W Mexico City garners acclaim for its exceptional service and chic, vibrant atmosphere, though a few guests have noted some rooms may come across as slightly dated and noisy. Nestled in the fashionable Polanco district, the hotel's location is a hit with guests, providing convenient access to local attractions and dining options. The amenities, including a luxurious spa and delectable breakfast, receive high marks. However, opinions on value are mixed, with some questioning the cost given the older room decor.

I had an absolutely wonderful time staying at the W Mexico City for a full week. The staff was incredibly helpful and really nice. The Concierge even helped with one of our Uber drivers when we wanted to go to see the pyramids - our Spanish was pretty rudimentary, so he ensured the driver understood our complicated itinerary. The staff at breakfast was also super friendly every single day. The room was very clean and the views of Polanco were breathtaking. I really appreciated that they had some complimentary water for BonVoy members. This being the first visit to Mexico City, staying at this hotel definitely made the trip more comfortable and memorable.

We decided to visit Mexico City despite the current Corona Virus crisis as we had planed so far in advance. The Hotel was very quiet but still managed to make us feel very welcome and comfortable. We had a nice Junior Suite with a view and space for all our stuff. The style of decor is minimal and a bit over the top quirky. A lot of white and not exactly cosy but felt very clean and the bathroom well equipped (though the shower is a bit difficult to use without getting showered with freezing cold water as you have to be completely under it to be able to turn it on!).
Great breakfast buffet despite being pretty much the only guests.
Location the biggest asset with lovely restaurants and shopping close by and a real feeling of security. A short walk to the park which is well worth a visit.
I do struggle with the loud lobby music and the "nightclub" feel of the lobby areas at W Hotels but I think it might be an "age" thing.

Mexico City Experience- If CDMX is on your travel list I would recommend the W in Polanco. We usually stay next door at the JW, which we like a lot, but we stayed at the W for the 1st time on this trip. I am ambassador level with Bonvoy and 1000+ nights lifetime. We have also been in bonvoy hotels most of 2020 (long story) but the treatment at this hotel has been by far better than any place we've ever visited. To begin, our upgrade was two connecting rooms with amazing views. My ambassador also notified the hotel that it was my son's 12th birthday and as we arrived the staff seemed to know who we were as we got out of the car. The customer service was unbeatable. They had one room set up as a movie theater for us, complete with a popcorn machine, cake, ice cream, fruit, chocolates, just all out. In the room for my wife and I there was a tray of snacks and a bottle of wine. There was also a gift for me (Cologne)! Everybody in this hotel knows our names and checks on us, and greets us as we pass. The GM made a point of welcoming us and we had a great discussion. Anyway, I don't know if it's always like this at W, and I’m sure lower capacity helped, but they sure did an amazing job for us.

We selected the hotel because of its location and thought it would be clean and well run.

But, this hotel (I’m here now) is an absolute mess. Only one of the 3 elevators is working and we are waiting 20 minutes per ride. Management barely apologised. They didn’t seem to care.

One elevator down can be bad luck. Two out suggests poor (and unacceptable) preventive maintenance/management. I heard other guests talking about being afraid of being in the sole working elevator and asking what else the management is doing poorly.

In addition, we had only 1 tiny bar of soap in the room and had to ask 2 times over 2 days before new soap was delivered. Having a bar of soap in both the shower and at the sink shouldn’t be too high a bar. Nor, did I think it was too much to ask for, but the front desk manager seemed very put-out by the request.

Also, anyone over 22 will find the club decibel-level music in the lobby and the bar area deafening.

The JW Marriott and the Intercontinental Hotels are a 2 and 3 minute walk from the W. Both are nicer than this hotel and are offering rooms at better rates. Don’t even consider this hotel.

As you mentioned, this unexpected situation with elevators is not the kind of service we use to offer, therefore, as you probably noticed our Management team was helping our guest to get faster wherever they need additionaly to our courtesy in our lobby. Please be assured our three elevators are currently working and available to our guest. I sincerely apologize for not meeting your expectations, we hope get a new chance to do it better whenever your travels bring you back to Mexico City.

I rated this hotel as average, because that’s absolutely what it is. It isn’t the best hotel nor it’s the worst. It definitely should not call itself a 5 star hotel like they do. Feels 4 stars at most! The decor and architecture are very tacky, but I guess that’s just a question of taste and seems to be a motif in all W hotels (although the Miami one is much more refined and toned down) What really bothered me about this hotel was the room. It felt really old and tasteless. The floor was made of ice cold bathroom tiles thought out the entire space. There was only a window at the bathroom. The shower felt like a black dark room. Super claustrophobic. But worst of all was the wall has a wall paper with a massive picture of a white model dressed in indigenous clothing. It’s 2021, surely someone must have called out the heinous cultural appropriation! If you want to pay homage to indigenous culture, please use wall art that shows actual indigenous people, made and sold by them! And not a white model! Another problem I had was the non inconsistent use of masks. I removed my mask when running in the treadmill and the attendant made me put it back on. Even though right in front of me there were people in the indooor pool not wearing masks! I pointed that out and the man said that the hot water from the pool killed Covid? That’s inaccurate. I told him I was fully vaccinated and I was just running on a treadmill, and there was not one soul next to me. He said it was hotel policy. When I came back to the hotel that night, the lobby at the bar was packed like a nightclub and no one was wearing a mask! Complete hypocrisy. The last thing that bothered me was some false advertising. If you go on The W Mexico City website, the first image you see is of this beautiful rooftop bar with a stunning view. That’s literally the main image of the site. When I arrived I asked about it and they said it’s the penthouse suite. Very deceiving because the picture is of a grand bar, that does not indicate at all that it’s a room.

Now for the good part, the staff is very friendly and nice. Even the man at the gym with the inconsistent mask policies was still very nice and well mannered. I’d especially like to thank the bartender who found a 10 dollar bill I accidentally dropped and called my room to give it back. Also ten bed was pretty comfortable and the location of the room is the best in Mexico City!

just left after 3 nights in the w hotel . as the title says the location was nice the bed was comfy but the furniture was outdated as with most older w hotels . my shower was really small for me I couldnt even stand up straight I know im tall at 6'4 but this has never happened anywhere else for me and had gross yellow stains

also dont take their cars just use uber or even uber black if you wanna be extra comfy. the bellman knew I was waiting for my uber but told me to just take their car as he made it seem like it was almost the same price and that I can just charge it to the room. not only did the driver not no where to go after I gave him the addy he ended up dropping me off a half a block away. honestly it isnt a big deal but he charged me 240 pesos to go to roma norte (uber 46ish) and was demanding cash even though I was told I can easily charge it to the room. after me insisting he charge he finally agreed. this experience really put a bad taste in my stomach cause i already had a uber on the way

I came here for my bachelorette and let me tell you this place is AMAZING! This hotel definitely attracts a younger crowd with their awesome nightlife & decor that gives it a youthful feel. The customer service was immaculate from the moment we walked in. Everyone here is super friendly and accommodates your needs attentively. Rooms were also cleaned daily which is a big plus since a lot of people don't clean during covid. Diego was also the best & super helpful into making our trip memorable. We did not have specific plans when it came to dinner and going out & he was always responsive & helped us book tables at all the hotspots in Polanco. I would definitely stay here again!

Having read the reviews and stayed in several W Hotels we had high expectations- sadly these were not really met.
The hotel is pretty well located and has a good gym ( however the pool , steam and sauna areas are not really up to scratch .
They felt a bit dirty/ grimy and the steam room was ridiculously hot in fact unbearable .
The room was a nice size with a good view of Polanco however the shower over the bathtub was plain stupid and not designed with ease of use in mind .
The hotel has 3 lifts / elevators that serve over 20 +floors and cannot cope with the volume of both guests and people using the hotel for conferences it was a nightmare to get up and down and became tedious.
In our opinion the hotel needs an update as its pretty out of date now with its “trendy”2000 decor.
The team are ok - that said breakfast tends to be a rushed job - getting you in and out as quickly as possible.
The breakfast was adequate but again nothing special for a hotel that had such a strong brand identity.

Probably wouldn’t recommend or stay again

Sorry

W hotels are not anymore why they used to be.
Spent 5 days at the hotel: very friendly staff and excellent location. But the hotel is getting old. The lift was not working for all 5 days so had to wait 10-15 minutes in front of the lift every day to be able to go to the reception and back to the room. At one point I walked up 12 floors in order to be able to go to sleep !
Rooms are nice but equipment is getting old. The espresso machine was not working.
On the positive side, the restaurant on the 1st floor is making very good food

I arrived to the W for a long leisure weekend. Best choice I could have made. I was upgraded to a Marriott Bonvoy Floor room which had sleek, very tasteful and refined style and decor. A lot of fine local details were present which really connected to this amazing destination which is Mexico City. The room just as the whole hotel was immaculately clean. Being located in a Marriott Bonvoy Elite floor, early morning and evening there was a small buffet next to the elevators with complimentary coffee tea beverages, sandwiches, chips, drink yoghurt and so on to gran n go: great! I had a little gift also in the room thanking me for my loyalty as a Marriott Bonvoy member: very nice! Upon check-in they asked me for my cleaning schedule wish and then personalized the cleaning of my room every day, excellent service. One evening I had dinner at the Trivvu terrace. The experience was amazing, although it was quite full, the ambience was cozy with the right type and volume of music coming from a talented DJ. I had a very tasty and top quality cowboy steak and as a starter a wonderful salmos tartare. The service matched the amazing energetic but relaxed atmosphere surrounded by cozy candles and a firepit. The breakfast buffet was sumptuous, everything was fresh and they had a live station with an extremely friendly chef preparing Benedict eggs a la minute. Even one day they had live pizza station and you could take it in a box for later, all included in the price!Don’t miss the tamales at breakfast! The evenings were fun whereas I had the choice of attending a show they have every Saturday in the second floor, or taking it easy at the lobby bar which is relatively busy but quiet enough to connect with other guests. The managers welcome you to free cocktails every single day in the evening. They rotate but you can get to know them and network with other guests. I loved it! Overall tha has got to be my favorite place to stay in Mexico City and the district of Polanco is amazing with loads of life style options at walking distance. Will be back soon!

Hey mate you are from London - the last thing you need is too much sun...;) The short answer is that I do not think the W has an outside pool such as what you are looking for. My wife and I stayed at the W in Polanco for all of the reasons in my review - it was an active vacation where we got sun by walking around everywhere including at the pyramids. If yours is going to be a more lay around type, I suggest looking next door at the JW Marriott which is a bigger hotel and comes with your kind of pool. Enjoy! BRC
