We needed a few nights across from our usual hotel mid December as it was booked. The Mayafair was perfect. We could walk across the street to the beach and the restaurant at the Mayafair was excellent. We were given coupons each meal with a discount which was ideal. The food was delicious and gourmet. Our waiters were so accommodating each meal and very personable. Breakfast was a gorgeous buffet with different items each morning. The rooms are huge and comfortable, but alittle weird on artwork but it is done to look like famous designers created the wall art. Otherwise it was a great value for very little money and so close to shops, the Chedraui grocery store, beach, and bus lines. Raquel was my first contact and she was so nice and spoke great english and helpful. All the workers were well trained and so pleasant. Our 2nd stay there.

The showerhead was broken, the fridge didn't cool down. The in-unit AC broke down. The jacuzzi at the hotel didn't work. I didn't request room service and when I ran out of toilet paper I was told to wait for the next room service, I had to use paper tissue. The wifi signal was too weak so there was pretty much no wifi. The sink at the bathroom had rust.

We found the Mayafair hotel on Booking.com and read the reviews on Tripadvisor when we were looking for a hotel in Cancun. We were comming from Playa Del Carmen were we had a magnificent stay, and as our flight was from Cancun we decided to stay our last days there. We were travelling by car through Mexico so we just drove up to the hotel.

We asked details abut the rooms at the front desk and viewed a room. The rooms are named after designers, models, ... peaople who have been invloved in the fashion industry. This is a nice touch. We saw the Balenciaga room, which was nice. We went back to the recption and said the room was ok but that we prefered a room with a window. The recptionist said that there was a guest checking out of the Cindy Crawford room which had a window and we could reserve that room.We filled out all forms & made all payments. Although it was 12 a clock the guest was still in his room, and we said we would go off to do some sight seeing and come back in the evening.

When we returned in the evening there was another recptionist at the front desk and she said there was a problem with our reservation. The person who stayed in the room still had not checked out and was missing... Strange situation. She took us to another room, which was pretty dissapointing. The room did not seem to be used. It did not have a name such as the other suites, the seating was torn, there was no refrigerator, theere was water running from the toilet on the tiles, broken tiles in the shower. When we were on buget travelling this room would have been verry well, but for the price we paid (not budget at all) and compared to the room we previously saw it was clear that something was off. We told the receptionist that this was not what we bargained for, and asked her if she could just give us the Balenciaga room we saw previously if the Crawford room was not available. But that room was allread occupied, together with all the other suites, so this was the only thing she had left... We told her what we had pain was too much for this room, and I actually thin she agreed.

She called her manager and they offered us to stay in that room for one night, put us in another room next day and give us an additional night for free. However, we could only spend there 2 nights as we had our flight to catch afterwards so we could not accept the offer. They did not offer to let us pay for 1 nght and give us 1 for free, but insisted we spend one night in the reserve room and one night in one of the suites. We agreed, but still pointed out that we had paid too much if we needed to stay in that room for the night and that there needed to be some kind off compenstation.

We really aren't that difficult people, and we have stayed at far worser hotels and hostels but we thought the situation we were put in just was not fair. After all if check out time was 12 and the man had not checked out by 15 a bell must have rang and they must have anticipated that there could be a potential problem, keeping an extra room free for us. Or cleaning out the man his room, and prgramming another lockcard for the door so it could be used by us. They new we were comming so they could have thought of a better solution or compenstation.

The manager came down and we discussed a solution. At this time we were so tired, and we still did not have eaten so we finally give up. The deal was that they would give us a discount on the first night (first 100 pesos, after some discussion 300 pessos) and the next day they would put us in another room with a jucuzzi and everything we wanted. They also offered us a botlle of free wine (to drink away our problems?!), but we do not drink wine so did not accept it.

The next day our stuff was taken to the Loius Vuitton suite. This was a nice room, with a window, and a jucuzzi... which offcourse didn't work...

Overall the rooms look nice, but if you stay in them you find that is kind of 'bricollage' and there are some flaws. The concept is good, and it could have potential but they need to be consistent. It seems the owners have taken over an old hotel (as you can see in the lobby and the halls, where modern style clashes with acient maya style) and trying to modernize it. Some rooms still need to be redecorated, and are covered up with big pannels about fashion (the one we stayed in for one night for instance).

There is no breakfast or dining included or available, rooms come with tv/AC, some rooms have a refrigerator/window others not, wifi worked, do not expect a lott of storage room, parking was inlcuded. Rooms are all open (bed, table, chair, bathroom all in one aria).
The hotel does not have acces to the beach, you do get a discount at a beach club but we did not find it, and the public beach wasn't really charming. Next time, I will go somewhere else, so I can at least enjoy the beach while I'm in Cancun.

This hotel would be nice in a city but does not really fit in Cancun. However if the staff puts in a little more effort it could have potential. However, they won't see us back!

We apologize for your experience while at our Resort. At the time of your stay we were doing the conversion from a shopping center into a luxury hotel, and while we tried not to be noticed, obviously we did not do a good job at it. We kindly request that you give us another opportunity to serve you as we strive for perfection and we are pretty sure that this time you will be satisfied.

No hot water for our 2 night stay. The water pressure is like a leak from the shower, better to jump on the sprinkler out the front. The hotel has the atmosphere of a wet mop. Obviously they’ve turned a failed business into a money grab but painting the walls white and putting up some cheap pictures. How about you focus on hot water, water pressure, comfortable beds, fresh air and decent service. Don’t waste your money here, when there are hundreds of other options so close.

We booked online and it looked fine. On arrival in Can Cun Mexico,we checked into Mayafair hotel but the rooms smelled heavily of mould and mildew. The rooms had no windows or ventilation. My daughter is very allergic to mould.

Although they were friendly they were unable to supply a room with ventilation or a window. None if the rooms have windows and tge bathroom is in the room so when you shower water and moisture goes everywhere. Minutes after arrival my daughters allergic reaction began and her eyes and nose were running and she had started coughing. She struggled to breathe.

It was impossible to stay there under the circumstances. I had to leave her there while I ran to the hotels across the road trying to find urgent alternative accommodation. I managed to get us checked in to the Rui hotel and the staff at the Mayafair hotel helped my carry our luggage across the road to the Rui hotel.

I would like my money I paid refunded!!

However ....The hotel does not refund. It does not answer calls and ignores us and the booking site agent. It's not acceptable!!!

Booking should remove this hotel from its listing, as it makes this platform look bad. We felt like victims since when we arrived the room had a musty smell, fungus in the bathroom. We asked for a refund but it was negative. Nightmare..

I'll really give my rating based on what I needed from the hotel. I sought this option because I wanted a hotel only accommodation that would be in a convenient area. I thought it was a great choice because nearby there were many pharmacies and convenience centers like Oxxo and Circle K as well as important points like Cocobongo and Playa Forum. Very friendly staff at the front desk and always respected when not wanting the room cleaned. Yes I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for a place just to stay, if you are looking for something different I do recommend looking for another option.

The room was really dirty. The sheets were completely covered in stains, the shower did not have a curtain (so the bathroom was flooded), there were no windows and the walls were made of papier-mâché. The hotel looked like it was under construction. The temperature on the second floor was unbearable due to the lack of air conditioning. The staff was very kind and the location was not bad, but the hygiene leaves no room for any other rating than 1 star.

Everything is a nightmare there. We made a bunch of reservations for a couple rooms in Nov, got the confirmation letter yet they said they didn't have that in their system. Luckily the email address has the hotel name so there is no way for them to deny it. They ended up arranged rooms for us but the standard was far from what we originally requested. Also, it seems that it's a one-man hotel. The staff weren't able to make any decisions whatsoever and the manager was very RUDE, even trying to kick us out without giving any apology. It took rounds of argument with him to let him put us somewhere else. Yet we had to come back to the hotel for shower because the arranged place wasn't truly in living condition and had no hot water. It's a total rip-off and by no means I will recommend people staying there.

We very much apologize for the difficult situation that you endureded during the week that Cancun was overbooked. We had to put you in a beach villa that ended also with the heater broken. The sudden economic recovery with the high demand caught our reservation agents completely unprepared and we could not found a better solution for you.

Reservation was from 12/6/18-12/9/18

Checked in on 12/6/18 went to have lunch and one of the hotel employees went into my room and stole my passport and money from my suitcase. I was gone 1 hour went to front desk and reported it when I found out police came and I filed a police report and went down to the local police dept. To file a demanda against the hotel. 12/7/18 once they were told I had done that they had the balls to break into the room again and return my passport and all my money!!! Went back down and demanded to speak to management and the front desk would give an excuse as to why the manager can't or won't be reached. Left 1 day early after they broke back in to return what they stole from me. front desk had no response and told me that since I had "FOUND" my things I should just drop the matter. No,this place is full of thieves and to top it off they're idiots because they can't even steal without having to return the items!!! They have cameras and it totally feels that security and the front desk are all involved and know that if you push for the video they will have to return your items.
