Alma del Sol is an old stone and adobe house in Guanajuato's beautiful, historic center. The five ample rooms, including two suites, have lots of character with super high ceilings. Four of them have balconies or large window with a greta view of the city. The rooftop terrace offers a great place to relax and enjoy the downtown views while you sip on a cold drink.

Come stay with Hugo and feel like you're staying with family. Hugo will make sure you're comfortable, give you all the best restaurant recommendations, set you up with drivers if needed, and make you feel at home. The rooms are attractive, comfy, and clean--and the location couldn't be better, just two blocks from the main square. There is some street noise and it's a city! It all dies down by 11 pm and adds to the charm as Guanajuato is known for student groups singing in the streets. Book now. You won't regret it :) And you can ask Hugo about the possibility of doing some art while you're there. He has an art studio on the rooftop terrace where you'll have breakfast. Great views, and the staff is friendly and will make sure you have a yummy meal to start your day. I'll be back!

I Just spent 6 nights at Alma del Sol while attending the ArtLeap Holiday Sketch workshop. The room was gorgeous and extremely comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious and very nutritious. Evening happy hours on the roof were fun in this beautiful old home located in the Centro Historico of Guanajuato, Mexico. What made the experience truly memorable? It was the kindness and generosity of the owner, Hugo Anaya. He is uniquely welcoming and hospitable and he and his staff are truly exceptional. It is my second stay and I enjoyed it just as much as the first.

This was a delightful experience in every way. I was there for an art retreat and the owner is one of the instructors. He was exceptionally nice and accommodating (and he speaks excellent English), as were the staff. The hotel is beautifully decorated and the rooms are very comfortable. The food served was delicious. The location is excellent. It can be somewhat noisy outside, particularly since it was a holiday and people were celebrating; earplugs took care of that but I do suggest bringing them!

Thank you so much dear Natasha, I enjoyed so much meeting you. Glad you enjoyed yourself. Being downtown can be a bit noisy, but the one wonderful thing about it is, open the door and you are in the middle of it all! An ok trade I guess?? Thank you for your visit.

The owner, an artist in his own right, has created a beautiful space for art workshops. The entire venue vibrates with color and textiles and art pieces. The rooms are decorated individually and spacious as are the bathrooms. The rooftop patios, both open air and enclosed are lovely with their gardens, as is the dining room. The studio is well lit with large work areas. The staff produces delicious and unique meals and keeps everything spotless. And, it is centrally located with easy walks to almost everything to see. I cannot say enough good things about Alma del Sol.

Stayed for almost a week at this historic hotel. The landlord, Hugo, is an artist as well as charming host. It was delightful to stay in the historic district of Guanajuato. Felt safe and the troubadours come by each night singing! Comfortable, friendly and a special place for an Arts Retreat.

We recently spent 11 nights at Alma del Sol while attending a printmaking workshop. The room and setting were gorgeous and the breakfast spectacular, but what made the experience truly memorable was the kindness and generosity of the owner, Hugo Anaya. He is uniquely welcoming and hospitable and he and his staff are truly exceptional. I believe everyone leaves there feeling they have made a friend for life and looking forward to returning “ home” to Alma del Sol again. Thank you so much Hugo. We look forward to the next time.

I stayed at both of Hugo’s places for an art retreat. Everything was wonderful, the rooms, rooftop garden and studio, fabulous breakfast and happy hour spreads! Best of all was Hugo’s warmth and true caring for each individual in the group. Hugo even got up at 4 AM to personally walk me to the cab for an early flight. I’ll never forget his kindness and the beautiful memory of this retreat.

Have just returned from a 12-day stay with Hugo in his wonderful Alma del Sol B&B. The first 5 days were for an art retreat with friends which he helped lead as a master print maker. I then stayed an extra week to explore Guanajuato with my husband and to study more print-making with Hugo. Hugo made our entire stay a wonderful time. He is an extraordinary host, prepares beautiful breakfasts every morning, suggests great outings, goes the extra mile to provide any amenities needed. He also offers a wonderful late afternoon happy hour on his roof deck, complete with homemade margaritas and fun conversation. This is a great place from which to explore Guanajuato and neighboring communities.

From the moment the front door opened you can feel the amazing good vibes of all who have traveled to this loving B and B. The magical hallways, steps to the rooftop and location fill your heart with joy! Very well maintained and an artist's dream location. Walk everywhere from here and enjoy the views from the your balcony room. The food served here is amazing and our happy hours with our art group was so perfect! Hugo your host will spoil you and can tell you all about the secrets of Guanajuato while directing you to everything you might come to enjoy. I will come back here again, it feels like home!
