I stayed in Sheraton Maria Isabel back in September 2017 and experienced the devastating earthquake that rocked the city on my last day. Five years later, I decided to return to Mexico City and stay at the Sheraton again - also in September and this time in the new wing - due to the prime location, and am so glad that I made the right decision! The staff gave us an upgrade with a beautiful view of the Angel, and the room was so peaceful and quiet. During the Independence Day parade, we found that our room had a great vantage point to view the parade as well. I was sad to leave the hotel because we were moving to the Hyatt Regency in Polanco for the last two nights of our trip. I will definitely come back to Sheraton the next time I visit Mexico City…its location and staff can’t be beat!…

Mexicans are most friendly and attentive but not really service-oriented, in the sense that sometimes one must insist or really beg to have something done or corrected, even if it our right as customer or a clear mistake from the service provider. That being stated the first part of the stated was almost a disaster, with reception making unacceptable mistakes upon check-in; so inexcusable, that manager V. Tenorio had to intervene and put things on the adequate level of respect and professionalism! Only as a result of his action, the return to the hotel 10 days later wasn't cancelled. Staff is aware that the hotel is old(-fashioned) and some try their best to catch the guest with other features, like cleanliness and organisation. The corner junior suite is large and most welcoming, two completely separate rooms and bathrooms. The hotel still lacks proper isolation, even the smallest noise from outdoors can be heard and ruin anyone's sleep. The best asset is undoubtedly the Clube Lounge, with Leslie, Alma, Fidel, Carlos and especially Luis looking after us all with most genuine care and attention! High-tiered Bonvoy members and suite bookers have access to it and can enjoy breakfast and happy hour there. Even aware of its many problems, listed by me in my review from last year and many others, the hotel deserves a stay, always hoping some minor yet not unimportant issues are taken care of thoroughly.…

We loved this hotel! The property is a tiny bit dated, and the rooms are small. But everything was scrupulously clean and EVERY SINGLE member of staff we talked to was kind and helpful. We felt very welcomed and this was a great location from which to explore the city.

No wifi in the rooms, at least none that works. The place feels sad. The staff are as wonderful as ever, but there is nothing they can do. The location is good, but it feels like maybe they biding their time. My sheets feel 10 years old.

I honestly cannot understand why this hotel has the reviews it has. I would never stay here again. One of the worse hotel experiences and we have stayed at a lot of hotels of varying stars. I have not been able to get a single nights rest in this hotel and cannot wait to go home. 1. The hotel is not clean. They have one night housekeeper for over 700 rooms. Our daughter vomitted on the bed/floor. After waiting for over an hour, the housekeeper finally showed up. She did not bother to change all the bedding. My husband had to scrub the floors himself. We have all felt sick since coming here. 2. The location is not great. It’s in the middle of nowhere and not walkable. I would highly recommend staying somewhere more central. 3. The hotel nickels and dimes for everything. They are the first hotel to charge for an early check in fee to get a room an hour earlier. This is with a Bonvoy and Amex platinum membership. They also clearly make recommendations to places/service providers geared towards ripping off customers. Their concierge made the worst tourist trap restaurant recommendation and we were advised to take a mode of transportation that we realized later was 3 times more than what we should have paid. 4. The pool is very small and the breakfast is nothing to write home about. Mediocre, dirty and a really downer. Avoid. Period.…

I find it incredible that this is a five star hotel; it's is old, tired and disappointing. Yes, the location is great, but that in itself does not have justify its five stars and relatively high price. The decor is dated, the furniture chipped, the carpets stained ... and we stayed in the recently renovated building facing the Angel of Independence. We complained and was offered access to their "club" which was even more disappointing as it completely lacked soul, character, style and class - certainly not a place or experience I would associate with any kind of premium brand. I will not be staying at the Sheraton Maria Isabel again and I will recommend you also look elsewhere; there are so many other hotels that are much better value for money in the same area.

Comfortable beds, quiet hotel, good service. But, on my 2nd night I returned to my room to an INTENSE smell of acetone/paint thinner coming through the vent. So powerful I couldn’t even be in there for 5 minutes. My colleagues on the floor above had the same issue as well. We all had to change rooms which was a huge nuisance. 4 nights later, in the new room, the power AND the plumbing shut off for several hours of the night, just as we were trying to pack and get ready to catch early flights out. We had to walk down 12 flights of stairs with luggage in the dark, no shower, no toilet. Crazy. The front desk is very nice but the hotel definitely has maintenance issues. Two major issues in a week is way too much, and with no explanation or notice. Would not stay again.

I want to say THANK YOU for the wonderful amazing excellent customer service from Housekeeping Service from MARITZA SUAREZ y ALEJANDRA, during my staying I end it up sick but they did all and more in order to feel comfortable and safe. This place is right next to the US Embassy and in a central location in Mexico. If you are here on business you will be close to everything. Rooms are very quiet and we didn’t hear the usual door slams of hotels. We highly recommend this hotel. Did not like the pool as it is on the roof and just not impressive but didn’t need to swim when we had so many other fun things to do in Mexico City
