We stayed at Hotel Casona this past week. Although nervous about the teacher strike, it was fine. The only hiccup was we had to fly in and out to OAX rather than take a bus. The hotel is beautiful. It features a central dining and relaxing area that is covered by a retractable glass roof--very cool! We asked to stay... More

I just came back from Oaxaca last week - Nothing to worry (Teacher's strike) as always Oaxaca is beautiful, not a lot of tourists though. We've been here before and tourism went down like 80%. This is the first time @ Casona Oaxaca and we (family of 5) enjoyed it a lot! Our room was spacious, had 3 double beds... More

It is a small hotel not in the most upscale part of the town but provided clean and spacious rooms and excellent service. It is very close to the Zocalo and the Santo Domingo Cultural Center is within walking distance. A nice Mexican breakfast was also available in the charming courtyard and you can order eggs the way you like... More

At $40 or so per night, it's hard to really complain. Overall, we were definitely happy given what we'd paid, although if we came back, we'd probably opt to pay a bit more and stay somewhere a little nicer. First of all, I'd assumed being by the Zocalo made this a central location. It is... kind of. The Zocalo area... More

Incorrectly posted street address makes it hard to find. Daily street bazaar in front of our hotel window was carnival-noisy until early AM. "Hot" water was at best lukewarm, shower drain backed up daily, AC remote worked only sometime, and toilet ran continuously. Hotel was unable or unwilling to effect repairs or move us to another room. Better to book... More

The hotel is located one block west of the Zócalo, so it is within a short walking distance of almost all tourist attractions in the historic district of Oaxaca. It is a basic hotel, offering a decent-sized room, comfortable bed, in-room wi-fi and buffet-style breakfast at a good price. Laundry service, tours and bicycle rentals are available through the front... More

A great location to discover this amazing city. We stayed 5 nights in Oaxaca in an upstairs room with a balcony (really just a railing outside the doors). We had read a few things about the hotel. Many things have changed by the sounds of it. Our room was air conditioned - although the days and nights are perfect in... More

A hotel in an rather old building, but with decent rooms and good WiFi connection. Only five minutes away from the city centre on foot. Friendly and helpful staff. A nice range of day trips (Santours) are presented at the information desk and are worthwhile. These need to be paid cash or you can go to the office of Santours... More

So, my sisters and I visited Oaxaca for the first time, in late February, and we not only fell in love with the city, but also with this cute hotel. For the price it exceeded our expectations, the hotel had done some renovations and added air conditioning weeks prior to our stay, that was a major plus! The front desk... More

Hotel Casona is newly refurbished; hotel rooms are large and ceilings high. Breakfast buffet has usual cereal and yoghurt plus three Mexican specialties including eggs, in chafing dishes. Breakfast served in central patio surrounded by arched walls in real Mexican fashion. Patio available all day long. Pros: proximity to zocalo...a short block away. Spent at least a few hours in...
