Detailed Reviews
We just needed a place to stay for the night as the house next door to our airbnb was being drilled and hammered well into the evening.
We got a room on the ground floor that had 2 double beds. The hotel lobby/eating area was lovely old Mexico in style. Our room was beautifully decorated, the sheets were crisp white cotton with a cotton bedspread. All tastefully put together. The cost was very reasonable and we were so lucky to get a room at short notice.

This is a great hotel in Oaxaca, close walking distance to historic center of Oaxaca and Zocalo, but also Xochimilco and Jalatlaco colorful neighborhoods. The hotel is great and offers decent breakfast, particularly the fruit spread is amazing. The Wi-Fi works most of the time, rooms are nice and spacious, comfy beds and hot shower. Would stay again.

We absolutely loved our stay at Parador Del Dominico. It is the perfect location to explore Oaxaca: walking distance to the bustling city center, yet a quiet oasis at the same time. It is tastefully decorated with a respect for history. The very old tree in the beautiful garden is an hommage to past times. The staff is super friendly and the rooms are neat (try to book a room with a terrace!). The coffee houses, bakeries, and restaurants close by are recommendable. No surprise, we will definitely be back here when we visit Oaxaca again. Thank you so much for our wonderful stay.

Response from Parador del Dominico Oaxaca, Atención al huésped/Recepción at Parador Del Dominico
Responded Dec 6, 2021
Hola Kim.

A very basic place, expensive for what it is, poor decoration, noisy and unprofessional reception staff, hardly greeted when one arrived and left the stopper. Super scrubbed the employees when they cleaned the rooms, left everything lying in the halls, trash, towels, etc. Many details of poor maintenance. Two points in favor, location, close to the center, but at the same time quiet the area and cleaned the rooms well.
Anyway Oaxaca is overrated, would not be more than 2/3 days, interesting places to eat but would not return for that. Expensive and not at all picturesque craft villages, of course as soon as they realize that one is not Mexican, they charge more expensive, ask in several places because if there is difference in prices.

We stayed at this hotel while on a bus tour,
The hotel and grounds are lovely, from the few interactions I’ve had with the staff I would say they are all very good.
Breakfast was excellent as was the lunch we enjoyed in the hotel’s restaurant.
The room was fine, the bed was a little hard but the biggest issue I had was the noise.
The way the hotel is set up it’s just hard to avoid it. People going up and down the stairs, sometimes singing (they like the echo).
I guess with the price point it’s very attractive to those who enjoy partying late at night, that’s not us, especially as we have to get up early for our tours. As I’m 1/2 of a couple in our 50’s I would never book here again but if your looking for affordable accommodations close to everything this might be the place for you.

This is the second time I have stayed here and would not stay anywhere else. I love this parador and I feel like I am home here. Clean, pleasant, restful and somewhat hidden away but still close to everything. The staff is fabulous and so attentive. If they don’t know something, they find it out. There is a charming restaurant too. This place is the best.

Little cozy place in the middle of town.
Really friendly staff who just want you the best.
The place seems a little tired, but the charm outweighs everything.
That there is free water, only pulls up, and the same does the small courtyard.
There's a bit of traffic noise.

The hotel is clean, it has a little courtyard, the staff is really helpful. The location is good, pretty close to Santa Domingo. Nothing too special about it, a good base for exploring Oaxaca. We didn't try the breakfast as there are so many good options close by. The rooms on the top floor have nice views.

We really needed a hotel for the last days of Easter Week and the Best Western web site showed availability. We booked almost 45 days in advance and then doublechecked with their web site a week in advance. When we arrived in Oaxaca (by car) late in the evening, the manager on duty had never heard of us or had any trace of our reservations. He groused that Best Western reservations department did this to them with regularity. By good fortune, he did have a no show and put us into the very last room in the hotel. Good fortune because Oaxaca is absolutely booked during Easter Week and it was 10pm at night. This is where the good news begins, though. Nice staff, clean hotel, and good restuarant. Only about four blocks from the Zocalo and other fun stuff. Would recommend this hotel to others as a good value -- would stay there again.
