT A 5 STAR RESORT. The property lay out was great, 5 restaurant only 3 open, no gift shop on the hotel, reception clerk not informative it all, waitress and waiters more busy trying to clean the tables then getting your drinks, food ok, you must pay for better alcohol a premium price, if you go out of the resort to get your own they will make you pay 80% of of the price of the bottle for you to drink in their resort. The worse management services I have ever seen in a mexican resort. Mexicans are known for catering to the tourist especially those (me) who are good tippers, well in this resort it did not matter whom you are. So unless you want to slam you will spend just as much as going to a 5 star resort. Role aways very noizy, not so clean, we had hair in our bath tub. The bedding was very nice and the Djs were the only fun thing about this resort. I purchased my own champagne outside the resort the lady manager wanted to charge me $100 per bottle for me to drink my champagne in her resort, after she made me purchase a $200 dolares bottle of moet that cost me $64.00 dolares out of the resort. Say not more. There is too many other great places out there don't' waste your time on this one. By the away the parties you saw on line, not true. No disco, the only entertainment is a DJ at the Lobby.…
The resort provides a relaxed approach to all-inclusive resorts in Cancun. Lupe's service, without a doubt, is the service high-light of the resort; he gets it, and embodies what I believe Melody Maker is trying to deliver. Excellent job Lupe
