This is one of the friendliest places I've ever stayed. The building itself is beautiful and comfortable and I seriously don't think I've ever been treated better by a staff anywhere I've ever stayed. The breakfast and kitchen are quite nice and the staff was really helpful with info about the city. Stay here.
We enjoyed every aspect of our stay in this amazing hotel. The staff are extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable; the location is ideal - just steps away from the Cathedral Santo Domingo and botanical gardens; the hotel is laid out and decorated like an Italian villa, and the decor is extremely lovely and charming. The room was decorated in the same fashion and had a comfortable bed and a big bathroom , plus a shaded shared terrace with tables and couches right outside the door. Definitely recommend!
This hotel was the cheapest hotel I have ever been to and they are advertising it as a luxury experience and charging customers as a luxury hotel. First of all, we were given a room on the roof that was not even part of the palace, it was a cheap room that was added to the building later, with a low ceiling and a bath that would not even drain water. ( it was like a tent on top of the building). The day after we spend an hour of our short stay there complaining, telling them what we reserved had a different description on the website and they Agreed to change our room. In the new room, my husband found a cockroach, and like the one in the previous room, the water was not draining in the bath or Sink. On the hotel's website, They specifically advertised that every room has Hermes toiletry; This is the level of luxury they are advertising which is not true, there was not a single piece of Hermes toiletry anywhere. They put one shampoo on two of us each day. I have long hair, and when I asked for an extra shampoo they were questioning my request. Same with laundry bag, they had trash bags instead of laundry bags and I have been questioned for asking for a second one! We only got one bottle of water each day and there was not even a tea or coffee in the room. The breakfast was a served small plate of fruit and a coffee with a small bread. Everything else was by order and at extra charge. This breakfast was served after 9:00, which is very late for any hotel especially if you are in Oaxaca and need to leave your hotel early in the morning in order to get to archeological sites. There was a young gentleman, who was the receptionist, the server, and the concierge desk. Long story, short, this hotel has been misrepresented and miss advertised by the host, be careful!…
Close to the hustle and bustle of downtown, but far from the noise, this serene location was calming and quiet compared to our prior accommodation and we were grateful for the hospitality and attention of the staff, who could not have been nicer. The room itself was gorgeous with 20 foot ceilings and a full length soaking tub. Rooftop for wonderful views of the city.
May I add my positive review to the other accurate opinions. This is a lovely boutique hotel with the most convenient location in colonial Oaxaca. Steps to finest and trendiest restaurants and bar/ cafes, galleries and sights. Delicious and gracious sit down breakfast. Warm, low key service. Lovely room with modern bath. Luxury toiletries. Good a/c.
I loved my six night stay at Palacio Borghese. My room was spacious and comfortable, with excellent bedding and absolutely terrific pillows - a rare thing! I had a bit of street noise at night, but that was compensated by the excellent views of the city and the Church of Santo Domingo. The staff was terrific! They always offered flavored waters at the end of the day, gave us clear directions to places, helped us with planning and always greeted us warmly and personally. Breakfast was super tasty and pleasant in the lovely courtyard. The hotel is extremely well located in walking distance to all markets, churches, shopping and restaurants. It was an excellent stay!!
We just spent 6 nights at Palacio Borghese and we couldn’t have felt more comfortable. Wonderful, warm staff, beautiful old architectural building! The hotel is centrally located in beautiful Oaxaca and we would happily return for a second visit. We couldn’t recommend the hotel and the staff more highly.
A beautiful hotel, perfectly located with very large and beautifully decorated rooms. Lovely staff with every attention to their guests. The hotel is close to Santa Domingo and all the best restaurants.
We spent more than two weeks at the Hotel Palacio Borghese and felt extremely well supported and cared for. It's a former convent, and retains that peaceful and intimate sense. With only eight guest rooms, the staff is very attentive and hospitable. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated. The services provided were outstanding. They suggested activities and helped us hire drivers, guides and interpreters when needed. By the end of our stay we felt like part of the family. Muchissimas gracias, Hotel Palacio Borghese! We really hope to stay there and visit beautiful Oaxaca again. Breakfasts and fresh juices served daily were very delicious -- try the specialities! Oaxaca has a young population, with many students and young tourists, and together with that a lively nightlife, especially on weekends. The hotel is located very centrally, which is wonderfully convenient. But on weekend nights we could hear the bass from some nearby bars or clubs until late. Our sense was that this would be the case anywhere in central Oaxaca -- if you're a light sleeper, take ear plugs. The rest of the week it was peaceful.…
We highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Oaxaca. It’s centrally located, only a block from the Santo Domingo Cathedral and a few blocks from the Zocalo. The staff is very welcoming and accommodating, especially Henry at the front desk! The inside of the hotel is beautiful. It feels authentic and unique, with only eight rooms. It has a lovely sunbathing area on the roof with a gorgeous view of the city. We absolutely loved our stay!
