The Sheraton Mexico City Maria Isabel Hotel garners acclaim for its prime location and friendly service, though some guests note occasional lapses in housekeeping. Many find the diverse amenities, including dining options and a gym, to be a highlight, despite calls for updates. The atmosphere strikes a balance between old-world charm and modern flair, especially appreciated in social areas and rooms with views. While the rooms' size and cleanliness receive some praise, there is feedback suggesting a need for renovations. Overall, the hotel offers a reasonable blend of comfort and value.

Sheraton review
I travelled to Mexico in March 2021 as a lone female traveller and stayed in the Sheraton Maria Isabel Hotel. It was perfectly situated for me, I felt safe right next to the US embassy enabling me to take morning walks and be amongst the street vendors and pleasant shops and buildings. I had a perfect view of the angel of independence where there was always some activity to watch. Sunday mornings were really pleasant when the main street was shut and hundreds of joggers, dog walkers and cyclists could freely use the area. I took advantage of the 'Turibus' (inexpensive) open top bus tours which stopped frequently right over the road from the hotel so I was fortunate to explore far more of this stunning city than I had expected to during my stay. Initially I had concerns about the amount of people I would come in contact with as this is such a large hotel but I had a wonderful experience. The hotel wasn't busy and I rarely even came in contact with anyone in the elevators, anyone I did meet was respectful of social distancing and we had the option of using one of the other (3) lifts. I had no concerns about feeling unsafe regarding covid, my temperature was checked every time I entered both the hotel and restaurant and there was a plentiful supply of sanitiser stations (and masks) available everywhere I went, every guest and member of staff wore a mask throughout the hotel. I had a clean well equipped gym and small rooftop pool to myself most of the time. The staff couldn't have done enough, I was very well looked after by Diana who cleaned my room and made sure I had sufficient water every day even if I didn't need my room cleaning daily. The waitors were wonderful, Guillermo, Javier, Raul, every member of staff quickly remembered my name and made a point of greeting you as well as remembering my favourite drink and they made sure I knew what was happening in the evening, 2 for 1 cocktails or what time the music would start that night. I ate in the hotel over 30 times and I have no complaints, everything was beautifully presented and cooked with care. I would even have little surprises at breakfast like a little dish of nutella or pecans or a piece of cake in my bread and pastry basket. I especially enjoyed the Saturday brunch, a set price extensive menu where they encouraged you to try it as you wished, sangria included, I had sushi, grilled octopus and various other small dishes, it was a lovely atmosphere where they cooked much of the food outside on the griller with music playing. I had room service late at night on occasions, it was delivered quicker than expected and was beautifully presented. I was never disappointed. As only one restaurant was open I would occasionally tire of the main menu but they were so accommodating and were happy for you to order from the room service menu and dine in the restaurant too. Most of the time I enjoyed eating outside and the staff would always ensure the sun shades were tilted to suit your needs. Thankyou all for such an enjoyable stay

We had just returned from Carnaval in Colombia and were going to take a few days to unwind in Mexico City. As a Marriott Titanium member, we received an upgrade to a corner suite overlooking the Angel of Independence which was a very nice perk. Carina took excellent care of us everyday in the Sheraton Club Lounge and all the other staff were highly responsive to our requests. After an unfortunate incident in the streets, the hotel took care of cleaning up and polishing our dress shoes (without charge) as if nothing had happened. Without asking, the hotel staff brought us a large ice bucket to keep our bottle of vodka properly chilled.

The location of this hotel can't be beat making it convenient to the major sights. Our king bed, although a little high off the floor, was extremely comfortable and the couch and chairs in the living room were also quite comfortable.

On the downside we also experienced problems with bathroom plumbing with the shower alternating between scalding hot and freezing cold every 15 seconds no matter how you positioned the handle. And the bidet had been completely shut off making it useless.

For the price in this neighborhood it’s fine. As you’ll see in other reviews, the rooms are quite dated. The public areas are corporate and also dated but better maintained. In my room, there are scuffs on the walls, furniture with chipped layers of brown glossy paint, the shower handle is broken, and half of the outlets are missing covers. It’s just tired. The pool area is a terror. Cheap white plastic lounge chairs covered in used towels—no attendant to be seen during the busy art fair week. The pool is rooftop which affords nice views if you can find the pool that is. The signage is abysmal. The tile and cement surrounding the pool is chipped and scuzzy and the pool basin itself is in about the same condition as a motor lodge pool on an Oklahoma highway. I kept wondering what sort of infection I’d come away with. The property is conveniently located but I just don’t get why someone would stay here when there are several other places nearby that are better maintained. At this price point in this neighborhood, you aren’t going to get contemporary design, but you can get better maintained. Marquis Reforma is very dated as well but way better maintained. If you do stay here, go next door to the Sofitel’s 37 floor open air bar for drinks and tapas at a similar price but with the look of a Dubai hotel. It’s gorgeous. St Regis nearby has a great bar too. Same for the nearby Four Seasons. If you need to stay here and your budget is tight, this Sheraton will do, it it doesn’t I’ve up to over Sheratons at all. These days great deals can be found near the Zocalo at the Curio Collection Umbral—maybe the best hotel for the money in CDMX right now esp if you book as a Hilton Honors member. La Casona in Roma Norte is also old, but super charming and in a way more exciting neighborhood. I suggest looking on the discount travel sights and seeing what you can get for the same money elsewhere.

Stayed at Sheraton Mexico City Maria Isabel Hotel this last weekend, Great Hotel!

My wife and I visited "Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine" and glad we chose the Hotel only 35 minutes from Shrine, the staff was friendly and rooms were very clean, room service was prompt and after we got back rom our day out the rooms were always clean ready waiting. We also liked the café which had a good selection of food and the server Guillermo was more than attentive and welcoming. We stayed there years ago but this time around we had a chance to visit the local restaurants which were many and a safe walking distance two blocks from Hotel, great dinner! I believe its called "El Mexicano Restaurante y Mezcalería", my wife ended up singing with the Trio live after a few drinks...Lol.
I seen a couple of negative reviews, nothing to really complain about from my side, yes maybe something minor but not a game changer, I've stayed at Wynn in Las Vegas before during peak season $3,000.00 for 3 nights! and they even had a few minor issues... some of these nit picking reviews are too much.. Its a nice hotel to stay at for your valuable time, my wife is also a GM of a major hotel here in Los Angeles, nothing so bad as to write a bad review. Lastly, the hotel taxi service which is affiliated with the hotel is the best for drop offs and pick-ups, very reasonable price and prompt (I preferred them over Uber and the actual city Taxi service with the run down dirty taxis in the pink and white cars). Take care and God Bless All on your Travels, Ben.

Decided to stay here given the central location of the hotel. Hotel room was upgraded to a business room with a view of the independence statute under construction. Was however appreciated. Room layout was two queen beds which were a little saggy and dated as well as the room. Housekeeping services were variable day to day. Some days felt like the room was cleaned and the next day towels were missing and required numerous calls to get what we needed. The hotel definitely needs a refurbish. Our room was quiet given the reforma View location. Air conditioning definitely takes a while to cool things off. Shower is a little tricky and got scalded a few times due to some probably old Plumbing. Front desk and concierge service was excellent and helpful. Given the price per night which varied every night we were there feel like we should have had a more comfortable and upscale appearing room.

We visited MC in mid-february and stayed 5 nights at this hotel. Key staff speak english much better than I speak spanish, which was a plus when we needed something that I could not express very well in spanish. All staff were professional and friendly. The rooms were clean, large enough for my wife and I, and the housekeeping service was exceptional. The hotel is located next door to the US Embassy, within walking distance to Chapultepec Park and other attractions, 5 blocks from the bus pick-up area for the Trip Advisor recommended tour of the Teotihuacán pyramids (although the Sheraton can probably also arrange tours of the pyramids), and 4-5 blocks from a Ticket Master Center (if you need to pick up tickets for a concert or event). Convenience stores are located on the same block and a grocery store is within walking distance. There are many restaurant options in the neighborhood, but if you like eating at the hotel, we enjoyed its dining options as well. Hotel security was excellent and we never felt unsafe anywhere we ventured in the neighborhood. We will stay at this hotel again on our next trip to MC.

Just had one of the best experiences of my life at the Sheraton Mexico City Maria Isabel Hotel and Towers. Every single associate, from Front desk, F&B, Housekeeping, Security, and Valet was warm, welcoming, hospitality, and genuinely interested in my family's well being.

Not only was I thrilled that they approved the SNAs, but the city view of the Corner Suite was exquisite! Do not expect a modern contemporary design here, as their goal is to evoke an old-fashioned elegance. However their entire property is extremely well maintained and successfully delivered in providing a classic upscale environment. Usually with aging properties, such as this one, you tend to see moldy caulking, stained carpet, and torn furniture. On the contrary, it was astonishing to see everything in the room, lobby, and restaurant in working order and excellent condition!

Their Club Lounge is still closed, but they have an excellent breakfast buffet in their restaurant every day from 6:30 to 11 AM. They have scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, a traditional Mexican main dish, beans, vegetables, made to order quesadillas, eggs/omelette, waffles, fresh fruit, fresh juice, yogurt, charcuterie, and sweet/savory bread. You also have the choice to order a single breakfast a la carte item delivered to your room, free of delivery fee charge, if you would rather stay in your room. Room service fee still applies for delivering lunch and dinner.

Additionally, since the Club Lounge usually offers wine, beer, appetizers and desserts in the evening, they will deliver a variety of 3 appetizers and 1 dessert, without delivery fee, every evening from 6-8:30 PM.

If you are ever in Mexico City, make it a point to experience this wonderful hotel. They take great care of all guests, especially elites!

For me good hospitality goes a long way. From the moment you step into the hotel you are greeted with smiles and instantly you get the feeling that you are welcomed there. I was traveling with my family and we had a couple of requests that we required to make our stay a bit more comfortable. Giovanni, who was working the front desk that day was really helpful in getting me answers to all my questions. He explained all the amenities in a clear manner and was very helpful in making sure I was aware of what I was getting. The staff at this hotel treat everyone amazingly but if you are a an elite member, they truly show you why its worth staying with Marriott Hotels. There is not a single staff member there who I had a complaint about in the 4 nights that I stayed at this hotel. The bartenders do their best to know your name and address you accordingly, the housekeepers double check with you to make sure your hotel room is to your liking, and the restaurant/lounge servers are always checking in to make sure your dining experience is going well! I will most certainly be coming back to this hotel because everyone's hospitality left me feeling like I was among family. Thank you Sheraton Maria Isabel, for having such hard working and friendly staff in your property!

I am a Bonvoy (Gold Elite status) for almost 20 yrs. I didn’t receive the usual upgrade as in past stays. Total disappointment at a $200 rate. There were no room amenities, ripped terry, no coffee maker. The room has not been renovated in over 20 years. There was no water pressure in the shower. I had to leave the room and shower in gym. This Hotel has always been an international flagship and landmark ; representative of the Sheraton Brand. It’s apparent that Ownership is not maintaining this hotel and it gives the Brand a bad reputation. I won’t be staying here again. For this rate you can stay in Polanco at the Hyatt or Intercontinental Hotel which have more contemporary and spacious rooms and public areas and are located in a much more pleasant and safer setting.

This hotel is primarily a business hotel but as a family of four, we felt so welcomed. The staff is on top of everything from the second you walk in the door. Each morning Jesus catered to our families requests at breakfast. Their breakfast is awesome too! They rotate their hot items and they have fresh bakery items and fresh fruit daily. They also have an omelet bar and a huge waffle station. The hotel is super clean and followed covid-19 protocols. Lastly, they have a mariachi performance Thursday through Saturday which costs $150 pesos pp. It was such a great experience. As a family of four from California my primary concern was safety and I felt very safe here. I would absolutely 100% stay here again. A huge thanks to all the staff for making us feel valued, safe, and welcomed.

Within a half mile radius it is definitely safe. I stroll frequently at night within this area alone. Beyond that, ask the helpful concierge team for details.
