I thought long and hard about writing this review. When you find a place like this, you hesitate to share it - but that would be unfair. This small boutique hotel is a haven of peacefulness in the center of Oaxaca, within easy walking distance to the Zocalo with its myriad of shops and restaurants. There are 16 rooms, each...

I spent a week at Casa Colonial in November with my mother and sisters based on the recommendations of multiple trusted friends. Our stay at Casa Colonial was superb in every way. Our rooms were spacious, beautifully appointed with interesting art and furnishings. The lush garden was peaceful and filled with plants and birds (which especially thrilled my bird watching...

After spending the Day of the Dead holidays in the center of town, it was a delight to transfer to Casa Colonial. The courtyard was lush and tranquil. The salon/library was a delightful meeting place. There was even enough light to practice my cross-stitch while taking an afternoon off from touring. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast and took advantage of...

Cass Colonial is a bit off the major tourist streets. This is an advantage if you don't mind walking or using other transportation. I never met the owner, but the manager, Armado, speaks excellent English and is very helpful in making suggestions or arrranging tours. Out room was stuffy, as there was nth cross ventilation. The was the only negative...

We recently stayed at Casa Colonial for the Day of the Dead celebration and couldn’t have had a more enjoyable, informative and delicious adventure. Jane, the owner, and Amado, the manger, were very attentive and helpful and, because of their relationships with local artisans and knowledge of the area, we were able to experience the real local culture. Jane took...

We took a group of 10 friends to Oaxaca and stayed at Casa Colonial for 12 days. Amado, general manager, coordinated the entire tour for us, taking in to account what our group wanted to see and do. He is a consummate professional and very friendly and informative. He arranged all the transportation, tour guides and cooking class for us....

Casa Colonial is such a tranquil space on the edge of the central historic district in Oaxaca. I first happened upon them six years ago when I attended their fascinating 12 day "Dia de los Muertos" tour. My recent return was even more relaxing in this authentic villa from (I believe) the 1870's. My room sported vintage floor tiles from...

For my second year, I have stayed in the inviting surrounds of the Casa Colonial in Oaxaca Mexico. I thought I had reviewed this gem before, but on searching my feed didn't find it there. Perhaps i was suppressing my desire to keep this place my secret. It is so special and unique, and provides not only a welcome respite...

Jane, our host and her incredible staff made our stay the most enjoyable I had in long long time. The rooms are wonderful and comfortable. Breakfasts they prepare for us are delicious. I will definitely return there.

Casa Colonial was originally a house built in the old style with verandas around a verdant central garden. The ambiance is restful, gracious, and very "Oaxaca". The staff could not be nicer and greatly enhance the joy of staying at the Casa. There is Oaxacan folk art everywhere in the gardens and rooms. Rooms are charming, but not fancy and...
