Casa Cid de Leon encapsulates all that is to love about Oaxaca. We were lucky enough to secure a timeshare exchange to this wonderful location. This centuries-old building is so much more than an average hotel. The accommodations were unique displaying some of Oaxaca’s colonial

I have stayed at hundreds, if not a thousand (gulp), hotels. Cid de Leon stands out as one of the most pleasurable of them all. Each room is unique. Each room is special, with varied pieces of ceramic, paintings, wall decor, chandeliers, nightstands, and even cherubs!!!! Very

This is a very unique hotel. The main feature is a winding wood railed staircase that connects to levels for the rooms. Each room is different. They are given names and are not numbered. Rooms are furnished with antique furniture. The room was quite spacious with a comfortable

On the top floor we enjoyed direct access to the terrace for breakfast and for sitting outdoors in the afternoon or evening. Staff was extremely helpful, including light washing and ironing, and they were thrilled with the generous tip we gave them. Excellent central location

Oaxaca is beautiful beyond words. This small hotel is beautiful. Our accommodation for 2 was a bedroom and sitting room, plus bathroom decorated in beautiful antiquities and artifacts. Very friendly and helpful staff, as they arranged all our day trips to famous sites outside

¡Mejor reservar o llegar bien temprano! ==== Don't worry! There are plenty of taxis at the airport and the trip will cost less than $10 USD. You can get Mexican money from the ATM at the airport. There also is a stand in the terminal that sells prepaid tickets for the taxis; you can pay with a credit card. (Make sure you find out from your credit card company what fees you might incur; some of our cards impose a per-transaction fee, but others are free. You also should let them know you will be using your card in Mexico so they don't block it.) Across from the hotel and also around the corner there are banks with ATMs. There are proably 12 more ATMs within a 5-minute walk. The hotel staff is very nice and helpful. If the front door is locked when you get there just knock. Contact the hotel by email before you leave the US to let them know your arrival plans. Don't miss the Sunday buffet at Restaurante Catedral next door to the hotel (entrance around the corner to the right). It offers a great variety of typical foods deliciously prepared and tastefully served at a very modest price. Best to reserve or arrive early as it's very popular! You might want to take a look at my other reviews for nearby restaurants and stores. Have a lovely trip!

Yes. There are refrigerators in the rooms. Because the hotel was a 17th century home, the rooms are configured differently. We stayed in La Bella Epoque with only one room on that floor, which is one floor up from the lobby. The second floor has three rooms I believe and the third floor also has three. I hope this helps.

"expect a tiny bit of noise in the Bella Epoca as all guest coming up the stairs pass by it and it faces the street"
"If you cannot manage stairs request a first floor room. The winding stairway may be difficult to maneuver. There is no elevator."
"We only saw La Dominica and loved it"
"La Bella Epoca is the best. It has two large rooms: a salon and the bedroom with king size bed. The bathroom is a two room suite."
"If you don't like to climb stairs, ask for a lower floor"
