We spent 3 nights at the beautiful Gran Hotel Ciudad de Mexico, This is one of the most beautiful places at which we've ever stayed. The public spaces are truly grand especially the stain glass ceiling. The rooms were well appointed, beds comfortable and the Terrace Restaurant offered a terrific view of Zocalo Square. But the best part was the staff.. from check-in to check-out our experience was wonderful. We had a slight issue with the room air conditioning and could not have been more pleased with the fast, professional response. Truly a first class hotel! We were especially pleased with staff members Cynthia at the Front Desk, Bellman Victor and Doorman/Bellman Jose Luis. They remembered our names and addressed us each time we entered and truly provided great personal and professional service. We hope to be back soon!

Took a while to write this but I had to say that apart from the amazing atmosphere that is dotd, this hotel provided an extraordinary building and location to celbrate this festival. Nothing was too hard for the staff and a special shout out to Gabriela, Manuel,Jaime and Victor for making our stay so memorable.

I started my trip to Mexico with a memorable three night stay at the Gran Hotel CDMX. There are so many agreeable details about this place. It's in a great location, just off the Zocalo (main square), close to transportation links, shopping and some of the city's major sights. It's a great base from which to see the huuuge city. You're met by the bellboy team (Salvador was fantastic throughout my stay - sorry if the spelling is wrong) and then after check in, you are taken to your room via the beautifully ornate wrought iron panoramic lifts/elevators. There's bottled mineral water available on each floor and a nice welcome gift in the room. My room was a great size, well-appointed and comfortable. It had a view of a long, narrow-ish courtyard. I had dinner in the hotel on my first night there. The views over the Zocalo were beautiful. There is a salad bar and whilst the food is pricey, the setting is brilliant and there's a good wine list too. I had a great and comfortable stay. Breakfast was great, you'll be overlooking the Zocalo at ground level and there is a huge variety of fare - remember that you can have eggs to order. The hotel lobby is a gorgeous place to take a load off, the Tiffany ceiling under the morning sun is a sight to behold, the wrought iron showpiece lifts transport you back a century but really it's the staff that makes this hotel. Salvador, the other bell-boys and reception team, those in the breakfast room, the housekeeping team - they all did a great job of making my stay special. Each evening, you get a note about offers in the hotel restaurant/bar the next day and any excursions taking place e.g. to Teotihuacan (I organised my own trips so can't review this aspect of the hotel's service). If you decide to book, you'll have a wonderful stay!

This hotel was recommended by a friend and it was an excellent recommendation. It is located in a historic belle epoque building overlooking the Zocala. The location is perfect as it is right at one corner of the Zocalo and has an excellent view of the plaza. They offer an excellent breakfast buffet. The staff is friendly and efficient and the concierge organized a private tour of the pyramids which was unforgettable. The top floor restaurant offers an nice view of the Zocalo and other excellent restaurants are an easy walk from hotel. The hotel offers a tour of the building explaining its interesting history which takes only a few minutes but is well worth doing. The hotel seems to be a popular place for wedding receptions so you might ask for a quiet room on a weekend. Definitely a great place to stay!
