I stayed at the Westin Lagunamar for the first time in September 2021. Most of the resort activities were either canceled or extremely limited so I didn't have the full experience of this amazing resort. So, when it was time to begin another solo trip, outside of the couple of timeshare weeks I own at a different resort, I quickly booked here again. The resort is located across the street from La Isla mall which has great shopping and restaurants. My 5-day stay was very relaxing due to the heated pools, water aerobics, various activities and beautiful beach. Due to a knee replacement, I requested a building that was close to the lobby and they didn't disappoint as they reserved an ADA room in the building next door. It made it much easier to get to water aerobics and the outdoor restaurant without having to use my cane or walker. The very attentive staff (especially front desk team Gustavo and Yamei) remembered my name and would often ask me if there was anything I wanted or needed during my stay. They didn't ask me to schedule a timeshare presentation and I still received a Westin pool bag. As always, I enjoyed having a cook top, small fridge and microwave so that I would not spend too much on eating out. When it came to activities - Javier and Alexandro were great water aerobics instructors as well as keeping us challenged with music trivia, uno and more. I met people from all over the world and felt completely safe on my first international solo trip - so, it will not be my last. Pros: Clean resort; great variety of activities; good views from building 4; proximity to shopping mall and restaurants; wonderful staff; and how amazingly quiet it is based on resort's location on the strip. Also appreciated the staff holding my suitcase as well as items in both the refrigerator and freezer while I waited until check-in at my next resort for the following week Cons: while my gold Bonvoy membership does not apply for this vacation resort, they acknowledged me as a member and thanked me for choosing the resort. Since all of the rooms/villas are the same, you don't need an upgrade to enjoy all of the amenities. Travel tip: if you really want to enjoy the beach, consider traveling in the fall because the seaweed (I believe they call it sargassum) is weird and smells funny. However, there was plenty to do in both of the pools and the water slide was a nice touch.…
I can not fault this place, it is just very big. We had come from a small, boutique hotel in Tulum and stayed in Cancun just one night to be near the airport. The rooms was very good, and with laundry facilities which was a huge help at the time given we had been away for 2 weeks, and still had a while to go. The rooms was a good size, with a kitchen, and a good sized bathroom. The pool area is really good, and the pool is huge and with a swim-up bar, which was cool. The food was fine. Not amazing, not awful. The beach a this resort is really very nice. Like I say, I can not fault it, it would be great for a family, or if you didn't;t want to have to leave the resort.
Outstanding employees and service. From waitstaff to management. Room service is exceptional and fast. Happy hours everyday. Daily schedule, nice gym, grocery on site. Kitchens are updated but do not have ovens. However they are fully equipped. Things to note. No salt/ pepper or any condiments. Includes coffee and accessories. Also they have a washer & dryer in each unit with soap. Nice shopping mall across the street. A few restaurants with in walking distance off property if u need more variety than they have. I love to snorkel and this area is not the best for that, like the area around the marinas. But Isla Mejeres is just a boat shuttle away and u can snorkel all day there.
Love this resort and the location. The staff is very friendly, especially the fun team. Best water aerobic classes ever!! Beautiful room with a view that’s to die for. A little small for a studio, you can only really fit a couple in their comfortably.
We loved this resort, we feel welcomed and all the staff is so friendly. big shout out to Jonathan for all those yummy drinks at the pool bar. Great location across La Isla Mall, take the local bus to get groceries or to get down the Hotel Zone. We like the location. We found taking the taxi service was shady, they would quote one price and ask for another at time to pay, so take the bus instead. The staff are very knowlegable and super helpful if you want to book a tour. We suggest taking a day and exploring Isla Mujeres. Claudia at the concierge will help you with any questions you may have. The market had all you need if you run out of groceries, very good prices
We absolutely love this resort. The best infinity pool and beach. Excellent service too. Everyone is so genuinely friendly. We felt so welcome and pampered. We had not trouble getting a beach palapa and even found shade by the pool in the afternoon. Our concierge Keneshia was great and made us excellent reservations for meals and excursions. Our one bedroom unit was amazing. The only slight issue was poor wifi in a couple of our days. The food at all the restaurants was excellent and happy hours were great. Steak night was the best. Highly recommend!!!
The Westin is a huge complex, very much American-style (and in fact I only came across Americans at the entire hotel). The service is great, and the service staff were always super friendly. The hotel has some huge pool areas - they are enormous - so great for children. Saying that, the demographic was definitely on the older side... The beach is nice, and the water is stunning. We had an ocean front room, with great views. The rooms are oddly equipped as apartments, with both washing machines, dishwashers and glassware etc. Three or four different types of glasses to choose form but no minibar? I found that very odd... All in all, a nice and friendly hotel, but definitely not for single couples under 50.
From the moment we arrived, we felt at home. Check-in was efficient. I do wish they reminded you of the way they code the room number. We were on the 4th floor and it took us a minute. Luis in the Duna sports bar took care of us for dinner. Their pasta was super yummy & service was great. We had a 1 bedroom studio. The floor was a little sandy - I get that it's hard to get rid of that, but I did have a dirty feet feeling. The appliances are great. We didn't have very hot water in the shower - I should have asked. My wife enjoyed her baths in the large spa tub. Towels and bedding are wonderfully plush. Things I don't like - the bathrooms are really far from the pool - it's really annoying considering there's a pool bar. The in-room washer/dryer - appreciate them, but they're really loud and you can hear your neighbor's. Pool towel cards - we didn't get them at check-in & were not sure what was supposed to happen. Things we love - the service at the pool bar is great. Activities offerings are increasing. Our spa services were excellent - facial for me, manicure for my wife. The concierges are wonderful, making reservations and suggestions was incredibly helpful. Breakfast at the buffet (Oceano?) was pretty good - unlimited mimosas & bloody Mary's. It's a good deal. So mad we didn't get the pizza at Viento's - it's yummy, but next trip!!…
Rooms are similar to a condo setting with kitchen, and laundry. Views are exceptional- architect, brilliantly designed building to maximize sea view. PROS- if room is renovated you are in a 5 STARS resort, Mall across the street, walkable area (but crossing the street is only for the brave, and those with good running skills), Restaurants for every taste abound in area. On property food, like burgers are pricey. Twenty (20) minutes to airport is a huge plus. Beach has some of the cleanest water I've seen (tides are rough though). Infinity pool is surreal CONS- property is geared towards time share owners, and there is a distinction between bonvoy elites and owners- you will be offered discounts on room or tourist attractions to listen to THE TALK (90 minutes). Not a lot of eating choices on the property, and what's there may be considered pricey. Overall, beautiful property with a Mayan ruin on site.…
