This house is such an interesting place to meet people: refugees, travellers, long term visitors. Breakfast is 35 p and delicious vegetarian only. Bunks were very noisy in the female dorm but at least there's a big balcony and bathroom attached. There are large communal spaces, a library and inner courtyard to escape the heat. Kitchen was a bit tricky... More

A great place with great people. Calm atmosphere filled with socially conscious people. I stayed here in one of the shared rooms as an alternative to a hostel atmosphere. I am an older traveler and prefer a congenial, non-party atmosphere. I am not a Quaker, nor anything else, in particular, but I feel very close to the ideals.

We stayed here for 2 weeks, the first week we were in room I with a shared bathroom 2 floors down, and the 2 week we moved to room K with it's own bathroom. Firstly I have to say that this place isn't a hotel, it's a quaker residence that rents out rooms and you don't have to be a... More

This is a not only a great hostel, but a great overall project. Casa de los Amigos, is indeed a Center for Peace and International Understanding, established as a nonprofit organization in 1956 by the Quaker community in Mexico. Through its programmes, community space, and social and cultural activities, the Casa promotes peace with justice, fosters understanding between groups and... More

I stayed at Casa de los Amigos 20 years ago. I looked forward to my return there as a sort of homecoming. I was disappointed. It was hard to get a good night's sleep there because of the level of noise. Most of the guests were rowdy youngsters, drunk or on drugs, with absolutely no consideration for others. There was... This is a good value hostel in a great location of DF. The dorm was clean, and the hostel also has a decent kitchen that you can use. The staff was nice and the work they do is great. The dorm was a bit loud, but I'm sure it just depends on the night. It would also be nice if... More

As the other reviews state, the Casa de Los Amigos is much more than a hostel, and their quaker activities and socials justice work often mean that rooms aren't available for travelers. None-the-less, when they do have rooms available this place is a breath from fresh air. "The Casa" isn't for everyone, but it's great if you're looking to meet... More

Note that this isn't a hotel or even a hostel. La Casa is working Quaker center, migrant shelter, and humanitarian center. They do offer rooms for travelers if there is space. If you're interested in social justice work in Mexico this is an excellent community to meet. Living at the Casa requires some flexibility-- don't expect hotel like service- that's... More

Over the last 7 years I have stayed at the Casa many, many times. I'm sorry it never occurred to me to write a review. I have nothing to add to other comments about it's virtues, friendly, comfortable, near the Metro, etc., etc. The common kitchen can only be as clean as the other guests using it, and there are... Casa de los Amigos is clean and well kept, with a friendly, helpful staff. It is in an excellent location, close to the metro, metro-bus and several bus lines. There are many restaurants, a good pharmacy, and ATMs in the neighborhood. There is a kitchen where guests are encouraged to cook; a common room with couches, dining table and chairs,... More

“Room I is in the main house next to the library, you have to go down 2 floors to the toilet and bathroom. You also have to be very quiet on Sunday mornings as the library is where the silent quaker meeting is held. Room K is in a separate building attached to another room next door and the room with the kitchen above. We found it noisier than I but much preferred having our own bathroom and toilet.”
