The team at El Diablo y la Sandia were really easy to communicate with when making our booking over email and were happy to make adjustments to our reservation when our plans had to change. The hotel itself was just what we wanted - a spacious room with a huge bed, lovely traditional decorations and tasty, simple communal breakfasts where we got to meet fellow holiday-makers and share tips and ideas for things to do in the city. It's also well located - a just few minutes walk into the busier streets of the city centre and we felt completely safe walking back there in the dark.

We stayed at both locations (because we booked last minute and they had to split us between the two, which was actually nice!). They are both great, though I'm partial to the larger Boca Del Monte location because it's got more open space and plants. It's tucked into a little street that's nice and quiet but very walkable to everything we wanted to do. Both locations have a lovely helpful staff and very welcoming feel, and the breakfast is amazing. They served a tamale at breakfast one day that I'm still thinking about... The owners are really nice and have travelled all over, and they seem to really understand what travelers need! Would love to stay here again.

This is a house turn hotel, with breakfast served at a central patio, where you join other guests, food delicious, the rooms are simple but with great taste, and the staff is very loving, you could say you are at home, not hotel.

I stayed in Oaxaca just after the new year. We had a great stay - a great location a nice walk to the town square and other surrounding attractions. Breakfast in the morning was great - sitting with other travelers was a great way to start the day. Room was perfect - spacious, safe and well kept. Service was great - just one note - if you arrive late at night make sure you notify them to make sure someone is there. Great restaurants in the area for dinner. Staff was friendly and accommodating and helped us arrange a few tours and transportation.

if you can stay here, you should. either location is great, Libres closer to the center of town, the other in its own funky (uphill) neighborhood. These people obviously know what they're doing. Recommend.
