I have stayed at various Veracruz hotels ( there are many!) since my first visit in 1993. Veracruz Centro Historico is one of the best overall. Rooms and bathrooms are comfortable and clean. A balcony above the main square adds to the charm, so request one on the 5th or 6th floor. Hallway floors are so gleaming that I took...

There are two historic hotels in the "heart" of Veracruz: Las Diligencias & Hotel Veracruz. Initially, I had booked my stay with Diligencias but then cancelled due to a change in plans. I tried to reschedule but all of the hotels were booked due to the carnival that happens every year around Feb/March. The staff at Hotel Veracruz went out...

The hotel is super clean, rooms are spacious, beds comfortable. Beautiful pool and nice restaurant, though we only found it open for breakfast. There is a Sanborns downstairs which I think is wonderful for their book section and restaurant. We were there for Carnaval, and enjoyed watching the parade going by in front of and below our room. The location...

Went to Veracruz during Carnaval!! Lucked out and got a room right off the main square so we were able to hear the great music that was played every night and we were able to watch the parades as they went by right in front of us. Close to MANY points of interest and sidewalk cafes. Good internet, comfortable beds...

Hotel is within easy walking access to all the historic sites and plenty of good restaurants for every budget. I had a standard room facing the zocalo and cathedral. Excellent for picture taking. Location is great, staff excellent, but the hotel rooms are very tired. Everything works...just real tired. It's good for a night and that's what I did then moved on. Numerous decent restaurants on the plaza.

The hotel is right there on the Zocolo and many very good sidewalk cafes are within 200 feet. The walk around the port starte about 500 feet from the hotel. Shopping and eating and drug stores, fast food, laundry, are very near.

How is this hotel different from others surrounding the main square of Veracruz?
