Don't even know where to start! The place is very cozy, you feel like you are home. Paty and Blanqui were very helpful and extremely nice. Breakfast is a delight, so carefully prepared. I stayed in a 'suite' to have enough space for me and my dogs and we cannot complain about anything! They were treated nice and were allowed to be with me in any area of the house. There is an extra charge for cleaning, so confirm when booking. When I got back at night, they had baked me cookies and turned the fire place on it would be ready when I got there. It definitely come back!
Had to awake late to let in a guest beacuse there's no one on duty late. My key got stuck in the door after letting the guest in and we had to leave it there. There's no one there early (before 8 am) either. Internet is slow in the rooms. There were hot water issues. Things just don't work as they should at this place. I left early and paid for the extra night – of course, there was no offer to make things right.
It's located about a 10-15 minute walk from downtown and the the house is beautiful. The rooms are super clean and very authentic, the breakfast is so delicious and fresh. I was amazed with the whole package, the person who helped run the house was sweet and very helpful with any questions I had. Could not ask for a better place to stay.
The B & B is very cozy and comfortable, staff & owner extremely helpful, they had a large steam iron so we could iron a very wrinkled suit for a wedding. The breakfast is so good. Due to we where attending a party in another hotel nearby we choose this accommodation and experienced a nice surprise. Certainly it´s off-downtown but it´s not bad to walk there (15 mins). The only thing I would ask the owner to improve, is the room temperature somehow, it was cold (although that did not perturb our sleep due to a very thick blanket), in part I think because the shower wood windows were not fully sealed to the exterior.
Beautiful b&b. gorgeous interior, clean and wonderfully presented. Cleaned daily and towels replaced. Breakfast diverse delicious and fresh. Staff had info and knowledge on local sights. Location was peaceful.
We stayed here for three nights as part of our honeymoon tour around Mexico. The house is beautifully decorated with a stone fireplace you can enjoy in the evenings. The owner is very friendly and offers fun tips for things to do in San Cristobal. She kindly let us check-out late on our last day as we were taking the night bus to Oaxaca. Breakfasts are fantastic - fruit, yogurt, granola, good coffee, pancakes, eggs and bread. They were different every day. The B&B is a short walk into town (about 10 minutes) but the streets are beautiful and feel very safe so we enjoyed the walk. The only drawback was that the shower was a bit temperamental but everything else was so comfortable that it didn't really matter. We loved our room and were sad to leave. A great home-from-home in San Cristobal.…
The b & b is a little bit off-center (15 min walk from the center) and not very well known by taxi drivers. The atmosphere is nice and friendly, and so was the girl at the frontdesk (Marion), but rooms do have big limits: there's no heating and the windows have many drafts ... so it is freezing in winter nights. Moreover, in order to keep in line with a spirit of familiarity, rooms cannot be locked, and therefore anyone could easily access them, which makes them unsafe to leave money and documents.
This bed and breakfast is operated by Ana, a young hotelier from Mexico City, who named the establishment for Roberta Montagu, an American anthropologist who once lived in San Cristóbal de las Casas and who owned the land upon which the building is situated. Be prepared for the cold nights, since you will be at over 2K meters. The common areas of the home are warm and friendly, and a good place to meet other travelers. The breakfast is healthy and will appeal to long-term travelers. The building is a 10-15 minute walk from the crowded central part of San Cristóbal, where all the landmark sites and popular restaurants and cafes are located. It is a three minute walk from a small museum of the Maya, Na Bolom Cultural Center. The building has gardens around it and is behind an adobe wall.…
The B&B is really (really) good! It's located in a big house with a shared living/dining room with a fire place. The rooms with a private bathroom are located on the first floor and the shared rooms are located upstairs. The service is great, they also make you a homemade breakfast each morning. The rooms are extremely clean and comfortable and the wifi works great! Ana the hostes is really nice and helpful and speak perfect English! The did charge us 20 peso for a cup of tea we asked late at night, this is obviously nothing in terms of money but a bit annoying. Now for the location - the place is located off the center of San Cristobal , so if you don't mind the extra 15/20 min walk (onto a hill) to the center each time it's perfect.
There are some good things about this place and some things that are a disgrace. I'll start with the positives. The grounds and the house itself is lovely. The host, Ana, is very sweet and helpful. Good wifi access and hot water (albeit this wasn't the case at first but this was clearly due to external works in the street so the benefit of the doubt is being given here). The bed was the most comfortable of our travels so far. Now for he cons: the window did not shut due to the wood warping. It is cold in the mountains so it wasn't warm in the night. I'm not one to feel the cold but it really was chilly. The furniture was home made out of crates, this worked fine for the bed base (effectively the same as slats) but it does not for a bedside table as stuff falls through the spaces. This is form over function which is pet hate of mine. But none of this compares to the following which is terrible: the door to our room had a lock which we religiously locked when leaving as the room had no safety deposit box. We are travelling for 10 months so the loss of our passports (as well as other important items) would have been devastating. There were workman and random photographers there during our stay but despite these strangers having free access of the house our room was consistently left unlocked by the cleaning staff. I have NEVER experienced that before, it is unbelievable breach of security. We were also charged 750/night which as the website states is for a private bathroom but we had to share the bathroom with the owners which was across in the corridor. We should have been charged 550 for the shared bathroom. The place is also a little out of town. The main Street is a good 20 minute walk from the hotel which being in the mountains is hilly.…
