Had an amazing stay here, fantastic location quiet but still in the Center of oaxaca. Rooms clean and spacious, friendly staff who went beyond to ensure a great stay, nothing was too much for them. Hotel very clean and beautifully decorated. Breakfast was ok. I’ve already booked my stay for the day of the dead.

This 5-room inn is on Ruffino Tomayo which is a lovely, quiet cobblestone street, out of the hubbub but within a 5-10 minute walk from the action of Oaxaca. And there are restaurants, bars and shops a block away. There is a large open courtyard, after entering the main door, where a scrumptious breakfast is served each morning, including some self-serve items (e.g., cereals, fruit, yogurt, toast) and a yummy cooked entree which changes each day. I can not say enough about the friendly, helpful, sweet service and, if you have a problem, you can be sure it will be addressed immediately. This next bit of information is key - make sure you ask for the room upstairs that is closest to the street. It is the only one with a real window to the outside and one of the few (maybe only) rooms with a wall-mounted air conditioner. This is good value for the dinero but be aware that you will not find a t.v. in the room or consistently functioning wifi. Rooms are spacious, bathrooms and showers are nice (including good water pressure and hot water). There is a nice roof deck with chairs for hanging out in the sun or just relaxing.

We stayed 7 nights in this small hotel and mostly enjoyed it. Nice breakfast with a different traditional hot offering everyday in addition to yoghurt, fruit, cereal. It was very quiet with bursts of noise (the doorbell, the barking dog next door, people who were loud in the courtyard). I'd say it's more like 10+ minutes walk to Santo Domingo and 20 to the Zocalo. Taxis are very cheap if you don't feel like walking. It was super clean, and we got soft blankets after we asked. My tummy was upset one day and they made chamomile tea and a little fruit salad for me, which they did not charge me for. But if you use the big bottle of water provided, they will definately charge you. When I asked about paying for the salad and for water they said no charge, but at 5 in the morning as we were getting in our taxi for the airport they changed their mind. A small point, but not a nice way to say goodbye after a week there.

Oaxaca is one of my favorite cities and Casa Carlota is the perfect combination between personalized service and Mexican culture. It is a 5 room boutique hotel only 10 minutes away from Oaxaca downtown, Adan and the owner are a gem and very kind people they assist us with every detail including a romantic breakfast at the terrace! Congratulations! If you are planning to visit Oaxaca don't think it twice Casa Carlota is the best decision

My wife and I have just returned from 3 days at this hotel. It's an easy 5 minute walk from the centre of Oaxaca. The staff were very friendly. Breakfast was very good. There is a terrace on the roof which gives good views of the mountains. The rooms are small but very comfortable. The neighbours dogs will wake you up in the morning. For some odd reason the hotel doesn't give you a key to the front door. There is a bell to ring. Unfortunately this bell is loud enough to wake the entire hotel. I was twice woken up at midnight when other guests returned. I would suggest they look at changing that.
