I would absolutely recommend this hostel for single travelers or couples. It is quiet, chill and very close to the market and one of the most lovely pedestrian only streets. The folks who run it are kind and accommodating and the breakfast as well as the rooftop are lovely. We stayed in a private room and found the sheets clean... More

The hostel is small but very pretty, chill and comfortable, the staff is super nice and helpful. It's just a fantastic place to stay, completely recommend it. It is located near the Central Plaza (a 5-min walk) and they also offer nice tours to the main natural attractions in Chiapas like "Lagos de Montebello, Cascadas del Chiflón, El Cañón del... More

Quite and small hostel just 1 block away from the busy walking central street. Lockers are big enough for bigger backpack. Breakfast is freshly cooked every day and changes every day. Pancakes were delicious. It is not a party hostel, but you'll meet great people with who you can go and party at bars in San Cristobal. There is shared... More

This was a cute basic little hostel that had a homey feeling. Our host Angel is a friendly and relaxed guy and we enjoyed talking with him and his friends. It actually looks different from the picture as the stairs have been colourfully painted and there are pretty pot plants everywhere. We stayed in the comfortable and big private room... More

The owner Angel is a realy helpfull and friendly person and he makes a good breakfast. The hostel is realy good located and you have almost anything what you need there. The only disadvantage are the beds, we both had realy bad mattresses in the 4-bed-dorm, the mattresses in the private room were better. The shared bathrooms could be a... More

I stayed here four nights on my way to and from Oaxaca. I have stayed here in past years. Angel is the new owner and it's still the best ever hostel. It's a comfortable homey atmosphere with a great cooked (!) breakfast, friendly service, and an excellent location, just a couple blocks from both major markets. There are beautiful murals on... I found hostal akumal online and was bummed they were fully booked but was looking forward to seeing it so I thought I would drop in while I was in San Cristobal and I am so happy I did. I was warmly greeted by Angel who was happy to give me a tour of the beautiful property--it's such a sweet... More

I stayed there with two friends and we liked it not. The location is good and the hostel is clean and cozy so it feels like you're in your own living room. Breakfast was included (a very good one!) and we were cooking a lot too. Also the owner was cool and helpful. We took the night bus so he... More

We stayed in the upstairs private room for three nights and it was wonderful. The room is huge, you have quick access to the patio, the light and fresh air in the room makes it even better. The wifi is very fast. It's close to the down town and a block from one of the big churches. We really appreciated... More

I really loved staying at Akumal! It's a rather small hostel, very cozy and friendly. I stayed three nights and it felt like coming home everyday after a long, exhausting day :-) Akumal is not your typical impersonal hostel. Manuela will remember your name and chat with you often. She goes out of her way to make your stay as... More
