If you are looking for a charming place to stay that will give you the experience of a real Oaxacan neighborhood, but still is within walking distance of the Zocalo, markets, churches and museums, then Encanto Jalatlaco B&B is it. The house is located on a narrow cobblestoned street in the Jalatlaco neighborhood, which is one of the oldest in...

This is a very small B&B. The grounds are kept up beautifully. The rooms are specious and the bed comfy. Maria is very accommodating and if you have dietary needs she will do her best. Linens are changed room cleaned daily fresh flowers fresh towels. This is quiet, quaint and just to cute.

We were lucky to get into this lovely home after a few days in a hotel near the Zocolo. The noise and congestion of the area made us seek a b&b in another area. We were able to get into the casita Filipe, for the remainder of the stay. The room was spacious, beautiful and spotlessly clean. The grounds are so...

We weren't sure about staying so far from the Zocalo at first (a good 15 min by foot) but then we discovered lots of hidden treasures in the Jalatlaco neighborhood and love it..... The cobblestone streets, cafes serving fabulous coffee, a building painted in a Dia de los Muertos theme and a quaint old church. We also enjoyed eating local,...

We absolutely loved our stay at the Encanto Jalatlaco in the cobblestoned neighborhood just to the east of the Centro Historico. After the busyness of the Zocalo and the pedestrian-only Alacala, with its many, many shops, and after a full day of fascinating small museums and/or trips to outlying areas, it was a joy to retire to the calm, immaculate...

We have traveled throughout Mexico for forty plus years and we agree with all of the six previous reviews except that Encanto is "quiet". As we lay here trying to sleep in the Carolina room at 10:00pm before awakening at five am for a flight home we are being "serenaded" by a neighbor's dog. This happened our first night until...

This three-room B&B was wonderful. We had the "Carolina" room, which is large, comfortable, and quiet. For seven days we had a different Mexican breakfast every morning, with a beautifully set (also different daily) table. The Chela (spelling?), the owner, is extremely helpful with everything. The B&B is about a 15 minute walk from the Zocolo and in a very...

I wrote a lot about this spot in my review for La Casa de mis Recuerdos, the "parent" property for the several owned by this family. My husband and I stayed here while my mother stayed at Mis Recuerdos - it's just around the corner - and hope to stay again and again and again. You CANNOT go wrong staying...

This charming B&B is small, cozy, and refreshing, compared to bigger places you can stay in the city center. It's a bit further away (by a few blocks) but is very quiet and once you close the wooden street door, you feel miles away. Food and hospitality arre excellent, too. Pretty patio and comfortable sitting room near the dining room,...

We have stayed at Encanto Jalatlaco many times with family and friends and will continue to do so. This is a wonderful way to experience life in Oaxaca in comfortable and beautiful surroundings. Authentic Oaxacan breakfasts are served in a beautiful setting each day. William and Nora are very welcoming and are ready to help with any information about the...

“We stayed upstairs in the house, as well as the casita in the garden. We enjoyed both rooms. The casita may be more advantageous, if you don't want to lug a suitcase upstairs.”

“We stayed in the Felipe room which is separate from the house - quite lovely and large. It would be nice to try the Carolina room, which is upstairs and has its own small balcony overlooking the garden and also has a/c during hot weather. We've heard that the Ximena is a little small, but the reduced price for it reflects this. Two friends can easily stay in the Felipe when the king bed (humongous!) is separated into two largish twin beds. None of the rooms get street noise - it's very quiet once you're inside the big wooden doors to the street.”
