Travelers' Choice
Experience the most legendary hotel in Mexico. Avant-garde elegance and first class service are characteristics that the Hotel Geneve has maintained throughout the more than one hundred years since its inception. The architecture and decoration bring to mind a classical European style. The many antiques and pieces of art have become an integral facet of this museum hotel. Located in the heart of the famous Zona Rosa, the hotel is just a couple of blocks away from one of the most important avenues in the country, the well known Paseo de la Reforma. The Hotel is within walking distance of business and leisure areas which include many restaurants, bars, clubs, museums and the Centro Historico, or Historic City Center.

My room was reasonably comfortable. The hotel staff is very professional and courteous, The buffet breakfast was first class. The hotel is centrally located in the zone of the Paseo de la Reforma, a tourist attraction. The architecture is very colonial and quaint and onsite shopping proved to be extremely convenient. High quality products plus a pharmacy were available to hotel guests.

The hotel was dark and creepy. The staff were always questioning if I was a guest. The place is a museum and the staff are like security guards. Not very warm and welcoming more like cold and suspicious. The rooms are large and very dated. They are clean with large comfortable beds. The overall feeling of the hotel is cold and unfriendly. It was hard finding anyone who really spoke English even when they were asking for my room number every day. It took a few minutes to figure out what they wanted. I wouldn’t stay there again. One likes to feel pampered and wanted not watched and scrutinized.

This hotel was amazing! The hotel itself is just lovely, with all sorts of interesting details, especially in the lobby. The restaurant and bar were great, with lots of options, and the rooms were nice too. Also, every single employee was extremely professional. I have never stayed in a place this nice, but my American dollars went a little further in Mexico. I would ABSOLUTELY come here again!!!

This storied hotel is in an excellent location for those who want to explore this exciting metropolis. While a bit dark by today's standards, and a bit worn, it is very reasonably priced, has an excellent breakfast, and the staff are universally friendly and very helpful.

The hotel has a lot of historical charm and the lobby and other common areas are beautiful. The hotel is well situated to nightlife and dining. However, the level of service was a little disappointing. We were assigned a room with twin beds at check in and had to wait until the 2nd night to be transferred to the king room we’d booked. Very difficult to get service in the Telephone Bar and the food in the patio restaurant is very basic for a hotel with such a grand history. We weren’t informed at check in or any other time throughout the stay that they would be filming in the lobby during the stay and the filming made it quite awkward to access your room having to walk around actors and cabling. The bathroom in the room is a little tight and very basic. Overall the stay was comfortable but this wouldn’t be a first choice to stay again because of the service.

I was wowed by the grandeur of the reception and lobby. Beautiful hotel with a long history with it. During the duration of our stay, there was local television series shooting here, which explains how captivating the hotel is. The room we got was grand as well, although, as with old structures, the bathroom is incomparable to the room. It was quite tiny, but we managed. The bed was comfortable but didn’t have enough pillows. The breakfast buffet was awesome, with many to choose from. We also had dinner and drinks there one evening, and the food was good. The best thing about Hotel Geneva is the location in Juarez, Roma Norte. Quite central and within walking distance of many good restaurants. Overall, we had a wonderful 4 nights and come highly recommended.

This is an historic hotel that tells part of the story of Mexico’s last 100 years in its lobby. The public areas are the best part of the stay- they are grand, interesting and fun. The room made us feel like we had gone back in time. I am sure that the room wasn’t substantially different in 1930. Very clean, quiet and a good night’s sleep. Unfortunately, the bathroom badly needed to be updated. The breakfast buffet was generally good, the dining room pleasant and the waiters attentive. It’s a good central location. Overall a good experience. Our main issue with the hotel was a poor level of general maintenance.

It should absolutely be a criminal penalty to claim a five star rating and not even be close to a 3 star. The mattresses are older than the building itself. The furniture is broken. The fridge is locked and you are not allowed to use it. There was a water leak in the shower that came from the wall. The hotel absolutely knows this because their remedy was to put a drain by it. The bathroom was filthy and molding from the water seeping through the walls. The Air conditioning did not work well and was leaking on the carpet the whole time. We had to place a trash can and a towel so we could sleep without hearing the water droplets banging the carpet or the trash can the whole night. We collected about a qt to a half gallon of water in the morning. Part of minimizing this is running the AC low so the humidity can be pulled from the air and the AC doesn’t end up so saturated with water but the housekeeper would just turn it off every time even after knowing that we had Issues with it leaking. They did nothing and because it was prepaid they felt like they weren’t responsible for anything. It’s establishments like these that lie about their rating and leave tourists with a bad taste for Mexico. I think you should start being honest and stop claiming five stars.
