Our room had one of the best showers, EVER ! Beds are OK. Our room was a little bit run down and noisy. The corridors are very narrow, and that is not easy with your suitcases. The coffee and breakfast are very good ! And the reception personnel could use an extra training. But in the end the location on walking distance from the heart of the city is fantastic.
The location of the Hotel is ideal. It is close to the Mercado de la Ciudadela and San Juan and just 5 minutes from the Alameda Park. Safe neighborhood! In general the Mexico city looked very safe to us. The breakfast was good. Well, we had booked one Standard Double Room with Two Double Beds. It was a small room but colorful with big shower! Be carefull because in the photograph they show you a bigger room. We checked in late so they gave us the smaller one without view and this part was very unpleasant. We asked to change our room and they just ingored us telling us that the hotel was full. Yes, the hotel was full BUT the day after our arrival. The staff doesn't speak good english. The breakfast was good. If it's your first time in Mexico City I recommend it because of the location.…
Super comfortable and quiet for a good nights rest. The shower was hot and good. The breakfast was served early and had coffee, juices, hot items, and a great selection of fresh fruit. I especially liked the yogurt and a granola like topping. The shuttle was exactly on time and a pleasant ride to the airport.
I did some Internet research on this hotel and I liked what I saw: most reviews mentioned how close this was to Park Alameda Central and Centro Historico, how walkable the area was and how safe this is even during the night. I can certify that all the above is true. We arrived on a Wednesday morning via Uber from the airport (~150 pesos) and we were greeted by smiling staff who indicated that the check-in time was until later, so we started to take some things out of our luggage and place them into a backpack to go sight seeing when we were told that a room was readily available. However, if you are not as lucky as we were, they can store your luggage until you come back later to check-in. They gave us a room in the 7th floor with street view. The hotel has 9 floors in total. The room looked recently renovated, and it was clean, cozy and it was exactly what we needed. The room has a hair drier, and a small safe. It didn't have an iron. The toilet is behind a door, the sink is in front of the bed(s) and the shower area was huge! The hotel provides two small water bottles per day. If you want additional bottles then you need to pay 12 pesos and you can get them either in the reception desk or in the vending machine. However there is a convenience store in the corner across the street from the hotel called Oxxo which sells water bottles with cheaper prices. This is important. Running water in Mexico City is not for human consumption, unless you live in Mexico City and are used to this water. I stayed some years ago at another hotel there and they had signs saying that tap water wasn't purified. Why is this important? You must always assume that water is not treated properly unless you are told so. If you drink it then I am afraid you will suffer from what it is called the "Moctezuma revenge" and trust me, it is no fun. The same happens with the hot spicy food that you eat. So, if you are not used to that then it is safe to avoid it, just in case. I eat spicy food at home but still had the stomach virus. The good news is that there is a drugstore in front of the Oxxo store where your can buy over-the-counter meds, but it also has a physician that can prescribe antibiotics or stronger drugs if you need them. The appointment costs 35 pesos, which is roughly less than 2 USD, so it is a good deal. Hopefully not, but if you happen to need the doctor's services, she is really nice and works from 9 AM to 1PM and then from 4 PM to 9 PM except on Sunday. But going back to the hotel, they give you a free map, which is basically a photocopy of an original, but works just as good and makes you acquainted with the surrounding area. You can walk to the Fine Artes Palace (Palacio de Bellas Artes), Torre Latinamericana (Latin American Tower) which is an ugly skyscraper with stunning views from the city. Pro tip: in the hotel lobby there are some brochures from different attractions; one of them is the Torre Latinoamericana. The price to go to the top floor is 110 pesos but if you show the brochure the price immediately drops 25 pesos (a little more than a dollar) per person. You can use 1 brochure for maximum 2 persons. If your party is larger, take more brochures. The closest Metro station is Juarez and it is just less than 200 meters away from the hotel. You can go anywhere in the extensive Metro system for just 5 pesos, so it is a fast and cheap way to go places, the downside being the rush hours because it is REALLY packed at those times. Also don't wear valuables in the Metro. Nothing happened to us but it is the advise you always get so I want to pass it along. You can also walk for 10 minutes to the Centro Historico where you can see the Zocalo square (also known as Plaza de la Constitucion), Palacio Nacional, Catedral Metropolitana and Templo Mayor. All of the above are free except for the Museum of Templo Mayor which at the time of this writing (August 2018) charged 70 pesos per person. If you want to shop for souvenirs then 1 block west and 3 blocks south you will find a market for that: Mercado de Artesanias La Ciudadela where they have a wide variety of tequila shot glasses, decorated skulls, t-shirts, mezcal bottles, and other hand-crafted goods. So, it is a very good location indeed. But going back to the hotel, the WiFi is reliable and good. Cable TV has few channels in English, mostly dubbed or local/soap-opera channels. Breakfast is OK with a selection of tea, coffee or OJ to drink, and a couple of different cereals, donuts, scrambled eggs, sliced bread -which you can toast- and add ham, cheese or fried beans and some tortilla chips. Jam and butter were also available. Everything tastes very good. Breakfast goes from around 7AM to 10AM but it moves 30 minutes during the weekends (7:30AM - 10:30AM). Anyway you can confirm this at the reception. As usual, if you come at a peak time -around 9AM- seating can be somewhat limited but please remember that there are tables available close to the street where you can sit and eat watching the passersby. Napkins may not be waiting for you in your table so what we did was that we asked another table to give us a couple. The staff is kind but they seemed a little overwhelmed by the amount of guests so you may want to come in a little bit early if you need to be on time somewhere. You can also order room service. The menu can be found in a binder in your room. Or you can go to the lobby for lunch or dinner. The hotel also offers a business center with a couple computers which you can use for free and they can print your airline e-ticket if you need it. This costs some money, but it certainly is less than a 1 USD. Due to its location the hotel appeals to tourists, couples, families, and business travelers. I would gladly stay at this hotel again as it provides good value for your buck, the hotel is nice, has a great location and the staff is helpful.…
