Generally we had a great time and would come back. But there are things you should know about. Good thing is it's a huge room with a modern renovated bathroom, a beautiful classic interior courtyard with trees and breeze, and a great restaurant. We got everything we needed from staff and the price was good (if you can get a deal). I liked the tile floors, big desk, and TV selection. We easily got ready everyday. Some things to consider: - As noted in other reviews noise but for us particularly only one night when there was a huge party and this one guy was texting at 2am outside our door on the bench. The general street noise and such was actually very nice and soothing. Also someone would smoke a lot below us and all we had to do was close the window and turn on the A/C unit. - It is currently "winter" time and they don't change the blanket, only the sheets. After 3 days I probably should have asked for a new one. They made the rooms nicely everyday. The bed comfort was actually pretty good compared to the last place in CDMX. - The room safe is old style that requires a special lock, not a code. So I didn't bother to use it. - Closet space was a bit small even for one person (we were two). - No coffee maker in room (surprisingly) We had no issues with staff I think I could feel the energy was a little off but they were very helpful and they all spoke good English when needed. I think the vibe would be chill and quiet at the time of our visit and that was good for us. I did feel like the one party night actually added to the Mexican experience because it was like being in all of that joy and fun. Also we were sometimes very chatty in our room so maybe we contributed to someone else's noise hahaha. Restaurant breakfast course included is basically eggs only and the waiter was very nice to us everyday. I think we should have just offered to try their other dishes but we had plenty of time to try Oaxacan cuisine elsewhere. This is funny but my favorite part was the shower because the water was strong and hot and I felt so good after a long day out. And feeling the natural breeze from the windows and going into courtyard. Do note that the room can dry out a bit at night so we kept the windows closed then. The most important part of this hotel for both of us was the free hot and cold water coolers on every floor. We drink a LOT of water so it was great to save money on bottles. I would say the person who should stay here is just vacationing and exploring town and not staying in the room all the time. Wifi was so so, I wouldn't want to work on my computer here. I really enjoyed coming back to that courtyard vibe, it made each night really special.…
We absolutely loved our stay at Parador Del Dominico. It is the perfect location to explore Oaxaca: walking distance to the bustling city center, yet a quiet oasis at the same time. It is tastefully decorated with a respect for history. The very old tree in the beautiful garden is an hommage to past times. The staff is super friendly and the rooms are neat (try to book a room with a terrace!). The coffee houses, bakeries, and restaurants close by are recommendable. No surprise, we will definitely be back here when we visit Oaxaca again. Thank you so much for our wonderful stay.
We stayed at this hotel while on a bus tour, The hotel and grounds are lovely, from the few interactions I’ve had with the staff I would say they are all very good. Breakfast was excellent as was the lunch we enjoyed in the hotel’s restaurant. The room was fine, the bed was a little hard but the biggest issue I had was the noise. The way the hotel is set up it’s just hard to avoid it. People going up and down the stairs, sometimes singing (they like the echo). I guess with the price point it’s very attractive to those who enjoy partying late at night, that’s not us, especially as we have to get up early for our tours. As I’m 1/2 of a couple in our 50’s I would never book here again but if your looking for affordable accommodations close to everything this might be the place for you. …
I booked this hotel 7 month ago and we arrived a week ago, leaving tomorrow. CHeck in was poor and unprofetional, our two rooms were not the same neither were te facilities we asked for. DOnt get taken by the photos of this hotel, they are not real, neither is the staff working there. THe management and the rest of staff are a bunch of unprofetional people, starting by the lady receptionist, a real arrogant and prevention person,. WE complaint about night noise and the answer was, that in Oaxaca, noise is normal and is not done by Mexicans is done by the outside visitors, what a welcome I got!. MY recommendation is to avoid this hotel if you need to rest and to be respected.I have being in Oaxaca 4 times and this is the worse ever.
The hotel is clean, it has a little courtyard, the staff is really helpful. The location is good, pretty close to Santa Domingo. Nothing too special about it, a good base for exploring Oaxaca. We didn't try the breakfast as there are so many good options close by. The rooms on the top floor have nice views.
This is the second time we have stayed here, both times for 17 days. It is fairly quiet (some noise from firecrackers going off in the city). The beds are a little firmer than we are used to but not uncomfortable. Maid service was excellent. We had two double beds and my adult son stayed in the room with us for 7 nights and we never felt crowded. Friendly and efficient staff. My special thanks to the manager Jasmin (I don’t think that is exactly how to spell it) who remembered me and my name from last year. She was delightful and a great help. We ate breakfast in the attached restaurant each day which serves excellent food. I do recommend going through a website like Trip Advisor for the best value since it appears booking directly with the hotel costs a bit more. This is our go to place to stay in Oaxaca.…
Me and my family stayed at this hotel during “day of the dead” festival. We had a lot of questions about the parade route and best time to visit cemeteries, etc… The reception staff answered all our questions with open arms and kindly arranged the transportations. The hotel was situated in a great location and close to the heart of festival activities. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The only negative point was the fact that wardrobe and safe (deposit box) were located inside the bathroom! So it was not possible to put anything inside the closet because of humidity and steam produced during bath-time.
Great location to get into the heart of Oaxaca, far enough to be out of the main noise zone. Super clean, comfortable beds and friendly service. Be sure to check out the coffee shop right across the street, too.
I loved this location (minutes from San Domingo church, plaza, museums, restaurants. Room was clean and adequate. Beds were like laying on rocks. I was in Room 105, first floor. When comparsas (parades) went by the sound traveled straight into my room. I would stay again but wish the beds where softer. Front desk help was great and breakfast was wonderful. Coffee was amazing. It would be nice if they had coffee in the lobby for guests.
Hotel was nice, older but nice, had problems with water and electricity in some rooms. Bring your own towels and whatever you wash your body with. Hotel only supplies a towel, you can purchase a body scrubber in the lobby. Resturant is minimal and there is no bar. But the Resturant across the street is great.
