We stayed 5 days in Posada Don Mario. It is located 2 blocks away from the Santo Domingo temple and 7 minutes walk to the Zocalo. There are plenty of good restaurants around the corner and you can book good value tours with them like to Monte Alban, Hierve El Agua and Mitla. Staff is very attentive and helpful. Breakfast...

This is a really nice hotel with a great location, on a hill at the northwest edge of the Centro. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful & will deliver a cold beer to your room if you're too tired to walk downstairs. Breakfast is delicious, & they've invested a lot of time & energy in the décor. Would definitely stay...

I have been visiting Oaxaca city and staying at Posada Don Mario over the past ten years . I was amazed at the very many improvements I saw during this last visit . Almost all the rooms have a private bathroom and , to my relief ( arriving from The Netherlands at 3 am) there is a night time receptionist...

This is my second visit to Oaxaca and my second stay at Posada Don Mario. Situated in the quieter part of the Centro Historico, this is a quiet little oasis, still very close to a number of excellent restaurants and bars, and a pleasant 10 min walk along cobblestone streets to the Zocalo. The staff are friendly and helpful, the...

This small posada is located just at the edge of the historic center so everything is within reach by foot but it's just far enough away to be quiet as well as cozy and comfortable. Lots of personal touches everywhere, the staff is considerate and caring and breakfast is simple, well presented and delicious,,served in a quaint courtyard that hosts...

Posada Don Mario for me was a relaxing retreat at an affordable price. I found the staff wonderfully helpful, the rooms clean and comfortable. I had a room which had no cross ventilation and which had a ceiling that was the roof of the building so it did great quite hot. But I could have asked for another room and...

This guest house is in a great location, it's in a quiet and safe area, but easily walkable to the zocalo, great restaurants and bars. The staff are all super friendly and helpful, particular Thomas. He even helped me load my Telcel sim since I didn't speak a lot of spanish. The staff will help you book tours as well...

I had a room on the first floor, overlooking the courtyard with a shared bath. Although I requested a single room, I was given a room with 3 beds for the price of a single room. The room was plenty large, had a ceiling fan, and earplugs kept the late night noise out. The shared bathroom was large but it...

This place was recommended by friends in the non-profit world in Oaxaca. Excellent location: close to the zocalo but far enough away for it to be quieter. Norma and her staff are very friendly and helpful. She offers a personal, caring touch. Rooms are small and simple, as you would expect for the price. But they were fine for me...

This place has a lovely rooftop balcony and courtyard looking east over the city, and the blackboard welcoming guests by name and country is a nice touch (it certainly helped us to get talking to people at breakfast). A lot of thought has gone into the decor too. On the downside, we found the rooms very warm even with the...
