Alma del Sol is an old stone and adobe house in Guanajuato's beautiful, historic center. The five ample rooms, including two suites, have lots of character with super high ceilings. Four of them have balconies or large window with a greta view of the city. The rooftop terrace offers a great place to relax and enjoy the downtown views while you sip on a cold drink.

We had a fantastic stay at Alma del Sol. Hugo was a charming and helpful host. The room was very clean, and the included breakfast was delicious. Hugo had great recommendations and was eager to help us discover his hometown of Guanajuato. We highly recommend this BnB.

Staying with Hugo and his friendly crew at Alma del Sol is liking staying with a dear old friend, who happens to have a fantastic home in a prime location in beatiful Guanajuato. The room we stayed in was comfortable and cozy, the hospitality was fantastic, and the recommendations and ideas of what to do and where to eat were great. The house is right in the middle of the bustling town, so be ready for some levels of street noise from time to time. Staying with Hugo is liking getting an insider's pass to Guanajuato and the surrounding regions. We actually took his recommendations to plan the rest our trip aroud the Bajio and Michoacan, which was amazing. Alma del Sol's rooftop terrace and delicious breakfasts and evening margaritas were pure pleasure that I will never forget. Thank You so much Hugo! Hope you are doing well Brijean and Andy

Thanks to Hugo, our 5 days in Guanajuato were excellent. He helped us with tickets to Cervantino events, mentioned new places to visit and recommended restaurants to try. When needed, Hugo was always there. He as places around town to fit every need, location, and accommodation. We needed 2 bedrooms, each with private baths and he had the perfect place for us. And, half a block from the Theatro Juarez and the Jarden. I can't wait to return to Guanajuato and when I do, Hugo's Alma del Sol will be a big part of my visit.

A friend recommended this B & B to me, and I am happy that she did. If you love old buildings, as I do, staying in this 300 year old space will appeal to you on so many levels. On the other hand, if you want modern, I am not sure that any of the other sterling qualities Alma del Sol offers will make you happy. But there are so many reasons to stay here. A huge draw is Hugo, the owner and concierge. In the process of booking, we exchanged many emails, and he was always prompt and accommodating. He made planning so much easier beforehand by purchasing our Cervantes Festival tickets for us, which was hugely helpful. He had a driver meet us at the airport. Restaurants were recommended when needed. After we arrived, he sat down with me every day to help me plan our day. He answered all my questions (and I have a LOT) and was unfailingly helpful and gracious. I can't stress how much his help was appreciated. The B & B, which is in a great central location, offers a filling breakfast on the rooftop terrace, which is also open if you want to hang out at any time. There is one long table for all the guests, so everyone had a great time mingling over coffee. My husband described the accommodations as funky, and I would agree. Our ground floor room was very large and clean, and the beds were very comfortable, which is 99% of what is needed. The wifi was dependable. But--no TV, no phone, and the paint was intentionally and artistically scraped away in many places. I loved it--I even took photos of it because I liked it so much--but if this is not your cup of tea, then don't book here. Most of the people we met at breakfast were returning guests, and that speaks a lot for how wonderful this place is. I hope to come back myself some year because both Guanajuato and Alma del Sol are so magical.

We stayed at Alma del Sol for a week. Great location, beautiful rooms, rooftop garden, and delicious breakfasts. The guests can enjoy fun conversation around the breakfast table. The owner, Hugo, is absolutely delghtful. He provides info on restaurants, activities, transportation, etc. The rooms are clean and beautifully decorated. Hugo has a knack for providing a home away from home.
