We spent four nights here, and hated to move into our nonrefundable Airbnb! I would have been happy to stay here for a week. The pool area was lovely, with seating in both sun and shade and a pool bar and barista who would make you anything you wanted. The pool itself was pleasantly cool after days of walking around in the heat. Our room was on the third floor, with a terrace overlooking the pool and another on the sun side (not private, but there wasn't anyone else ever using it). We had a fridge in our room, nice strong AC, a very good shower and a comfy bed. Because the rooms are at the back, it was very quiet. We loved the hotel, with its pretty dining area. Each day, they used different tablecloths over the white ones, which was lovely, and there was a big umbrella for late breakfasts to protect us from the sun in the dining courtyard. We found all the help friendly and professional. The location is excellent, an easy walk to the market, Zocalo and tourist streets with shops and galleries. There were lots of restaurants nearby. I would absolutely stay here again, and for longer!…
I was in Oaxaca recently for two weeks and stayed at three different hotels. I spent five nights here and I loved it. I stayed in a master suite on the second floor and it was huge. Breakfast is not included but the prices are good and the food is delicious. All of the employees I talked with were friendly and helpful. The location can’t be beat. My room looked out onto the street, but was remarkably quiet - probably because the doors and windows were double paned and could not be opened. Pool area was pleasant and comfortable - I spent quite a bit of time lounging by the pool. I would definitely return.
This hotel is close to everything you want to visit while in the city center. It’s closer to the Zocalo end of the city. Which is conveniently near all the indoor markets. When we arrived, our room was not yet ready. We were offered to wait by the pool. The attendant made us cocktails. It was my first time having a Mezcalina and it was out of this world (and this is coming from someone who does not like Mezcal)! Everyone who work there was happy to help with whatever services we asked about. Mostly everyone spoke English.
We were excited to give this boutique hotel business after speaking with the owner and learning they'd modernized the rooms just as tourism came to a halt during the pandemic. On our last of four nights, however, the a/c broke. It went from a slow rumble to a roaring thunder. I could not turn it off manually. The remote control stopped working. The night crew was no help. On top of keeping us awake, in the morning I discovered the unit had spilled a pool of water on the floor that damaged our luggage. Upon reporting these problems to the morning crew, the reception provided no apology, no compensation. They simply asked if the a/c had been that way all four nights. As we were leaving, the reception host came running after us to ask if we'd taken their corkscrew opener. We did not, but this rudeness sealed the deal... would-be visitors would be warned. I really hate to leave a bad review as we'd enjoyed our stay for the most part before this incident. That's why I'm giving them 2 stars.…
My husband and I spent five nights in a junior suite on the second floor this last week. The property is immaculate, well-maintained and secure. It's tastefully decorated and our room was ready when we arrived, even though we were a bit early. COVID precautions were in full evidence; as in nearly all locations we visited, we were asked to use hand sanitizer, to step into a solution to clean the soles of our shoes, and as I recall temperatures were taken as well. Hotel staff arranged for an on-site antigen test for us two days before departure for ~$65/pp and results were returned the same day. Additionally, the hotel arranged laundry service for us and had our items delivered at an exceptional price. In keeping with our custom, we tipped housekeeping daily as well as all other staff services. We were graciously served cocktails poolside and enjoyed a nice breakfast one day in the restaurant as well. The pool area is a tranquil, beautifully-landscaped oasis (as is, frankly, the whole property) and we whiled away many happy hours enjoying the birds and lizards. The hotel is half a block from the Zocalo and a block and a half from the south end of the Andador. The markets are an easy stroll away, as are several other interesting places. But most of all, I want to call out the service of Rosa. She was kind, thoughtful and attentive and spent probably more time than she should have chatting with us. Truly, she made our entire stay worthwhile. When we travel, I rarely get to really CONNECT with the people I meet, and Rosa is someone I'd like to think I'd be friends with under different circumstances. Management at De La Parra must take note of Rosa's care and concern...she is a treasure whose work I appreciated immensely. When we return to Oaxaca, I assure you we'll be spending it at De La Parra.…
Great hotel, pool is awesome, clean and in the center of everything! Good price and the staff is super helpful with getting a cab, or booking appointment with the covid testing center. Would stay again!
We visited Oaxaca for New Year’s Eve and stayed in Hotel de la Parra for 5 nights. The room that they gave us was not prepared. The bathroom wasn’t working, it didn’t have a safe box even when we emailed the hotel 2 weeks before asking for that. There were no toiletries in the room. The employees were trying to fix all this while we where there tired of our trip and wanting to rest. It would have been easier to get another room instead of having to be there watching them working on the bathroom and drilling in the closet to install a safety box. The shampoo and conditioner that they provide were very poor quality. During check out, they wanted to charge $400 pesos per night for using the couch as an extra bed even when they knew that we were a group of 4 in the room (2 adults + 2 kids). This is as senseless as trying to charge extra for using the chair in the desk... which is already part of the room’s furniture. There is no restaurant service out of the 7:00 am to 2:00 pm window, so if you want to get a sandwich in your room, you need to take the time (and the chance) to find some restaurant that delivers good quality food. You can tell, the employees are nice and trying to help but it seems more of a problem with the Hotel Administration. We loved Oaxaca, it was really a super nice trip, very nice and working people and we will come back for sure but certainly to another hotel.…
We spent 10 nights there, and found the staff extremely friendly and helpful. The incredibly inexpensive continental breakfast became a morning ritual, and the room was tidied to perfection every afternoon. The staff helped organize two day trips to nearby sights, and gave good advice on where to find local amenities. Despite being so close to the busy zocalo, the rooms and central courtyard (and pool) were quiet and the whole place was impeccably clean. Hotel de la Parra would be my first choice if I were to return to Oaxaca City.
We have stayed with 3 kids in a junior suite. Very friendly staff help us to park car (as there is no parking at hotel) and get us settled in. Room was comfortable, only airco was somewhat loud. The breakfast was very good. The hotel is located next to the Zocalo and everything is in walking distance. Why not 5 stars: there was hardly any serving at the hotel, expect during breakfast. But I would certainly recommend it for a city trip to Oaxaca.
This hotel was hard to review as much was nice but some basics were lacking. The best things about this hotel are the location and the tranquil feeling once you are inside. My friend and I had a Jr. Suite upstairs, which was very large and light, The service by everyone except the front desk was excellent. Those are the positives. There were some negatives, tho. The tub/shower combo has very high sides and getting in and out is extremely awkward. The grout had mildew and the whole tub area had an unpleasant feel, which was surprising given the cleanliness of the room. I think the hotel has some deferred maintenance. The room was quite stark and noisy as there was nothing on the walls or the floor. Some little touches of color would have been nice. The AC was not sized to sufficiently cool the room. I thought we were paying for the pool man who was around to get drinks and the restaurant, which was lightly used. We did not eat at the restaurant. If you want a vacation by a small pool where someone will give you a drink, this is a good place to do it.…
