My husband and I went to Mexico over Easter. We were spending only one day in Mexico City before flying out to the south of the country so we stayed at the Aeropuerto hotel at the airport. And it was a lucky choice!

Yes, I think so. There are offices for the hotels in the airport - all the hotel offices are clustered in one place - I'm fairly sure it's in Terminal 1 but you can ask or search online. I arrived later than that and just went into the office. They're very nice and just asked me to wait a few minutes till one or two more people arrived and then we were escorted out to the shuttle and taken to the hotel. I don't know whether you've been there before but everyone tipped the driver - not much, probably 10 or 20 pesos.
