So writing this because we've had to cancel our trip due to the corona virus, and I've been really impressed by the hotel. We didn't even have to ask a for a refund, was all taken care of automatically. If we get another chance to visit Mexico City, will definitely be making this our choice again.
We enjoyed our stay at Chaya. The staff was very nice and accommodating. We had a super early flight (left the hotel at 5am) and they were nice enough to have breakfast out for us. The room was very clean and the bed was so comfy. I will say that the walk up four flights of stairs was a lot - especially after spending the day walking around the city. We were fine with it, but I think an elderly person would really struggle. The place has a hostel vibe, even though the rates are comparable to nicer hotels, and I noticed a couple of younger travelers showed up to breakfast with no shoes on. I’ve stayed at my fair share of hostels so I get it, but I guess when you pay a lot, you expect more. I noticed several travel blogs/IG influencers that I follow recommend this place, and I wonder if that might be a marketing technique that the hotel uses, and as such, draws in a specific crowd. It was a very instagrammable location - cute rooftop with hammocks and such. All in all, we would stay here again bc of the location and the stellar customer service; however, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it for older travelers.…
Came to Mexico City for a play This hotel is within walking the staff went overboard to be helpful the breakfast outstanding the view fabulous Just the best place and very reasonable The hotel is atop an old historic building with a cactus garden courtyard Great view of the Historic Downtown
This was a small, but very nice and clean hotel with excellent cooked to order breakfast. I especially appreciated the terry cloth bathrobe once I got back from being soaked in a torrential rain! The breakfast table was communal and the other guests I met were in their 20s, so for a 70 year old, the hotel felt somewhat like a hostal. Warning...it's in an office building and there are 3 full flights of stairs to get to the hotel (no elevator)
Great hip style. Nice staff. Clean. Great breakfast included. Right downtown by the Palacio de Bellas Artes and the beautiful plaza La Alameda. No elevator, located in the 4th floor. They will take care of your luggage though.
